The Space

This space provides plenty of privacy as it is physically detached from the main residence and includes lots of yard space and a pond to relax by. There are two, queen-sized beds and, if need be, room on the floor for others in your party. Also present are a private bath with shower, dining area, refrigerator, and coffee-maker. There is not a kitchen. The house is centrally located between Burlington, Montpelier, and Stowe. Enjoy the excellent resort skiing in close proximity (Stowe 20 minutes, Sugarbush 30 minutes, Mad River Glen 30 minutes, Bolton 20 minutes). Premiere mountain biking, hiking, and cross-country skiing are within walking (or biking) distance (mountain bikers and nordic skiers: these are the best trails in VT -- ask for a tour ahead of time). We are nestled among the foothills of Vermont's Worcester Range (Mount Hunger, Stowe Pinnacle) just a short drive from the highway exit.

The nearby village of Waterbury offers Ben and Jerry's, Green Mountain Coffee Roasters, and The Alchemist Cannery. There are wonderful restaurants like Hen of the Wood, Tanglewoods, and Michael's on the Hill. Or, after a long day in the mountains stay in and order pizza for delivery from Jimmz to enjoy in your private space.

Quick Breakdown:
--Quick access to interstate (without being close enough to hear)
-- Apartment separate from house (more privacy).
--Two queen size beds, full bath, dining area.
--Sleeps two (or two couples) comfortably.
--Stellar views.
-- Parking
-- Pets allowed (discuss with owners).

Important note: Consider calling ahead for local road/driveway conditions as living in a rural area sometimes presents a challenge for low, two-wheel drive vehicles (that said, we have a honda civic which works 95+ percent of the time). Also, there is no kitchen where food can be cooked.

  • The location was awesome. We loved the quiet and the scenery. Sunsets over the pond were fabulous. The apartment was private and clean. We walked the roads around the neighborhood and saw lots of wildflowers.

  • John's property was just perfect! It was a great little apartment perfect for sleeping, showering, enjoying a beautiful and peaceful Vermont view, and being at a location that allowed my family to easily get to lots of wonderful and exciting Vermont destinations.

  • Our host was extremely accommodating, very knowledgeable about the area, and a pleasure to hang out with. The living space is a beautiful loft above a detached garage with coffee maker, private bathroom, refrigerator, tv, and 2 double beds. High ceilings with plenty of skylights. Our own lawn space if we needed it overlooking breathtaking scenery. It simply was an out of this world experience for the short amount of time we stayed. We felt more than welcome and if we needed anything, our host was more than willing to provide. The house was within 15 minutes of incredible beer, food, and sights. Lastly, communication was excellent making our stay very smooth. I highly recommend this space and cannot wait to return.

  • We had a very good experience. The location was perfect for our trip. The b&b space is larger and more comfortable than I expected from the photos. John is very nice and he was accommodating for arrival and departure times. Beautiful property and views. There are no kitchen facilities (you won't be cooking) but there's a small fridge and coffeemaker. This was fine for us.

  • This absolutely beautiful property is just a short drive from the freeway and downtown Waterbury. The friendly host greeted us at our arranged time and showed us the apartment above the detached garage. The peaceful and private accommodation was a clean, large 2 queen bed unit with a microwave, small refrigerator, dining table, radio, and tv. There are 2 sky lights above the beds that let in the early morning light. Staying in this little gem truly added a special touch to our vacation.

  • The hosts were great! John made us feel welcomed and had great recommendations for food and hiking. They went above and beyond for your privacy and comfort needs. The place was well kept and spacious, but what stands out most is the amazing mountain view.

For great restaurants right in the town of Waterbury, check out Prohibition Pig and Reservoir. Montpelier is worth the short drive, it had an awesome Food co-op if you're into local food and healthy fare as well as some great bookstores and places to eat.

We highly recommend this place and we would definitely go back.

  • We had a wonderful stay with John. John was very accommodating to our plans as they changed due to car trouble(Vermont potholes will bend rims!) John was very communicative and I knew what to expect, but be warned the house is 2mi out on a dirt road. We had no issue with it at all though. The room itself was big and plenty warm on a cold night. The house was about 10 minutes away from Main St in Waterbury. John gave great tips on things in area to try. The view from the property is gorgeous.

Our hosts were easy to communicate with and offered tips on best places to eat and ski.
