The space

Enjoy paradise in this darling "casita" situated on the grounds of one of the most admired private properties in downtown Boquete.

The cozy, comfy and convenient one-room guest cottage sits behind a charming wrought iron gate overlooking a beautiful bubbling stream.

The "casita" is stocked with mini-fridge, microwave, toaster-oven, electric kettle, Boquete coffee and coffee maker - the basics for preparing breakfast or a light meal.

Walk to language school, restaurants & cafes, shopping, golf course, eco-touring, transportation! Or just hang out in the hammock, listening to the running stream.

The setting is perfect for a romantic weekend, a week of Spanish language immersion, or a longer visit to explore all of the region.

If you are considering a move to Panama, I would be happy to answer questions and give you some 'insider' tips.

I am an artist, working in multimedia- acrylics, oil, fiber, collage, polymer clay. I give classes from time to time in my home studio.

My late husband, Mort, founded Morton's Bakehouse, a well known artisan bakery in Alto Boquete. I am continuing his legacy, running the bakery. A delicious fresh bread awaits you!

Maggie, our sweet Labradoodle, and I look forward to welcoming you as our honored guests.

See our many glowing reviews. Our guests often remark that we have thought of every detail a visitor might need to make for a truly comfortable stay. We are proud of that!

Interaction with guests

We welcome our guests with a fresh bread. We enjoy a chat now and then, or share glass of wine, but generally our guests are on their own to have fun, explore, etc. We are always happy to answer questions or give advice when requested. Maggie, our labradoodle, enjoys visiting our guests. She will be as available as you wish.

Other things to note

Check in and check out times are flexible, but we would appreciate check out by 10 AM to allow for preparation for arriving guests. We are happy to securely store luggage if guests have an afternoon flight. Siimlarly, if guests arrive before the casita is ready, we will happily welcome them and secure the luggage so guests can explore the town.

Barbara's place was fantastic. It's just off the Main Street in Boquette and so it feels like you are in the centre of town, but because it is one street back from the road, all you can hear is the stream that runs through her house, thus making you feel like you are in a little oasis. Her garden is beautiful and tidy. The room is a separate block next to the main house giving you all the privacy you need. It is beautifully decorated and kitted out with everything you may need for your stay. Barbara is often around should you need anything but keeps her distance and respects your privacy. Having said that, she is always keen to help if you have any issues. Maggie (her dog) is placid and lovely and very friendly. We never did make it to her bakery, but Barbara treated us to some ciabatta when we arrived late at night and it was delicious. Overall, a fantastic place to stay and would happily return.

The place is all you need for a cozy stay in Boquete. Close to everything but quiet; you sleep with the sound of the creek in the background. Barbara and her dog are lovely hosts.

Barbara's home is set in a "magic" garden. It is difficult to believe that you are in the center of town. The wonderful plants and flowers combine with the stream and cool breeze to make for a very peaceful setting. The casita is very well equipped and quite comfortable. We left the windows open at night to hear the stream. Barbara supplied us with delicious treats from her bakery. This is a place you don't want to miss in Boquete.

We had a great stay. Wonderful, clean and inviting. Wonderful location only 1 1/2 blocks from the "main" intersection in town. Couldn't be better. Barbara was very classy lady and was ready to answer questions when asked, couldn't ask for a better host. Highly recommend.

Barbara's cottage was awesome. We spent 2 nights in it. The first thing to note is that it is on the premise of her property but detacted as its own building. In it is a private bedroom and bath. The location is great as it allows easy access to the local town where you can grab beers (boquete brewery) or food (retrogusto). We did a coffee tour while we were in boquete and visited a honey farm (boquete bees). Everything in parenthesis was recommended by barbara and i'd second. The checkin process was also assisted by the fact that barbara has her own shop that is on the way from the airport. If i had to be critical, the security gate is a little janky (but didnt feel unsafe).

Barbara User ProfileBarbara is a superhost.

I live in Boquete, Panama - a charming town in the coffee growing region of Panama, not too far from the border with Costa Rica. I live here with our sweet dog Maggie, a Labradoodle, and am enjoying a great adventure - improving my Spanish, learning about the wonderful Panamanian culture, becoming an "inn keeper" in the process.

I make and teach art in my art studio. I give classes on silk painting, and also do watercolor, acrylic and work with polymer clay. The setting here in Boquete is so stimulating and inspirational - such an array of colors. Mort, an attorney, is known as The Rye Guy. He bakes the most incredible artisan bread in a wood fired clay oven that we built! Our bakery, Morton's Bakehouse, opened in 2013. Sign up for a bread class at the bakery!

We enjoy welcoming visitors to our Cottage by the River, sharing information about life in Panama and insider tips about Boquete. Because our home is in town, we can walk to the market, restaurants, cafes and shops. And when the wood oven is fired up, we enjoy having our friends drop in for some fresh bread or a pizza.
