About this listing
Apartment located in the historical Old city of San Juan. Great balcony view and close to all the great restaurants and shopping streets. Still quiet and comfortable for a good sleep. One queen size bed & 2 full size futons, for up to 4 people.
**** At the moment (due to security and cleaning issues), we are not accepting reservations from guests with children younger than 6yrs old stay at our place. Sorry for the inconvenience***
This apartment has one private bedroom with a queen size bed, one bathroom, a kitchen, a common area with two futons and a small terrace over-viewing 'Plaza Barandilla'. Great for single travelers, couples or a group of 4.
It's located in a central area of Old San Juan and within walking distance of all the cities main attractions, areas of historical significance, colonial buildings, plazas, cafes, restaurants, shopping district, live music venues and events!!! We love to meet our guests and share information about other places to visit within Puerto Rico and around the world!
This is a 3rd floor apartment and there are no elevators... all stairs! So, you get a great stay and a small workout, all-in-one ;) The building and the apartment itself is quite old (it has the original floor tiles, high ceilings, iron and elaborated stairs handrail) but it is kept clean and in great condition. Since Old San Juan is the oldest settlement within Puerto Rico, the building is a nice example of early Spanish colonial architecture. San Francisco street is safe and well lit ; there are always people and local residents strolling the area so, feel free to mingle at any time.
Although breakfast is not provided, coffee, tea and drinking water will be available to our guests. At the moment we don't have cable TV, but do have a TV & DVD available, as well as an iPod doc stereo. No internet, but you can get public WiFi access at most of the nearby plazas and cafes.
The entire apartment for you and your family/friends. Access to kitchen, bedroom and bathroom essentials.
Interaction with Guests
When I started on Airbnb I had much more free time... now I work, maybe just a tad bit much :( I usually just meet with the guests for check in, but if you want to hang out or have a coffee sometime, I'll make it happen. For anything else, I am just a phone call away and you can always email me, or text as well.
Everything in Old San Juan is within walking distance from our place. The tourist trolley stops right in front of our building - hop on for a short ride around Old San Juan and hear some historical information. You can also rent bikes, take a short taxi drive or the public bus to nearby touristy and beach areas - Escambrón, Condado, Isla Verde.

This lovely apartment was exactly as it appears in the photos, with a lovely view off the quaint balcony where you can enjoy morning coffee or a meal (for two) overlooking a tree-filled park. The beds were very comfortable with plenty of linens, towels and a huge closet with shelves we found very convenient. Carla met us very late (early am) and showed us the apartment which we appreciated. It is well located in lovely Old San Juan. We rented a car and most places (el Yunque, bio bay kayaking, Aricebo) were about an hour out of town. Parking could be a problem, but we asked for and got a good deal for the week at the garage right on the street where the flat is located.
This little apartment in the heart of old San Juan was so comfortable that we hardly wanted to leave. Close to everything including great restaurants and the local grocery store. The air conditioning works great and serves a great escape from the SJ heat. The balcony is beautiful and you can smell the ocean on a windy day. Very close to one of the forts and right next to a trolly stop although we didnt need it. Wonderful hosts and a stock apartment made living easy. Thanks to Carla and her father for making our stay a good one.
It was our first time in Puerto Rico and we loved our stay in the capital! Carla's apartment is perfectly located in the heart of Old San Juan, on busy Calle San Francisco but overlooking a lovely and quite tree-shaded square surrounded by elegant buildings. The view from the balcony is beautiful!
There's a lot of light coming inside the old charming living room/kitchen (and therefore heat -but the big tall open windows and the air conditioning provide a cool breeze if needed) and the two rooms are clean, spacious and bright. The bathroom is really small but has everything that you need.
The bakery "La Mallorca" down the street is simply a must for breakfast! Full of the Old San Juan atmosphere and a wonderful chance to spot locals getting their morning mallorca and café. Pastries are all delicious!
Carla met us right after we arrived and she was very helpful in showing us what to see around the city. For dinner I suggest at El Jibarito, two blocks away and with a good comida criolla selection, though a bit pricey.
The only thing I would suggest would be to ask Carla for a second pair of keys, since you need them for all three doors to get out and get in. Also note that the apt is in an old, historical building, on the third floor with no elevator: pack small luggage!
Everything else is perfect :-)
We enjoyed the chance to stay at Carla's beautiful apartment in Old San Juan. It was fully furnished and included a kitchen/living room, bathroom and comfortable bedroom. Several items for cooking, eating, grooming and cleaning are available including a first aid kit. The bed itself was comfortable and away from the street so nights were quiet and peaceful. There was an air conditioning unit that cooled the place down rather quickly. The best part of each morning was opening the full size porch doors and shutters, then looking out into the City. We were within walking distance of El Morro, many cafe's and restaurants and the ship docks where most excursion companies pick you up. Carla was very helpful and welcoming. Our flight was early and she was able to stop by sooner then we had orginally asked her to, to let us in and show us around. We would recommend a stay!
My teenage daughter and I started off our trip to Puerto Rico in Carla's beautiful apartment. We never met Carla in person due to her work schedule but she was extremely easy to reach via text/phone. The taxi had no issue finding this location from the airport and it was an easy ride in to town. Her father met us at check in and is a really nice man. The apartment is literally within walking distance of everything in Old San Juan. We felt very safe at all times walking around the area. The people are very friendly and we had no problems finding great places to eat, grab a cup of coffee, etc. Her apartment was well equipped and if you did need anything there were several drugstores just down the street where you could grab just about anything you might need. We loved being able to either open the beautiful shutters to enjoy the view or have the option to close them and turn on the air for a respite from the warm weather. The apartment was exactly as described and was more than big enough for my daughter and I. A group of four could easily stay here as well. Thank you Carla for a great place to stay as we started out our first trip to Puerto Rico!
Carla's apartment was beautiful and a great experience. There were plenty of towels and bathroom amenities. The apartment was located in the heart of Old San Juan and was convenient to walk to restaurants and shops. Carla's father was very helpful and gave us some recommendations nearby.
We had a great stay! The apartment is charming and comfortable and is in a very convenient location to all the sights, shops, and restaurants. We hope to come back again soon!
