Interaction with Guests
We are super fun, social and flexible hosts who welcome diversity and all kinds of lifestyles. We love getting to know new people and we are happy to help you however we can.
Because we are both actors, our schedules are sporadic. Joel is home during afternoons, Laura is home late evenings. Sometimes we will both be gone all day. We always make sure to share our schedules with each guest when they stay with us.
When we are home, you will most likely see us in the kitchen cooking. If you are a guest wishing to use our kitchen for your own cooking, please be aware that this is a shared space.
Our bedroom is located on the opposite side of the apartment so you will have lots of privacy and space to yourself at night.
We welcome guests who are open to staying in an urban environment. Our neighborhood is one of the most racially diverse in the city offering a mixture of different languages, foods and cultures. During the day you will hear lots of city noises: dogs barking, kids playing. However at night, it is very quiet.
We live down the street from Humboldt Park, one of the most beautiful parks in Chicago. Filled with natural habitats and Chicago landmarks like the old horse stables and boathouse pavilion, it's beautiful to walk around any time of year. While walking through the neighborhood, you may spot murals that date back to the 1970s. These murals tell stories about the history of the community.
We are a 15 minute walk or 5 minute Bus Ride to Wicker Park 6 corners and Logan Square, the hippest neighborhoods in Chicago. They are great neighborhoods to go for restaurants, nightlife, art galleries, theaters, music venues and thrift shopping.
-15 minute walk to Blue Line, "Western" or "Damen" stop.
-5 minute bus ride to Blue Line, "Western" or "Damen" stop.
-O'Hare Airport: 40 minutes via Blue Line.
-Midway Airport: 1 hour 30 minutes via Orange Line and transfers to Red Line then North Avenue Bus
-Rental Bikes: Divvy Bike Station is a 5 minute walk. (Biking is so much fun in our neighborhood)
-Rental Cars: Zip Car Lot is a 5 minute walk.
Other Things to Note
*We just adopted a sweet little dog named Buddy. He's a small/medium sized terrier/Australian Shepard mix. He is very mild mannered and doesn't bark at all. He's pretty shy and keeps to himself. You will love him as much as we do. Your bedroom is pet free.
*If you are interested in staying with us, but need a different check in or check out time, there is room for flexibility given our availability.
*We often have theater rehearsals in our living room or events downstairs. We will always ASK you first before we schedule the event. All guests are invited to events and rehearsals!
Thanks for checking us out!

About the Host, Laura And Joel
Hi! We're Laura and Joel! Laura is from Miami, Florida and Joel is from Lansing, Michigan. We are both in our late 20s and moved to Chicago to be actors. We are always in a play or auditioning for our next gig. We met in school at Columbia College Chicago and got our degrees in Acting. We're engaged to be married =). During the day, Laura works in development for a non profit organization and Joel is a licensed tour boat captain. At night, we are performing. We are almost always in rehearsal or performing in a play!
We are super friendly, fun and outgoing. We're social butterflies and we absolutely love hosting! We really enjoy meeting new people and helping them experience our beautiful city. As actors we are really open-minded people and love being around a diverse crowd. Chicago is an exciting city to be an artist! We have a wonderfully supportive and talented community of friends. When we aren't hosting Air Bnb guests, we love to invite friends over to rehearse some theater or join us for a dinner party or BBQ!
We are year long bike riders, we love listening to Radiohead, we enjoy cooking yummy vegan meals, and we are totally obsessed with Breaking Bad and House of Cards!
