The space

Enjoy paradise in this darling "casita" situated on the grounds of one of the most admired private properties in downtown Boquete.

The cozy, comfy and convenient one-room guest cottage sits behind a charming wrought iron gate overlooking a beautiful bubbling stream.

The "casita" is stocked with mini-fridge, microwave, toaster-oven, electric kettle, Boquete coffee and coffee maker - the basics for preparing breakfast or a light meal.

Walk to language school, restaurants & cafes, shopping, golf course, eco-touring, transportation! Or just hang out in the hammock, listening to the running stream.

The setting is perfect for a romantic weekend, a week of Spanish language immersion, or a longer visit to explore all of the region.

If you are considering a move to Panama, I would be happy to answer questions and give you some 'insider' tips.

I am an artist, working in multimedia- acrylics, oil, fiber, collage, polymer clay. I give classes from time to time in my home studio.

My late husband, Mort, founded Morton's Bakehouse, a well known artisan bakery in Alto Boquete. I am continuing his legacy, running the bakery. A delicious fresh bread awaits you!

Maggie, our sweet Labradoodle, and I look forward to welcoming you as our honored guests.

See our many glowing reviews. Our guests often remark that we have thought of every detail a visitor might need to make for a truly comfortable stay. We are proud of that!

Interaction with guests

We welcome our guests with a fresh bread. We enjoy a chat now and then, or share glass of wine, but generally our guests are on their own to have fun, explore, etc. We are always happy to answer questions or give advice when requested. Maggie, our labradoodle, enjoys visiting our guests. She will be as available as you wish.

The neighborhood

Our home is situated in town, a block from the Main Street. It is a pleasant area with level streets for walking or jogging. Bike rentals around the corner. Friendly neighbors, many restaurants and cafes.

Getting around

Buses and taxis - private and shared- are plentiful and inexpensive. We have a list of drivers to call, some of whom speak English.

Other things to note

Check in and check out times are flexible, but we would appreciate check out by 10 AM to allow for preparation for arriving guests. We are happy to securely store luggage if guests have an afternoon flight. Siimlarly, if guests arrive before the casita is ready, we will happily welcome them and secure the luggage so guests can explore the town.

House Rules

We ask our guests to keep the gate closed and locked. We appreciate knowing about any problems in the casita, so that we can take care of them expeditiously. We love tidy guests who keep the property clean, recycle and dispose of garbage promptly.

I live in Boquete, Panama - a charming town in the coffee growing region of Panama, not too far from the border with Costa Rica. I live here with our sweet dog Maggie, a Labradoodle, and am enjoying a great adventure - improving my Spanish, learning about the wonderful Panamanian culture, becoming an "inn keeper" in the process.

I make and teach art in my art studio. I give classes on silk painting, and also do watercolor, acrylic and work with polymer clay. The setting here in Boquete is so stimulating and inspirational - such an array of colors. Mort, an attorney, is known as The Rye Guy. He bakes the most incredible artisan bread in a wood fired clay oven that we built! Our bakery, Morton's Bakehouse, opened in 2013. Sign up for a bread class at the bakery!

We enjoy welcoming visitors to our Cottage by the River, sharing information about life in Panama and insider tips about Boquete. Because our home is in town, we can walk to the market, restaurants, cafes and shops. And when the wood oven is fired up, we enjoy having our friends drop in for some fresh bread or a pizza.
