Lizzie was an absolutely wonderful host. She helped us with getting settled in the room to calling us a taxi for us to explore around Belize. Her warmth and welcoming attitude only made our stay that much more memorable. We would not imagine staying anywhere else. Lizzie and her family are a gem to be found in the beauty that is Belize! We are definitely coming back!!
This was our first trip to Belize and was very excited to be there. Lizzie was contacted via email for transporting from the airport. We waited about an hour, but no Lizze. We took a cab to the resident, after finding out Lizzie was out of town. The apartment was still being cleaned up on arrival. The apartment was infested with TERMITES (pictures can be provided). I must comment her on staging, because she had us fooled. After several days there we were without HOT WATER for 4 days. I think maybe the propane tank was empty, therefore no HOT WATER. On April 20, 2015 someone from the electrical company came by. He turned the power off for non payment. Lizzie was email and called about the matter, but she did not reply until my return to the U.S. Lizzie tried to make it seem like a power outage, but the other neighbors power was on. I observed the person turn the power off and then put a tab under the meter, just like in the U.S. when it's turned off for non payment. I had to spent additional money for a hotel room, because Lizze failed to pay the electrical bill. I think that's a expense I should not occur. The Belize trip was good.
Thanks for choosing to stay with us and for your input. I did contact my guest in advance advising from early the morning for them to take a taxi as I was not able to make it back to town in time. I also arrange for someone to clean the apartment and check them as well. When came back to the City, I went to meet my guests and at that time I was notified about the sofa issue which I observed myself. I do have people that help out and it should've been taken care of before they check-in, unfortunately it wasn't. I immediately changed out the sofa for them and replaced it, thereafter I checked in on them to see if there were any other issue and they stated all was well. They ask me to assist with tours and I did find them an operator who gave them a great deal on tours. Yes we do have hot water gas that went out and the gas company came and refilled the very same day. I can't comment on the electrical issue because all weekend we had power outage and I was not on the premise to comment on the happenings all I know is when I returned there was power on the premises so I can't comment to say if that happened or not. What I can say is that the TV and Fan was on in the apartment and we didn't know when the guests left. They had ask the same tour operator to transport them to the airport at checkout and the operator came and knocked and waited for a while and after contacting me several times he left as I was advising him to knock because the tv and fan were on so I assumed they were still inside. Later I found a note in the mailbox with the key about the power of which again I can't comment because there was power at the property. I checked with the electric company and they said they did not authorize any disconnection for our premise as we were current so I honestly cannot say what happen with that or if it really happened. We did not get disconnected as verified by the electric company's records. We know we can't please everyone and at times guests will not be satisfied but we will continue to strive to keep our guests comfortable and satisfied.
Lizzie is a great host! Energetic & kind, willing to give you information about the area and where to eat. The place is just as described! Very clean and neat. Perfect if you're staying for a week since there's a kitchen. There are nearby dogs guarding property that bark periodically but that's about it. Safe neighborhood right outside the city. I will definitely book again with Lizzie when I'm in Belize City!
Unfortunately, Lizzie was asleep when we arrived precisely at 3PM when she recommends that her guests check-in. We did our best to contact her, knocking on the door of her office on the main level, phoning, texting and emailing her but were not able to get ahold of her. We eventually contacted Air BnB for assistance (Air BnB customer service was INCREDIBLE by the way) but they were also unable to get make contact with her. Thankfully, her neighbour saw us and very graciously helped us get in touch with her (we found Belizeans to be amazingly friendly). The whole ordeal took almost an hour, and we had had a long day of travel prior to that, so it sort of set us off on a bad foot.
The apartment is spacious and it was nice to have a full kitchen. However, being from a cold climate, we are not at all accustomed to living with large tropical cockroaches. During the day, we wouldn't see any, but each night we saw about a half dozen around the apartment. This was unpleasant for us, and had we known, we may have chosen other accommodations.
We did feel safe in the neighbourhood, and probably more safe than we would have felt in a more downtown area. A great supermarket and restaurants were all walking distance and a taxi to downtown should only cost 10$ Belize (5$ US), so the location worked well for us. There are a lot of dogs in the neighbourhood, and they do bark late at night and early in the morning, but we come from a big city and the noise didn't bother us at all.
Thank you for your feedback, much appreciated. I honestly didn't know you were waiting for almost an hour you must've arrived a little early, sorry about that. Unfortunately, we share the same space in the earth with insects same as the rest of the world so insects are bound to show up from time to time no matter how much we treat our homes with pesticides especially given our tropical climate. Its all part of the circle of life. Thank you for choosing to stay with us. Cheers.
Great location and a clean, comfortable space. Lizzie is lovely - I only wish we could have stayed with her longer! We loved Belize and would stay with Lizzie again for sure the next time we visit. Hopefully sooner than later :)
There was a problem with the phone servic in Belize, but the place is easy to find and Lizzie lives upstairs, so it woked out fine. She is a kind and very helpful host. We would gladly stay here again!
The room is nice, big and clean. Lizzie is nice and has good recommendations for food and drinks around the place.
The downlows are: it's a 15- minutes ride by bus to town and there are many dogs in the neighbourhood who bark a lot during the night.
Bring earplugs if you sleep lightly.

About the Host, Lizzie
Humble, funny and ambitious with a to-die for personality, "so I've been told". I am definitely a people person. I love life and is grateful for each day I wake up to experience a new day. I appreciate people and believe you should do unto others as you would have them do unto you. I love and truly appreciate everything nature offers from a awesome rainy day to a swelthering hot day. I do not complain but embrace each moment as a a special gift and as if it were my last to experience. I love traveling, swimming, singing, visiting new places and meeting new people. I live in Beautiful, Scenic, Belize, a country with a world of untold wealth topped off with a warm friendly, loving People! I am perfectly imperfect and I am humbled that My Creator, the One True God Creator of All things seen and unseen, Is my EVERYTHING! WELCOME TO MY WORLD!
