Shelly was really proactive about our arrival. She sent an amusing and informative PDF document all about the house. We called shortly after arriving and she came right over to answer our questions. (My husband and I stayed at the house, together with his sister and her husband.)
The house is beautiful and really, really clean. Both Shelly and Eileen are accomplished artisans, and spending time in their home was inspiring. The beds were really comfortable! I walked to the grocery store our first morning (about 1/2 hour walk) and got to see and enjoy the neighborhood. It is easy to get from the house to the bridge across the Mississippi to downtown or Summit Hill, where we had a wedding to attend.
We really made use of the screened front porch. We sat out there both morning and evening and enjoyed catching up with each other.
My only regret was not having the time to cross the street and visit Shelly's metalworking and woodworking shops, or take her up on her offer of a free professional photo shoot.
A great visit!
Shelly is an incredibly warm-hearted, generous and accessible host. Not only with her personal presence, but with so many amenities and comforting touches in the guest house. The house is impeccably clean, decorated with great artistic flair and so comfortable throughout. Our family enjoyed every moment here. Having rented a number of times in St. Paul, this booking is by far the sweetest I have found. The location is great with very quick access to all areas of St. Paul. We'll be back without a doubt. Shelly is a wonderful host!
We loved this house! It was perfect. So clean and everything feels brand new. Great location for us. Shelly is wonderful. We met her after we arrived and she was bringing over some fresh cream for our morning coffee. We did not get to take advantage of the free photo shoot. But next time we come back to the area we will stay here and try to get one in. Do not hesitate to book here. House is perfectly lovely!
Shelly did a wonderful job communicating in advance of our stay, and checking in during our stay. We have allergies to feathers and she was on the job problem solving. The house is in a very convenient cute safe neighborhood. The superior craftsmanship and decor of the home make it feel much more personal then a typical rental. It is clean, warm and welcoming with everything you need. We LOVED the goodies stocked the kitchen for us! Shelly is a WONDERFUL host!
I stayed at Shelley's cozy home for 11 days. Shelley was a wonderful host. She followed up with me throughout my stay to make sure I had everything I needed. Her home is both functional and aesthetically pleasing, located at a very practical location, with easy access to freeways and main roads. I would definitely stay there again if I had the opportunity to do so. Thanks for the great kitchen Shelley! That certainly made me feel at home during a long business trip.
We had a wonderful week at Shelly's home. The place was super clean and had everything we needed, the neighborhood was great, and Shelly was very welcoming - she put together a list of her favorite local restaurants to try, and even shared her welding mask so we could see the partial eclipse that took place one evening. I would (and have) recommend this place to anyone visiting the Minneapolis/St. Paul area. Thanks for everything, Shelly!
About the Host, Shelly
My partner Eileen and I have been thinking and building together for 25 years. This home exemplifies all of our desires of what we'd love to have in a house: Surrounded by wonderful neighbors in the richly diverse West Side of Saint Paul; Cozy interior furnishings and a spacious backyard; a fun and inviting front porch; and, to top it all off, the house is fully furnished with everything a traveler will desire, best of all a warm and cozy feeling of home.
