In the main square of Cetona you can find all kind of public service as the tourist office, the Post Office, the Internet point, a minimarket, a bakery, a butcher, a tobacconist, a kiosk, a wine shop, two fruit and vegetable shops and two banks. The two café terraces are the meeting place for all the villagers, you can savour there a delicious ice cream or have an evening aperitif. In Cetona there are two very good restaurants offering the typical Tuscan cuisine and a great choice of local wines. Per your request we would be happy to give you further itinerary and suggestions of the “ten must to do things “ in the area.
THINGS TO DO:
The area offers many different activities:
With beautiful nature walks you can take a break and enjoy the beauty of this unique part of Tuscany and its harmonious natural sites. The area offers good indoor and outdoor SPAS where you can relax and revitalize yourself.
Lots of great food and wine experiences and culinary adventures... We have many suggestions for you.
On Saturday the town square has beautiful cheerful town outdoor market where you can purchaise fresh fruit, vegetable, cheese and pasta.
To completely enjoy the beauty of the area, we highly recommend to rent a car (in case you were not coming with your own one). You can easily reach the towns of Montepulciano, Pienza, Montalcino, Siena, Firenze, Assisi, Perugia and Orvieto by car.
If you come by train the nearest railway station is Chiusi-Scalo. Then you can reach Cetona by bus or taxi.
We prefer that our guests do not smoke inside the house.
Smokers will be at their ease on the all-beautiful and confortable 'vicolo'.
On the day of departure the house has to be left in the same clean and tidy condition that the guest has found it on arrival, otherwise a charge of 50 euro will be applied.
We had the best possible experience at the house and in Cetona. The house was absolutely lovely and very comfortable for our 3+ weeks there. Plenty of space to spread out, a nice kitchen, beautiful views from upstairs. Francesco was so welcoming; he did more for us than I would have asked of a longtime friend. He gave us invaluable tips on restaurants and festivals, gave us rides, even let us borrow his car. And Cetona is so lovely, we had a fabulous time there dining at Osteria Merlo, having an aperitif in the piazza, and buying food at the well-equipped stores. It was also a great spot for exploring Montepulciano, Montalcino, and others. We highly, highly recommend this experience! Thank you so much, Francesco and Alessandra!
This was a marvelous place and a highlight of our trip. The home is beautiful and wonderfully renovated. The views of the countryside are spectacular. This is a great place to stay for animal lovers because the owner loves cats and dogs, and there are always a few around. Francesco was incredibly helpful and friendly in every way. He offered many tips for enjoying our stay in the area and was happy to make arrangements for us. He was incredibly accommodating and we loved getting to know him. This is a great place to stay in our favorite little town in Tuscany.
I cannot say enough how much we enjoyed our stay at the accurately described "charming village home with view". Massive amounts of room for the two of us and a welcoming host who went out of his way to suggest things to do in Cetona and the surrounding countryside.
Francesco is far from fluent in English and we have little Italian but we found that, where necessary, we could also resort to our slightly better French. Our impression is that his partner, Alessandra, does well with English but unfortunately she was called away during our visit.
In any event we had a terrific time and can heartily recommend a stay there.
This was a holiday of a lifetime for us. It was pure magic to walk into the home in Cetona that we found on Airbnb. The hosts were wonderful and it is our only regret that we couldn't stay longer. The setting on top of a hill in the middle of the Tuscany countryside was a dream come true.
Cetona is the most idyllic place. It is just gorgeous - everything we hoped Tuscany would be and more! The house is amazing - so homely, decorated in a lovely rustic style - genuinely Tuscan. We loved the wood beam high ceilings, stone floors, separate kitchen and dining tables and stone basins, This is a perfect place for a couple on a romantic break, a family, or even a group of friends. The view is outstanding. Alessandra and Francessco are such hospitable hosts and have great recommendations for restaurants and vineyards as well as places to see in Tuscany. As a general tip, I definitely think you get the most out of Tuscany if you have a car. The restaurants in Cetona are gastronomic heaven - quite expensive, but your taste buds will thank you!
WOW! Everything about this stay was more than we could imaging. Alessandra and Francesco were so welcoming - they made us feel like family! Loved the place so much we booked again for September which we are really excited about. The pictures on the website only tell part of the story. You will discover gem after gem of great things. Thank you!
