The Space

Our bungalow is located in the Historic Old Northeast section of St. Petersburg, within easy walking distance of downtown, where guests can visit the Dali Museum, Morean Arts Chihuly Collection, fine restaurants, the bay and pier and much much more. We love St. Petersburg because it is a diverse, progressive and vibrant community, a wonderful place to explore the arts and great culture with beautiful white sand beaches an easy 15 minute drive away. Spectacular and quiet, Ft. DeSoto has been ranked the #1 beach in America. Sunken Gardens is located two blocks away: in the 50s it was a sinkhole turned tourist trap but today the city owns these beautiful botanical gardens, a feast for the senses We offer a fantastic birding location with lovely walking paths along the bay. Unlike much of the gulf coast, we find that our neighborhood offers the very best of Florida without that overcrowded pink flamingo tourist feeling. This prime location offers peace and quiet with easy access, period. Easy from the airports, easy to the bay and gulf, easy to downtown and easy to the rest of the gulf coast.

Guest Access

Guests have full access to the house, with convenient on-street parking. The small updated kitchen has everything you need for dining in and there is a charcoal grill and outdoor, covered porch dining space. The two story garage behind the house has the owner's office and is not accessible to guests beyond retrieving bicycles, by prior arrangement from the owners.

Interaction with Guests

We travel back and forth between Florida and our home in the mountains outside Asheville, NC. When we are not in Florida, we have a welcoming manager couple to address the needs of guests as well as providing cleaning service at the end of each guest's stay. We are always available by email/phone. In addition we have close friends living immediately across the street who are also available to answer questions.

The Neighborhood

What do we love about our neighborhood? The egret that comes to sit on the car in the morning. The coopers hawks (Hannibal and The Missus) who raise their family in the nest of the live oak out front. Morning walks to the bay to say hello to the manatee at the seawall. Fourth Street Shrimp Store. Duncan McClellan's glassworks. The Morean. The Mahaffey Theater. Half-Century fast pitch baseball. The Grand Prix of St. Petersburg. Fireworks and First Night by the Bay. An abundance of great restaurants, from inexpensive to elegant dining. Really? What's not to love?

Getting around

Guests can walk or bike to most everything. In addition, St. Petersburg offers a complete bus based mass transit system. There's a trolley that runs hourly from downtown to the beaches. Drive over the fantastic Skyway Bridge to Sarasota and points south. Downtown Tampa is 20 minutes away. Publix, Fresh Market and soon, Trader Joes are within 1.5 miles.

Other Things to Note

This house is suitable for a couple, maybe family with older child, several friends. It is absolutely not the "Spring Break of your dreams" house. (sorry, but we are firm on that. You want to be on a balcony at the beach, anyway.)

  • We absolutely loved our time at Vicki's bungalow. Even better than the photos, it was everything we could have wanted to give us a breather from weeks of hotel room stays. Charming house - lovely large, airy rooms - decks to relax on (recommend the covered deck at this time of year to avoid insect bites) - every amenity you might need - and a great location within easy reach of everything in St Pete. Would come back at the drop of a hat!

  • We really enjoyed our stay in this house. The house actually exceeded our expectations from the pictures and listing. It was larger and more spacious than we expected. There are ample porch spaces including a screened-in back porch.

The kitchen was well stocked with cookware, spices, and food staples.

The recommendations from the host were also very good. We went to Ft. De Soto Park beach, Moon Under Water restaurant, and 6th Street Shrimp Store all based on recommendations from the host.

The house is in a historic neighborhood in St. Petersburg filled with very beautiful houses. We enjoyed walking around the neighborhood looking at the houses. The house is also in walking distance to downtown, the bay, and a very large park.

We would definitely stay here again.

  • The true delights are in the surprises. Doing something like this for the first time is always exciting, you never know what you'll find but hope for the kind of positive surprise that will stay with you forever. Well, this will stay with us forever !
Do not hesitate, this is such a lovely house and garden. Vicki will make sure everything is in perfect shape when you arrive. Enjoy beautiful St Petersburg and surrounding beaches, nature trails and the Rays. We were with a family with 2 kids of 7 and 9 and the boys loved it. Thanks Vicki !

  • Vicki's beautiful house exceeded our expectations. The house is impeccably maintained and immaculate. The house rules are clear and Vicki was available to respond to the questions I had promptly. The neighborhood is beautiful old NE in St. Pete with huge old trees, very quiet and tranquil yet within walking distance of the bay, shopping, etc. We were just 2 so each of us had a big bedroom and attached bath, plus the rest of the house. Parking was fine.
Thanks again Vicki. We look forward to a longer stay next year.

  • This was our first experience with airbnb and it absolutely could not have been better. The house was wonderful...just as the photos and description promised...and our hosts were so kind and welcoming. We arrived to find the house clean, quiet, beautiful and we instantly felt at home both in the house and in the larger neighborhood. Everything from the soft fresh towels to the yummy selection of teas and coffees to the gorgeously landscaped yard served to make our stay in St. Petersburg a relaxing experience full of happy times, new friends, and amazing adventures. Thank you so much, Vicki!
