30-min drive to Joshua Tree National Park

This home is near the national park.
The Hacienda is a remote two bed, one bath 1958 home with a plunge pool, hot tub & dark starry skies located 20 mins from the west entrance of Joshua Tree National Park in Joshua Tree, CA and 12 mins to downtown JT.

If would you would prefer being walking distance to town, we would recommend our other property, The House: https://www.airbnb.com/rooms/32694

For larger groups, it's located next door to our Casita:

The space
Welcome to the Hacienda by The Joshua Tree House! This hacienda is an original homesteader with sweeping views of Joshua Tree National Park. It was built in 1958, and expanded upon in later years. What makes the hacienda special are the over 900 acres of protected land around it that serve as a wildlife corridor to Joshua Tree National Park. You'll see many kinds of birds, antelope squirrels, lizards, cottontail rabbits, jack rabbits and maybe even a desert tortoise or a coyote!

The Hacienda is about a 12 minute drive into town, and 15 minutes to the nearest grocery store. If would you would prefer being walking distance to town, we would recommend our other property: The Joshua Tree House (https://www.airbnb.com/rooms/32694)

There are two bedrooms and one bathroom in the hacienda, and works well for a group of friends, two couples, or small families.

If you have a larger group, please check our Casita listing next door:

We hope you love staying at the hacienda as much as we do!

Guest access
While you're staying here, the hacienda will be your private oasis. Feel free to explore the yard and the gardens. You can even hike out straight from the property onto government owned land. Also make sure to enjoy the Jacuzzi and the incredible views!

Other things to note
To get to the hacienda, you'll be driving on dirt roads for about 5 minutes. While four wheel drive is not required, we would suggest it!

The hacienda is down a private driveway with three houses. The hacienda is the second house and is painted white. We also own the pink house nestled up to the boulders (https://www.airbnb.com/rooms/10614974), and the first house are our neighbors. Please be respectful of our neighbors as well as Casita guests. This is meant to be a quiet desert retreat.

It is also possible that our vintage car, an International Harvester Scout may be parked in the driveway during your stay. While it's ok to take a photo with the car, please respect our personal property and space and PLEASE do not climb on or get inside of our car. (We're sorry this needs to be said, but sadly this did happen once).

Transient Occupancy Tax - A 7% TOT tax required by San Bernardino County is included in the nightly rate. For our area, Airbnb does not yet break this down as an extra line item, but rather is included in the base price.

Finally, the house is on a septic system, so PLEASE do not flush anything other than toilet paper. Thank you!

We're designers who have fallen in love with creating spaces for others to reflect, reset, and create. We split our time between two deserts (the Mojave, and the Sonoran). We love the way the heat sinks into our bones, the vibrant sunsets, and the wildlife we get to call our neighbors.
