Unplug, unwind and reconnect in this one-room, lofted cabin.

Guests may feed and pet goats, throw scratch to chickens, and pick pears and grapes in season. Ask for details.

We provide fresh eggs and oatmeal you prepare; bring bread, fruit, etc to add to your breakfast. Microwave, e-griddle & dorm-sized refrigerator, hot dog sticks, lighter, firewood provided.

No A/C; woods keep cabin somewhat cool. Heated for winter.

Full bathroom in basement of farmhouse, short walk. Private entrance.

The space
Want to go camping without packing all of the equipment? Come “rough it” with great amenities (like sleeping in real beds!) We provide everything you need for your overnight adventure. All you need to pack are your clothes and some food. We provide eggs, instant oatmeal, granola bars, coffee and tea for breakfast.

Nestled in a wooded area near a pond with a fountain, The Camp Cabin provides a quiet overnight camping experience with a fire circle.

The Darst-Myers Hallstead is the home of Gary and Donna Hall and has been in our family since 1934. The name derives from Donna's grandmother's maiden name, Donna’s maiden name, and the last name Gary and Donna share. Six generations of the family have lived at or near this farm, and the homestead continues to be a gathering place for family and friends.

Children and agri-tourists especially enjoy the experience of staying at our 7 acre farm, which is surrounded by hundreds of acres of neighboring farmland. Pet and feed goats and chickens, gather eggs, pump water from a well.

If you come in winter, bring proper attire, including boots for your trek to the bathroom and warm clothes/slippers. If there’s snow, you’ll love the Sledding Hill! Sleds available in the hilltop shed. This is a great place to camp in the winter.

In summer, enjoy the paddle boat and canoe or walk short wooded trails. Fish, play games, roll down the hill. Spend time together as a family.

You may have noticed that we don't offer a t.v. in the cabin, an intentional choice. You won't need it while you are here. Unplug, as a family, and enjoy the time without...which has potential to be so much more. Find creative ways to spend time together. We have a selection of board games, cards, reading and coloring materials for guests to enjoy while here.

Guest access
Our farm is 9 miles (18 minutes) from the Football Hall of Fame in Canton, Ohio, which draws visitors from all over the world. The Escape Room is also located in downtown Canton. We are just 3.8 miles from the Hartville Marketplace and Flea Market, along with the nationally recognized Hartville Hardware and Hartville Kitchen Restaurant.
Other restaurants we love include Samantha’s Frontier, MiCasa, and The Hartville Chocolate Factory (ok, that last one isn’t a restaurant, but you can eat the most important food group there!). On rainy days, kids love the inflatables at Pump it Up in Hartville.

If our barn is not in use for another function or other guests, you may access the top floor of the barn for basketball (we a have a "full-court"-- two hoops but not regulation-sized), dodgeball or other activities.

Other things to note
-Campers are welcome to set up a cooking station at the picnic shelter if it is not in use by other guests. It has a table, electricity and a fire ring nearby and a wooded path to the cabin. No extra fee.

-We have a gathering space in the barn that guests may rent for events such as: children's parties, family reunions, bridal and baby showers and small weddings if it is not already booked. Seating for 80 guests. Separate fees and scheduling considerations apply. Message Donna for details.

-This a small, working farm, and it is our home. As such, walkways are uneven and guests need to take extra care as they explore the area. Although we welcome all guests, this camping/farm stay experience does not have special handicap accessibility. Also, please note that the air may get dusty when fields are plowed/harvested and there is the potential for noise from tractors and other farm machinery.

Guests participate at their own risk. The Darst-Myers Hallstead, LLC and its agents assume no liability for guests' safety. Guests agree to stay voluntarily and assume all liability for their familes/guests. Guests agree to safeguard their own well-being and that of their children and minor wards.

We are back from the road, so neighbors are not visible, but sound does carry, so we ask that our guests observe quiet hours after 10 p.m.

During your stay
Donna and Gary or their representatives will be here to greet you or they may provide self-check in instructions. The cabin is your private space during your stay.

We live in the farmhouse and are here to help if you need us. We typically go about our normal lives as guests are here and respect your private time. We are happy to interact as desired, especially to educate guests about animals and the farm, at guests’ request.

The basement restroom is typically your space while you are here, with an exception: if an event is happening or the barn is rented, then the restroom could be a shared space.
