Interaction with Guests
The cottage is located behind our home, so we are usually here to greet our guests and get them settled in. My husband, Alex, grew up right here in Sonoma and is so knowledgeable about the area. We love to provide guests with suggestions on our favorite wineries, shops, places to eat and things to do from a locals perspective!
The neighborhood is laid back and family oriented, and just a few minute walk to Maxwell Park. It is also conveniently located close to 3 grocery stores, restaurants (including a great Mexican spot with our favorite burritos and salsa verde) and a coffee shop, and is only 2 miles away from the downtown Sonoma Plaza. We are also located just a mile or so from the Fairmont Sonoma Mission Inn, which has a fantastic spa that features thermal mineral pools unique to Sonoma (they do welcome day guests).
We do offer dedicated parking at the cottage. Having a car is the easiest way to get around but if you want to enjoy the MANY wineries in Sonoma without worry, there are a number of companies that offer car service (we would be happy to provide recommendations!)
We love our little cottage and ask that you please treat it well! We don't allow smoking inside the cottage, please. Also, as much as we love them, there are no pets allowed. Our home does share the space with the cottage, so we ask that guests keep music and voices to a reasonable level, especially when enjoying the outdoor areas.
When you leave, please tidy up. I don't expect the house to be sparkling (you are on vacation) but please try to leave the cottage as close to how you found it as possible. Dirty linens (sheets and towels) can be left on the floor. Please wash your dishes and put them away. Thanks!!
Heather and her husband were very welcoming and the cottage was jut what we were looking for.
This listing was spot-on and a wonderful way to begin our honeymoon. The place is as gorgeous as the pictures, the location was excellent, the host welcoming, and the bicycles an added bonus! We had a wonderful time in Sonoma and the surrounding areas, and it was truly wonderful to have a great, homey space to have downtime between outdoor excursions and vineyard hopping. If ever in this area again, we will be back!
We stayed her almost a year go exactly. It was a great time then and was just as good now. The house is very comfortable and has all the little pieces you need to feel at home. The small touches are what really make this experience above most other AirBnBs. Immaculately clean, uncluttered and cozy without being cramped. The decor is creative and appropriate to the area. So much value for what you pay. I am also immensely jealous of their backyard.
Annabelle's Cottage was spectacular. The hand-made touches, like the light fixtures and towel racks, showed real creativity. We enjoyed our time there and would certainly stay again.
The cottage is adorable. The bikes were definitely a great way to get to town. Sadly we got a flat tire on our way into town but we were able to get it fixed at a repair shop in town and Heather has offered to reimburse us -very nice of her!
Heather was wonderful at communicating with us - even while she was away on vacation in Hawaii and she helped us with a couple of small hiccups... We enjoyed our stay overall and the location was really nice.
There is no denying that Annabelle's cottage is quaint, charming and is beautifully styled. It is well located for exploring Sonoma and all it has to offer.
However, we think this place may be better suited for summer as it was very cold despite the two heaters. Unfortunately, there were also issues with the hot water and particularly the shower which is weak and temperamental.
We didn't appreciate how close to the hosts house the cottage is and coming in and out passing their main living area windows felt intrusive at times. It was also very dark at night to come home through the garden despite leaving the cottage external light on.
I'm sorry you experienced some challenges during your stay. Thank you for letting me know about this issues with the shower, I will certainly look into it. Regarding the heat-very few of our guests have had a problem with getting the cottage warm, even during the winter season. Perhaps the heater in the bedroom wasn't on the right setting? Finally, my husband is working to repair the low voltage lighting that illuminates the path from the front of the house back to the cottage.
In regards to the cottage's proximity to our home... I feel that the cottage is very private and has a feeling of its own space, separate from our home. While it is true that you have to pass by our home to reach the cottage, we aren't bothered by seeing our guests (on the contrary, we enjoy interacting with them!)
May I recommend that if you have a problem during a future stay you let your host know during the stay, rather than after the fact? Things don't always go perfectly despite our best efforts but we pride ourselves on responding quickly to remedy the situation whenever our guests have concerns or problems :)
A quite wonderful cottage & peaceful setting. Heart of Sonoma is within a stones throw. The cottage is as described and very much luxurious, with everything one needs. Heather was a great host, who responded instantly to any questions we had prior to and during our stay!
