Description

The space

This space was designed by the University of NC to house a traveling art exhibit. Its a unique, space efficient room with a full size bed and not much room for anything else. There's a private bathroom with beautiful tile work.

Guest access

Guests have access to the grounds with hammocks, fire pit, and the cafe space after its closed at 2 p.m.

Interaction with guests

We love to learn about our guests, but also have a busy cafe to run. As a result, we tend to leave our guests to their own devices.

The neighborhood

This is a great town with creative shops downtown, a tiger rescue facility down the road, and one of the best restaurants in the Raleigh/Durham area. Add that to hiking trails and a nearby lake and there's no shortage of things to do here.

Getting around

There is no public transportation in this town.

The Treehouse room is amazing!! So fun, and really comfortable too. We also loved breakfast at the cafe both mornings, will definitely stay here again next visit!

This is a one of a kind place, great value and very relaxed and fun. The owners are very gracious and have created a place with a lot of character and comfort. The Guest House room is spacious, clean, comfortable--and both modern and rustic in its design. The breakfast is wonderful at the attached cafe (as is any other meal you want to have there). Very close to downtown Pittsboro too, with some really cool places to get food, drink, antiques, used books, records, etc. It's also a short drive to the amazing Carolina Tiger Rescue and Lake Johnson. I highly recommend staying here.

I was in Pittsboro to write songs with an old friend of mine who lived in town. This was a great spot to have some privacy, be right in the town, and take it easy--made the visit exceptional. The breakfasts were great, and the staff was above and beyond attentive to my needs. The treehouse is definitely a small room, but it's comfortable and the bathroom amenities were well stocked. Many thanks.

We loved our stay at Small! It's a very unique property with a cafe and folk art museum on site. You can walk to historic downtown Pittsboro, so it's a great base for exploring the town. I highly recommend the lemon ricotta pancakes...thanks for the fun weekend!

You can tell from the second you meet Lisa, that she is a warm, sweet and generous woman. The tree house was so unique, cozy but the bathroom was super roomy. We were greeted by one the cafe's employee who was very welcoming and by the soul of the cafe, little sweet Luna! You have access to all the cool and unusual structures and surroundings. Downtown is really close so you can go take your time to browse the antiques stores and get a shake from ST soda shoppe! The absolute best part of it all, apart from Lisa, was the breakfast... Oh my, those lemon ricotta pancakes are still on our minds and will make us come back from Raleigh without a doubt!! See you in Raleigh Lisa!!

The grounds are wonderful - funky and inviting. My hosts were truly accommodating and friendly (especially given their morning/afternoon job of running the café too!). Speaking of the café, it's great not to have a strict breakfast deadline, like some B&Bs do. I could wake up and start the day at my own pace, then mosey over to the warm and inviting restaurant for a delicious meal. Do note that the cabin is essentially a bed, a chair, and a bathroom (with a nice largish shower). All of those are comfortable, but you're not going to get a couch or table. They have a larger family-sized cabin for that. Also, if you and your partner have any width, the bed probably won't accommodate two. For my solo creative retreat, however, it was the perfect place. Thanks!
