About This Listing
My cute, comfortable home is centrally located to public transportation & has easy access to most interstates. It is 7 miles from downtown Milwaukee. It's the lower unit of my duplex & has a privacy fenced back yard. I know you will love it.
This is a 2 BR smaller home(lower of my duplex). The whole house has hardwood or tile floors. The master has a king size bed, the 2nd BR has a futon with a double size real mattress. Clean bedding is provided along with towels, shampoo, conditioner, soap, blow dryer, etc. I want you to feel like you are at home when you are here. You are also welcome to use the couch for sleeping if you would like. I have a privacy fenced in back yard, which is great for kids/pets.
You will have full access to the house with fridge, mini fridge, dishwasher, basement with washer and dryer, grill outside, and the garage (based on size of vehicle). Keep in mind this is my primary home, I will clear out some of the closet area so you have somewhere to put clothes, etc. Just know that you will see a lot of my stuff here, including food in the cupboards, because I do live here. I will be moving out while you stay. I also have 2 dogs which go with me everywhere, so no worries, they won't be at the house, however, if you have a pet allergy, I wanted to make sure it was known that they are normally here.
Interaction with Guests
I have a pretty crazy schedule usually. If I know a little bit in advance that you would like me to show you around the city or join you with anything, I can do my best to make it happen. I would also be more than happy to help point you in the right direction and let you enjoy your time here without interference. Which ever makes you happiest.
I love that the Hank Aaron State Trail is conveniently located at the end of my street. Heading east, towards downtown Milwaukee, it is paved, which is great for running, biking, or just a leisurely walk. Going west, it is still gravel but that by no means makes it any less special. I am located about 3-4 miles from Miller Park where the Milwaukee Brewers play, about 5 minutes from Wauwatosa bars and restaurants, 10 minutes from downtown Milwaukee which has unlimited restaurants, night life, several beer brewery's, and theaters.
If you want public transportation, the bus stop is 2 blocks from here (1-2 minute walk), and it is about a $20 cab ride to/from downtown Milwaukee. The house is right next to all major interstates which makes it extremely convenient for shopping (4 shopping malls within 8 miles), grocery stores, health food stores, really anything you could want. I will be giving you one of my garage spots (depending on the size of the vehicle, trucks don't really fit) and there is also street parking up to 3 times per month per vehicle for free from the city. Unfortunately I don't have a say in street parking other than that. If you need a ride from the airport, it is also about $20 cab ride, or if I'm not working, I'd be willing to pick you up. It is only about 15 minutes to the airport from my doorstep.
Other Things to Note
Check in will generally be 2pm and check out at noon. I can be flexible with that based on the previous or current people staying in the house.
I want you to feel at home and have fun while you are in the city. I do expect you to respect my home, as if it was your own. Remember, it is a duplex, so there are people that live upstairs. Try not to be too crazy so they can get some sleep as well. I don't mind pets, I just ask that you clean up after them. I do not allow smoking in the house (I have asthma), however if you want to smoke outside and pick up your cigarette butts, I'm ok with that.
The reservation was canceled 36 days before arrival. This is an automated posting.
Jessica was a wonderful host. Her home is cozy and close to many attractions. We were able to bike on the Hank Aaron bike path, walking distance from her home, and walk to State Fair Park. She supplied water and cable television for my Sports loving husband. Her king size bed is extremely comfortable.
Great place to stay the night before a half marathon! Felt very rested and was only a 20 minute drive to the downtown area.
This house is NOT newly remodeled, nor cozy. It's directly next to the freeway, very LOUD. Her upstairs tenants were up til 2am stomping around, dog barking, doors slamming and playing LOUD music. I should have searched for Jessica on Facebook. You should. Read her posts about her "lousy, noisy, rude tenants". Reading it; I now realize they probably did it on purpose.
The best part of her quiet location, was the road construction not 15’ from the pillow under my head; 7am sharp! The house shook from the drilling and breaking up asphalt. Jessica, thank you so much for assuring me a quiet location for my business trip, even though you later confessed to receiving a notification about the roadwork from the city. You are a real gem.
The family room furniture is gross. It has stains and burns in it, it is sticky; not to mention the terrible odor. Yuck. The bedroom furniture has scratches all over it. The wood floor is covered in stains and scratches.
There is one remodeled room; the bath. It was fine, except for the window without any covering. From your throne, you will enjoy a view of at least 4 neighbors 2 story homes; better yet, they have a perfect view of you from their windows past her dinky hard.
The 2nd bedroom did not have a door on it or a queen size mattress as advertised. There was no room in the closets or dresser or nightstand drawers. I was told I could not use them. No counter for the bathroom sink, so no room for your things in there, either. This was a real problem for me; since I had suits that needed pressing and hanging for work.
