Guests love this home’s spaciousness for a comfortable stay.
Totally renovated, modern upstairs apartment right in the heart of downtown Staunton. High end appliances, cherry wood kitchen cabinets, quartz countertops and breakfast bar, Ultra HD Smart TV, KING size bed, reclining sofa, and great view of our charming, historic main street. Guests can also use the washer and dryer in the apartment if needed.

The space
You can't beat the location. We are one block from the American Shakespeare Center's Blackfriars Playhouse and all the architectural attractions, antique and specialty shops, and great eating and drinking spots in the center of town. You'll find plenty of tea and coffee in the kitchen cupboard, eggs and bread in the refrigerator, and two restaurants serving breakfast just steps away.

Two night minimum stay required. Exceptions possible for weeknights during slow season - please inquire. We have a washer and dryer in the apartment all guests are welcome to use.

Neighborhood highlights

Lots of great places to eat within a 3-4 block radius...
I love the Yelping Dog for a glass of wine and a cheese plate, or the new place, Accordia just one block east on Beverley Street.

Byers Street Bistro is also a favorite - prime rib sandwiches, burgers, fried chicken, salads - all big winners! Great outdoor seating if the weather is good, and far enough from the very loud live music in the evening that you can still hear yourself think.. I love Mill Street Grill too - warning: don't get an appetizer plus full dinners unless you want leftovers! Bruschetta and baked feta cheese are both amazing.

For local color check out Marino's Lunch. Lot of live music 6:00 to 9:00ish, all local musicians, on Tuesdays, and amazing juicy burgers and a Sunday Cajun brunch with a variety of mimosas on Sundays.

Zynadoa or Aioli or the Shack if you're looking for something a little more upscale. And too many other fun places to mention! Just walk up and down Beverley street and wander down by the Wharf for Mars Cider, some wine at the Ox-Eye vineyard tasting room and a visit to SunSpots for incredible glass art and if you are lucky, a live glass blowing demo!

Hi! I'm an Industrial/Organizational Psychologist, recently retired from working at USAID in DC and now my husband and I are very much enjoying life in our beautiful new home in Swoope, VA. We have exquisite countryside, mountain views and sunsets, but can easily (in 13 minutes!) get to downtown Staunton for music, theater, restaurants, Airbnb cleaning, and sometimes, the chance to meet our wonderful guests!
