The Space

Beacon Hill - Quirky, but fun! Located in the very heart of it all - Fabulous restaurants, shops and attractions! Full of history everywhere you look! Just minutes on foot to the State House, Boston Common, museums, financial district, theater district, Chinatown, Metro, Charles River, free concerts on the waterfront, Frog Pond skating, and all major hospitals. It is a furnished basement apartment, not a room and not a share! The apartment which includes cable TV and wireless internet, is very unusual. It has a foyer where you can sit and eat or just spend time watching all the interesting people walk buy! It has a fully equipped kitchen and small living room with basic cable & wireless internet. There are two sleeping areas with double beds. One is off the living room and has a privacy curtain. The second area is in the back and has a door. The bed is raised on a platform but a step stool is there to assist you. The retro, shiny ship wallpaper is a conversation piece! The bathroom facilities are separate from a large cement shower off the back bedroom. The building has old-time heavy wrought iron marble stairs. A washer and dryer are in the basement right out the back door. We provide laundry detergent and a few quarters to wash a load or two! All of this and less of a $25 taxi ride from the airport!

If you plan on staying for a while, Stop & Shop's PeaPod will deliver groceries to "The Hill" for a nominal fee. If you are vegan or just careful what you eat, Whole Foods is just a couple of blocks away.

Beacon Hill’s narrow cobblestoned streets and brick sidewalks are the very essence of old Boston. This historic neighborhood is located directly behind the gold-domed State House adjacent to downtown. Beacon Hill is considered one of the safest neighborhoods in the metropolitan area. Its residential character, tight-knit community, and high level of police protection contribute to its general safety.

Charles and Cambridge Streets are the major commercial strips in Beacon Hill. Charles Street offers some of the most exclusive shopping experiences in the metropolitan area. Cambridge Street is a busy thoroughfare that primarily features restaurants and supermarkets.

Beacon Hill is one of the closest neighborhoods to MIT and is easily accessible to public transportation. The MBTA Charles Street/MGH Red Line station is located in the northwest corner of Beacon Hill and is just one stop away from Kendall/MIT. The Park Street Red Line station, a short walk across the Boston Common, is two stops from MIT.

On-street parking in Beacon Hill is extremely limited. Because this community is so accessible by foot, bicycle, and public transportation, however, there is little need for a car

  • I would like to thank Donna for the place, because it was the perfect match for my family, first floor, with nice appliances etc....
Donna allowed me to check the place before booking and that was really nice of her. Then I was reassured that the place I rented for my family will be fitting my requirements. And it was great. They were happy to live there for a week, close to the T and shops. I really recommend the place.

  • I was in Boston for the marathon and stayed with my parents and girlfriend. Although the apartment is "quirky" we found it to be perfectly sized and you absolutely cannot beat the location.

  • We had a great stay in Boston. Donna's property is located in a fantastic neighbourhood. It is a very quiet area and we found the locals very friendly. The property is quirky, but was very clean and tidy. It is within walking distance on the main attractions.
We had everything we needed and Donna left a welcome pack including toiletries and some snacks.
I can highly recommend the apartment as an alternative to a hotel room. We will be back.

  • I really enjoyed staying here. Its a cute little place near everything! There are cafes, pubs, shops, coffee...anything you need within walking distance. There is a fantastic italian restaurant just down the hill toward MGH that has amazing home made canoli! The breakfasts at Paramount were awesome! Easy few block walk to the T station to get to pretty much anything in Boston. Very comfy and enjoyable stay! Thank you Donna!

  • I was in Boston for a few weeks for work, and I wanted to find something cheaper than a hotel. Donna was a very pleasant host to deal with, both via phone and e-mail. I was in a pickle, trying to find a place to stay on short notice, and her quick response time was a huge convenience.
The unit is a cozy two bedroom in the lower floor. There was food, towels, soap, cable, Wi-fi… all the amenities I could’ve asked for. She even left quarters to do laundry for free across the street, which I thought was really nice. The 5-minute walk to the Red Line was ideal for those mornings when I woke up kind of late to go to work. The neighborhood was also a huge bonus because Cambridge Ave and Charles Ave are teeming with restaurants and coffee shops, so I never had to walk too far to get a bite to eat.

  • This place was exactly as advertised. It's a but quirky, but if you have ever lived in Beacon hill before (or in any large city), you know that space is at a premium. My wife and I stayed with out 8 and 10 year old.

Place is clean, and is in a great location. We had no problems during our stay and greatly enjoyed having a working kitchen during vacaiton. It's a 3 minute walk to the Charles/MGH station on the red line as well as all the great shopping and dining in the Beacon Hill area.

We found the place to be quite relaxing and we'd definitely stay here again.

  • Traveling to Boston from Kansas with our family of 4 (kids ages 6 & 10), this was a great home base to spend a week. The kitchen is great, the front entryway can double as a dining area and the location is amazing. Be sure to plan for a picnic in the public garden (and Donna has the basket available)!

The rooms are small, but pretty typical for an urban apt. As a family we had a great time and the hospitality was great.

Be warned that this apt is near the height of Beacon Hill, so if you stay here and go out to dinner and have a beverage, the hill seems much bigger as you come back from either Charles St or Cambridge St.

  • Donna and Bill were very understanding and helpful. The apartment was some what unique, relatively cosy for 3 adults, but nonetheless it was in a great neighborhood just a few minutes stroll down the street to all the amenities of Beacon Hill. We enjoyed our stay and would definitely return.