The upstairs neighbor has a huge, aggressive dog, so be careful. The listing didn't state that there were animals at the property. They leave it unattended in the backyard. Since the backdoor was the only door with a working lock (the front was locked with a lockbox on it; she said there was no way to use it) you may have to wait until the dog goes upstairs before you leave the property. That or risk your well being by tempting the beast.
Just remember to take your valuables with you, since all the windows across the front of the house are really old and stuck open. Also, be sure your laptop is secure. Someone tried to hack into mine. Technology is my profession, so mine is locked down tight, but if you don't know how to do that, you should get it done before staying at this house.
Slow internet. Broken window blinds (just look at the picture she has posted).
Don't let her trick you into communicating outside of this website; that's her way of avoiding accountability.
I took photos. Feel free to contact me so you can see for yourself.
Well to start with a response to you... the kitchen and bath were completely gutted and everything was replaced including walls, counters, floors, appliances, toilet, windows, etc, except the outside frame of the house. I also started to replace windows in the living room (2 of which are still the older windows and are functional opening and closing) and insulated and replaced half the walls. Yes, I did not replace the original hard wood floor in the living or bedrooms so over the years of use they are not perfect. And thanks to you leaving urine on my floor for a week from your dog, I now have a new stain. I also have pictures of the bathroom online showing it's size because it is on the smaller side. It is a smaller house, only about 750 sq feet. All of that is listed in my listing...
I have never stated that it was a quiet location. It is definitely not normally a loud location either. It is about 50-70 feet above the interstate so you do hear the occasional semi or motorcycle but it was a freak chance that they started doing construction the day you arrived. The city is redoing the whole interstate system in Milwaukee and part of that was gas lines. It is something completely out of my hands. They did send me a notice months prior saying they would be doing work at some point... I was never given a date. I sat on the phone for hours trying to get answers for you and all you could say was " I left, I want a refund" and stopped returning my calls, emails through Airbnb and texts. This situation did not give you the right to steal my house keys, steal my garage door opener, leave my house a disaster with end tables flipped upside down on top of my furniture, leave urine from your dog on my rug and floor, leave your dishes in the sink and garbage to mold over the week, and somehow take my closet door off the tracks. And I have pictures as well...I was planning on giving you at least a partial refund if not majority, until I saw the condition of my house, had to clean urine out of carpet, off my floors, and had to change all the locks and get new garage door openers.
I live in a city, I'm sorry the yard was not up to your standards as far as size. There was a section of the closet, in both closets that were cleaned out for you to use, along with the night stand. When you arrived I even opened the closet door for you and showed you that it was partially cleaned out. No need to lie and say I told you that you couldn't use them. It was only supposed to be you staying there so there was no need for a queen blow up bed in the second bedroom when there is a king in the master bedroom. It does however have a double size futon that was in the place of the queen bed, which has a real mattress instead of being blown up. One of the tenants did accidentally burn 2 small spots on the couch. That by no means makes it disgusting. I try to take all the covers off and wash in-between tenants to prevent any residue from previous pets, etc.
The front door works perfectly fine other than you just can' t unlock it from the outside because I was never given keys to it when I purchased the house. It unlocks just fine from the inside and the door knob works to physically open the door from inside and outside if it is unlocked. The lock box on the door has nothing to do with the functionality of the door, it is strictly for emergency purposes if something were to go wrong with the plumbing or a maintenance person needs to get in to one of the 2 units, so they don't have to wait for me to drive to meet them with keys.
You were stopping in town on your way to a different state for a dog show, you were not in Milwaukee for business, or at least that's what you told me. I have never had any issues with someone "hacking" into my computer.
I did have a conversation with my tenants upstairs about noise, which I don't know if they were even noisy since there are so many other inaccurate statements in your review. But there are hardwood floors upstairs as well so I asked them to put a rug or blanket down and to keep noise to a minimum after 10. In the year they have been renting from me, all but one time that I have seen, they have had the dog on a controlled leash. They are going through constant dog training classes and one of the things they want is the dog on a leash for training purposes.
I apologize my home was not what you were looking for in your visit to Milwaukee. I can only hope you treated someone else's house better than you did mine.
All went well for our visit at Jessica's home in western Milwaukee. Her home was clean, tidy and very well-stocked when we arrived. Although we didn't meet Jessica, she was very responsive to all our messages and communication was clear.

About the Host, Jessica
I'm fun, out going, full of life and love travelling as well, which is what prompted me adding my listing on here. Someone was nice enough to rent out their house on here, and I was extremely grateful for their hospitality, so I wanted to offer someone the same. I love the outdoors like hiking with my pups, kayaking, boating, riding motorcycles, snowboarding, and any beach.I also enjoy sporting events, cooking, a good glass of wine, cleaning (yes, I actually I admitted that I like cleaning), and socializing in general. I love spending time with family and friends and my 2 pups. I enjoy meeting new people and creating/being a part of new adventures.
