Nestled on a secluded hilltop, with spectacular views of Lake Arenal, Arenal Volcano and the Children’s Eternal Rain Forest, Birdsong Villa welcomes you to little piece of paradise. Experience an unforgettable holiday in a premier travel destination.
Birdsong Villa is only 3 hours (150km) from two international airports, either in the capital of San Jose, or on the northern pacific coast in Liberia. Birdsong Villa is just 30 minutes from La Fortuna, which offers amenities such as grocery, banking, post office, restaurants, hot springs, excursions and much more.
Birdsong Villa is a unique and luxurious accommodation that offers you the flexibility to rent one or both floors of the villa. Stay in the Bird’s View Suite for $180-night, or the Garden View Suite for $95-night. Have a large group, or are you looking for a bit of privacy? You can rent the entire villa for $275-night.
The Bird’s View Suite is located on the upper floor of the villa with a private entrance. The suite has an open concept, with a large main room for dining, living and sleeping. There are large glass windows that provide stunning 180-degree views of the volcano, lake and rainforest.
The suite has a modern bathroom with a walk-in rain shower (big enough for two!), with excellent water pressure and temperature. The toilet is in a separate room adjacent to the sink. You can also enjoy the outdoor rock shower in a completely enclosed and private area.
The modern kitchen provides all the cooking amenities of home. Our local chef will come cook breakfast every morning, and you are welcome to use the kitchen for all your other meals.
Interaction with Guests
A delicious breakfast is included in your stay. We’ll serve breakfast at your preferred time, or leave the ingredients for your own cooking pleasure. Lunch and dinner can be requested for a fee.
You don't need to leave the yard to experience Pura Vida in Costa Rica. As you sit out on the observation deck and the sunshine warms your skin, close your eyes and listen to the melody of the birds and howler monkeys, all set against the rushing waters of the Piedras Negras River and nearby waterfalls.
Experience the ultimate Costa Rican holiday with some of our recommended day trips. The Arenal area has it all, from zip-lining, water rafting, hot springs, butterfly conservatory, wind surfing, fishing, extreme hiking, birding, and more. Everything you could ask for is less than an hour away so you will spend more time enjoying your holiday and less time driving.
Arenal Birdsong Villa is located 10 minutes from the small town of El Castillo, and 30 minutes from the large town of La Fortuna.
We recommend that you rent a 4 wheeled drive SUV when you stay at Birdsong. The lane to the villa is very "rugged". Vamos Car Rental is our preferred rental agency.
We want all our guests to experience a little piece of paradise on their holiday. This is why we do not permit smoking, pets or other allergy triggers.
The place is fantastic! Allan was very easy to get along with. We pretty much had our plans before arriving but had we not he would have been a source for food or activities. I do wish we had another day or two to take it all in. We were also lucky to see Arenal with no clouds! Simply breathe taking from the house. Thank you for everything we loved it!
Alan is a great host, and his place is unbelievable. The view of Arenal is surreal, and we enjoyed mornings above the fog in the valley, watching cloud fronts hit the volcano, and star-lit nights. The decor is worldly, and the place rustic, but please don't come expecting a 5-star resort. The house is beautiful, with open beam ceilings and three walls of solid glass. For us ourdoor enthusiasts it was right about in paradise. Fantastic local fruit for breakfast on the patio, prepared in our kitchen by Alan's staff.
There's a great restaurant just a few hundred meters down the hill at Napenthe - we at there both nights and enjoyed it thoroughly.
We had one night in Arenal area before we headed back to NY, Allan was a great host and his house was beautiful! I wish we had another day there to explore the area! the directions to the place were great! (you deff need a 4WD!) it take about 20 minutes to travel from the main road but the view from the top of the mountain is mind blowing!
We loved it! thanks Allen!
The views from Bird Song Villa are stunning. We felt as if we were in a tree house—or floating on air. Allan, our host, cordially greeted us shortly after we arrived and had breakfast with us each morning. He willingly shares knowledge about the area and is able to connect guests with activities they would enjoy. He connected us with Charley’s Finca where we went horseback riding and had lunch for $95.00/U.S. He also facilitated getting a load of laundry done, 7,000 colones, or $13.00 (higher than elsewhere but convenient). Breakfasts with Allan and his two birds Polly and Pico were a great way to start the day. I must say, though, we ate our best breakfast on the day Allan’s cook did not show because my husband cooked (apologies Allan).
Allan was a wonderful host and very welcoming! He was waiting for us when we arrived and gave a great tour of the property - which was even more beautiful in real life! I miss the view of the Arenal volcano already. I would absolutely stay here again - but for longer next time. Allan was right: 2 days is just not enough to truly and fully explore La Fortuna. The ecotourism was abounding and my absolute favorite part of our trip to Costa Rica! The house is a bit difficult to find, but if you follow signs or directions to Nepenthe hotel, the house is just further up the hill. A final recommendation: the dinner that Allan offers for the arrival night and the complimentary breakfasts are cooked by a local couple and is phenomenal!
We had a great time. Allan is a good host and everything that we wanted to do was instantly arranged for us. Would stay again.
My husband and I loved our stay at Birdsong Villa. The views from the upper bedroom are incredible -- great for a honeymoon stay. But the view from the more modest lower apartment is not too shabby either!! Hard to beat the beauty of this location. Allan was very gracious, welcoming, and easy to get in touch with, and he provided tons of tips on what to do in the area -- we were sorry we had only booked one night! We chatted with Allan over a delicious dinner cooked by a charming local couple (do not miss this-- it was the best food we ate all week), and the next morning we woke up early with the sun and immediately started birdwatching -- we were amazed at how many animals we saw during our brief stay! Monkeys, toucans, hummingbirds, parrots, iguanas... and more on our hike through the Arenal National Park.
The house is in the middle of a jungle, but it has some great amenities. This place is great for those seeking to escape the touristy areas and relax in a jungle paradise. Definitely would advise renting a 4-wheel drive vehicle -- the roads are steep and could get muddy during the rainy season.
Hands down the best place we stayed during our whole week in Costa Rica!

Nice and very hospitable person.
Stay with us in our secluded villa, an open concept of luxurious living space over two levels, either to be rented independently or together.
We hope you enjoy the house and the city!!
