The neighbourhood is quiet and as such guests should be respectful.
Staying at Mary's house was really an amazing experience. We rent a house 3-4 times a year for vacation, and this house is probably one of the best rental deals we made in the past few years. In case we need again a home for few days at Halifax, we will not hesitate to book it.
We had a great time at Marys house. It is very nice decorated, very clean and has everything in the kitchen you need. The neighbourhod is quite and nice. The location is close to the city and the mal. We really hope to return one day.
We had a lovely stay at Mary's cottage. The neighbourhood was perfect: quiet but just a ten-minute walk to the main roads with lots to see and eat. As light sleepers, we did end up taking down the wind chimes just below the bedroom window. The new heat pump system worked well for heating the house fast. There were tons of pamphlets and brochures for ideas about what to do in the city. Being that we were in Halifax for the winter, there really wasn't too much going on. All the amenities (kitchen, laundry, bedroom, bathroom, etc) were perfect and the candles everywhere were a nice touch.
Mary is a great host. She responds quickly and worked with us when our plane was late and the driving was poor to move around. Mary decorated the house for Christmas and had several candles around that smelled like Christmas trees - a nice touch as we were away from our home for the holidays . She also left a bottle of wine. Lovely music was also playing when we arrived. The house was very well appointed, great furniture and layout. Very new and recently remodeled. Kitchen well equipped. We had family over for dinner and did not have to borrow any dishes or pots to prepare. The location was phenomenal 25 minutes to the airport and 10 minutes to the harbor front and Spring Garden Road. Five minutes to a grocery store and of course Tim Hortons. Every friend or family member who dropped by were very impressed. These are local Haligonians who know there way around the city and real estate and they all thought the house was great and would recommend it to their guests. The beds are very comfortable and the light in the master was lovely - a retreat. Master bath large and has a great tub. Towels thick and soft. Front loading washer and dryer are great additions. Just a great place - I am from Halifax and will always try to stay here when I visit. We have stayed at several Airbnb's and this ranks among the best - great place and great value.
Mary was very welcoming, she met us when we arrived and showed us around the house. The house is wonderful, spacious, with an amazingly well equipped kitchen. We particularly enjoyed the big master bedroom with the comfortable chaise lounge chair, working nook, and the ensuite bathroom.
The neighbourhood is very quiet and your closest neighbour is a church! An additional perk for those who enjoy walking is the Westmount neighbourhood on the other side of Connaught Ave with so many lovely urban walking trails! Excellent for mom-with-a-stroller and kid-on-a-bike walks. And the Halifax Shopping Centre is a 10 min walk away. We enjoyed our experience in the Urban Cottage immensely. Thank you, Mary!
My husband and I have stayed at Mary's place twice now. That pretty much says it all. Mary has been pleasant and efficient with communication, her space is lovely and is conveniently located in beautiful Halifax! We will book her space again!
Mary is very generous, description in the listing is accurate even the cottage was better than the description, neighbourhood was quiet, we got no probleb at all, if i visits agian then definitely will stay at this place, Thanks Mary and Airbnb.
I am retired from the government and recently bought a charming home for rental in the west end of the city. The house has been totally renovated and newly furnished. I enjoy the charm of the house, lovingly called my Urban Cottage. I love the privacy of the backyard, which has beautiful flowering shrubs in the summer and a pergola complete with Wisteria. You don't feel you are in the city yet only a short drive to downtown. A great place for walking.
