About This Listing
Our cottage is a brand new, 400 square foot private getaway full of farmhouse inspired charm! It features one bedroom with a comfy queen size bed with handmade reclaimed wood headboard and a spacious armoire.
The kitchen comes equipped with a vintage 1960 GE refrigerator, 4 burner stove, toaster and microwave. It is stocked with cooking utensils and pots/pans should the need to whip up a meal strike you. We also have a French press, tea pot and blender.
The main room has cable TV and a futon that coverts into a full sized bed. Extra linens and a snuggly duvet are available. We also have a dining table for two and a full supply of glassware and utensils.
The bathroom is a full 3 piece washroom with roomy shower. The shelves are handmade from wine boxes and the hardware from galvanized steel!
Guests have their own dedicated space to relax and enjoy the beauty of wine country. We offer guests a complimentary bottle of wine (with a two night stay or longer) as well as all the supplies to make 'smores! In the outdoor space, guests can relax around their own fire pit or grill up dinner on their own BBQ. We will also be extending the use of 2 bikes for guests to use...the Sonoma plaza is a quick 2 mile pedal away!
Interaction with Guests
The cottage is located behind our home, so we are usually here to greet our guests and get them settled in. My husband, Alex, grew up right here in Sonoma and is so knowledgeable about the area. We love to provide guests with suggestions on our favorite wineries, shops, places to eat and things to do from a locals perspective!
The neighborhood is laid back and family oriented, and just a few minute walk to Maxwell Park. It is also conveniently located close to 3 grocery stores, restaurants (including a great Mexican spot with our favorite burritos and salsa verde) and a coffee shop, and is only 2 miles away from the downtown Sonoma Plaza. We are also located just a mile or so from the Fairmont Sonoma Mission Inn, which has a fantastic spa that features thermal mineral pools unique to Sonoma (they do welcome day guests).
We do offer dedicated parking at the cottage. Having a car is the easiest way to get around but if you want to enjoy the MANY wineries in Sonoma without worry, there are a number of companies that offer car service (we would be happy to provide recommendations!)
We love our little cottage and ask that you please treat it well! We don't allow smoking inside the cottage, please. Also, as much as we love them, there are no pets allowed. Our home does share the space with the cottage, so we ask that guests keep music and voices to a reasonable level, especially when enjoying the outdoor areas.
When you leave, please tidy up. I don't expect the house to be sparkling (you are on vacation) but please try to leave the cottage as close to how you found it as possible. Dirty linens (sheets and towels) can be left on the floor. Please wash your dishes and put them away. Thanks!!
Heather's cottage was absolutely adorable and exactly as described in the listing. There were so many cute touches both inside and outside the cottage it made the experience that much more enjoyable. The fire pit and s'mores basket was a nice touch too!
Eine sehr schön gestaltetet Unterkunft im Garten der Vemieterin. Wir hatten sogar einen eigene kleinen Garten. Sehr empfehlenswert im Napa Valley.
This was a truly wonderful location and experience. We really enjoyed the home and having the opportunity to use it. Hopefully we will be back!
We walked to this really cool coffee shop, Cafe Scooteria and got some amazing pastries at Crisp Bake Shop. Girl and the Fig was wonderful too.
The home is very cozy and great after a long day of wine tasting.
Heather's cottage is fabulous! It is loaded with charm, great design and thoughtful accommodations. We adore this place! The landscaping around the cottage is gorgeous, and we especially liked the cruiser bikes that were available to bike to town square. Heather provided consice and considerate instructions about everything we could possibly need. The location is super and very convenient.
My wife and I stayed at the cottage for two nights while on vacation in April.
*Heather was very friendly, helpful, and responsive to all emails & questions.
*The cottage was clean and very well decorated, just like in the pictures. There were so many little touches that it gave us a some ideas for our home
*The backyard is huge & incredible! The owners obviously invested a lot of time, thought, & effort into making it gorgeous. We enjoyed sitting outside both nights enjoying the CA weather.
*The cottage comes with an iPhone docking station so we enjoyed listening to music during our stay.
*The cottage is spacious with plenty of room for two (or probably more) guests.
*The location was a quick drive to downtown Sonoma and convenient for visiting the wineries in the area.
*Bedroom has a spacious armoire and hangers for hanging plenty of clothes.
*The owners have two dogs (as stated in the listing). To reach the rental you need to walk past and around the owner's home to the back of the yard. The dogs barked/yapped loudly at us each time we approached the house to enter or exit-not very relaxing for a vacation rental.
*The cottage comes with a great outdoor area, however there's no partition (e.g., gate, fence, etc.) between the cottage's section of the yard and the owner's section. We found several areas of dog feces around the renter's outdoor dining table & fire pit that weren't removed during the course of our stay.
*The shower lever is reversed (hot is actually cold and cold is hot). To get warmer water, you get less water pressure and to get more water pressure you get colder water. To get a reasonably warm shower the water pressure is low.
*The mattress is firm and you can feel the springs. It actually reminded us of a college mattress.
In summary, it's a beautiful rental with a few downsides that could be improved.
Annabelle's cottage was a wonderful place for a short trip to Sonoma village and surrounding wineries. Not only is the cottage itself pretty and inviting, it's set in a lovely garden that guests are able to use. Heather and her family were also super welcoming. I would definitely recommend the cottage as a place to stay in the future.
