Interaction with Guests
I live in an out building a short private distance from the house.
Wonderful 24 acres of serenity, but just a 10 minute drive to Sebastopol where you will find shops, Whole Foods and more.
Only a 10 min bike ride finds you in Graton, hosting a number of road bike friendly hot spots like The Underwood Bar and Bistro and Willow Wood Market Café both have great reviews. 10 min to the north in Forestville, finds our coveted "Backyard" restaurant with seasonal and sustainable produce and local meats on the menu. For the exotic tastes the "Himalayan Tandoori & Curry House" has a 4 star review and has lit the hearts of many.
Sebastopol Bike Center in downtown, rents bikes. It's just 6 miles, or 14 minutes away.
My two favorite wineries are
1. Chalk Hill Estate Winery, great Chardonnay, beautiful grounds
2. Preston of Dry Creek Vineyards, organic reds, small production, outstanding quality.
There is also a very cool collection of breweries and wineries in the Barlow, downtown Sebastopol, that is fun to look around in.
The wine guy, at Andy's a local market just 4 miles, 8 minutes from here stocks wine from all over the area and could advise you on visiting the wineries that may be of best interest to you.
Our local roads are idealic for road bicyclist and local walking trails.
Property has plenty of parking.

Lovely, bucolic setting and wonderfully comfortable house. Catherine thought of everything...fresh eggs from her chickens and even a brilliant (and very well-behaved) dog to play with.
The property has one of the most beautiful oak trees I've ever seen, which was occupied by a family of red-tailed hawks.
Catherine was a great host! The house is as it looks online - tons of space, beautiful grounds, quite secluded. She was even flexible with our check in time, allowing us to show up early. We had a great time, and recommend this house for anyone looking to get away from the city for a weekend.
Catherine was a wonderful host, and was very accommodating around check-in and easy to communicate with. She brought us fresh eggs and bread to make a cozy and comfortable morning. Her property is breathtaking and sitting on the top porch was wonderful. The roosters crowed a bit early, but definitely gave us the full effect! We had a great stay.
Catherine's house was a perfect retreat. The house was rustic and spacious. The best part was sitting on the upper patio and simply getting lost in the beauty of the fields and sounds of the birds and chickens. Followed by a round of catch with Sugar, her dog. The house was conveniently located between Forestville and Graton, both small towns with some great restaurants. The chickens were up early and we had to deal with some flies in the kitchen but hey, that's life in the country. And that didn't stop us from enjoying the fresh eggs left for us.
Catherine has been a wonderful host as a provider and new found joyful and informative friend. She is engaging while respecting others space. Always willing to provide assistance and easily accessible, while at the same time you don't realize she lives just next door. I love the home- wish I could of just moved in permanently! And it was very helpful that while well-stocked with kitchen essentials it is open to full use as no one lives directly in the house. My son's wedding was June 6th and it provided ample space for all my cooking and decorative projects. My guest from Ohio loved it. I had friends come by before the wedding I hadn't seen in 16 years- we enjoyed a cozy visit at the big table. When you step into it you feel like you are pleasantly going back in time while at the flip of a remote you can turn on a huge flat screen TV ( I avoided that, but it helped hubby relax after I had worked him to death). The home and grounds are calming and serene. The huge Redwood in the front yard and the oak with the hawks nest was another step into nature. Our first early morning we were greeted with the sight of 3 small deer right off the back door. Horses can be observed in the back acreage. Along with other helpfulness Catherine recycles, so she didn't mind the containers I left there. Another unexpected blessing was being able to make an impromptu single Bridal bouquet from her Rose Garden when we went on the Napa Wine Train on 6/8-most everybody dressed up again- either bridal or Vintage 20's. I had suddenly realized we needed something and the antique style roses were perfect, superb. A couple pictures with the floral bouquet make it look like my daughter-in-law came from a different era in time. Thanks to Catherine and her garden additional beauty was added. Wish I could post pictures here. On a side note my dog loving friends adored her dog "Sugar", and one of my guest made me be sure to send him pictures. Guess who now is a star on FB! I got a great pic of what I call Chicken challenging along with sweet playfulness. I am very appreciative of Catherine allowing us to use her home. She was a great contributor to my being organized and my getting moments of peace at the same time. I felt very connected with nature there which I needed during this time of busyness and wedding management. Thank you Catherine for everything1
Catherine's house was the perfect quiet, relaxing weekend getaway for the 4 of us. Catherine and her dog Sugar greeted us and our friends dog with a nice warm welcome. The house is a beautiful farm house with a wood stove and lots of space with amazing views! We enjoyed waking up the next morning and having fresh organic bread, coffee and fresh chicken eggs. During our visit toured a beautiful winery (Iron Horse Vineyards) just minutes down the road in Sebastapol. Thanks so much for letting us all stay. We can not wait to visit Sebastapol and stay again.
About the Host, Catherine
I live in Sebastopol in a house next to the one I rent. I am an artist. I like to paint plein air landscapes and people. I am an avid cook and prepare all my own organic, gluten/casein free meals for several years now. I love my chickens, I currently have only 11 including a rooster but hope to have many more soon. My other past times are gardening for vegetables, butterfly's and bees.
