We invite you to come and enjoy a relaxing holiday in Nizas a tiny, charming and ancient village with a tiny population of 500 to match. The three-bedroom home is a beautifully restored, two-hundred-year-old “maison de village”.
Please note: The photos are 4 years old from when we moved in and the house is now fully furnished (with upgraded beds etc. and an extra 25 square meters of living space that includes a home cinema).
Through a cool, bamboo-lined courtyard, you will find the entrance of the house, which starts with a modern, fully-equipped kitchen and inviting open dining space, and leads onto a smaller courtyard with a summer kitchen (gaz barbecue plancha and regular coal bbq).
The adjacent room (renovated in 2016) hosts a home cinema (55" 4K screen with 5.1 surround sound and hundreds of movies) and reading table. This is the coolest room in the house in the heat of summer with a great couch to nap on when watching the Tour de France (if you can watch a whole stage without falling asleep you'll win a free wine bottle ;)).
Featuring stunning original stone and wooden beam work the first floor boasts a beautiful master bedroom with a king size bed and a spacious, relaxing lounge-room. Equipped with comfortable couches and a large TV, the lounge-room space opens out onto a sunny terrace which can also be accessed from the front courtyard via an external staircase.
Two charming bedrooms, a study area and a modern bathroom (toilets on each of the 3 levels) occupy the second floor. There is a queen size bed in the second bedroom and a very comfortable daybed which can be converted into a double bed in the third.
Featuring a total of 3 bedrooms the house could in theory accommodate up to 6 people but we suggest a maximum of 4 guests for maximum comfort.
Whether it be inside or out on the terrace, there is plenty of space for you to relax and be at home. All modern conveniences such as washing machine, dishwasher and microwave are available for use. Fresh towels and linen are provided and there is high-speed wireless internet throughout the house.
Interaction with guests
As much as possible we try to welcome you to the house in person which gives us a chance to answer the questions you may have about the region. We are also available on phone / email during your stay to answer any questions.
Other things to note
Please note that mobile coverage in the village is a little light. Phones from the operator “Free” will have a little reception inside the house (top floor, in the bathroom and office) and “Sosh” or “Orange” mobiles will work from the village main plaza.
Our house is a typical french village house (built in 1818, modernised in 1920, extended in 1990 then completely renovated in 2013 and finally extended in 2016) which means that some of the door frames will be quite low and our top floor has a couple of low hanging wooden beams. If your are particularly tall (180cm+) please be aware that you will have to watch your head while walking on the top floor :)
Also the house is not well suited for toddlers. With 3 staircases and a terrace letting the little ones crawl around could be stressful for the parents.
In case our listing isn't available for your dates (or you simply wish to try something different :)) we can recommend the following listings in the region:
