Staying at Alessandra’s Charming ancient house was an absolute treat for us. If you have ever imagined what it might be like to stay in one of the quaint homes in an ancient hill town then this is the place for you. The home has been maintained in a manner so that the original charm and character of the place has not been lost. We found the kitchen to be functional and useful to our needs; it has a fridge, gas hob and oven. The guest toilet with a shower down stairs and the upstairs bathroom has a tub. There are two sitting areas one upstairs and one downstairs, both have fire places. The main bedroom is comfortable and has sufficient hanging space in the cupboard. We stayed in the home as a couple, if there are more guests there is a second bedroom. The view garden is about 2mins walk from the house in a small private and rustic olive grove, we spent a beautiful evening there enjoying the sunset and eating an assortment of Tuscan Treats: Cheeses, Meats, Breads and of course we also enjoyed some amazing wine from the region. We can recommend the wines from Cantina La Frasca a winery based in Cetona. Arriving in Cetona (pronounced Ché-Toe-Na) we received a Harty welcome from Francesco who takes care of the property when Alessandra is not there. He lives close-by and insisted that we call him if there were any problems, we had none. On arrival we were shown a safe place to park our car and Francesco helped ferry our luggage close to the house. Please note that you will not be able to drive your car to the door of the house, so packing portable luggage will make your life easier (probably a good tip for any of your travels through Europe). There is ample free parking around the village, we tended to use the small parking lot to the south of the town for our day to day use, but be warned the walk from this parking lot to the house although shorter is a whole lot steeper and may prove challenging to some people. There are some wonderful restaurants in the town so you don’t need to travel far to eat extremely well. The town has an emphasis on using and promoting their local produce and you will not be disappointed, from the wine to the cheese to the wonderful food. Our favorite was Restorante da Nilo that also has a bar and gellatoria. On Saturday’s there is a small but well stocked market that comes to town and sets up in the Town Square (Piazza Giuseppe Garibaldi). The Piazza is also lined with shops ranging from a Greengrocer to a butcher, wine shop, banks, bakery and many others (Please note that most of these shops are closed in the afternoons and reopen in the evening). We look forward to returning to visit Alessandra’s Charming Home in Cetona soon!

We stayed at Alessandra's place for a week. We never met or heard from Alessandra, but Francesco warmly welcomed us and helped us with our luggage, gave us interesting advice on local restaurants and places to visit in the area. The house is in Cetona, a small and fascinating village in an area of great beauty, offering archaeological, historical and nature treasures. It is the ideal place for those willing to escape from the madness of modern cities! The flat is a traditional, old property located in the village and beautifully restored and furnished with antiques and history books. The views on the monte Cetona and on the village are just stunning The flat is very comfortable and has all the amenities necessary for a pleasant stay, from a short to a longer one. The rooms are comfortable, powerful and hot showers. The house is incredibly and pleasantly cool even in the hot Tuscan summers. The garden advertised turned out to be a bit of a let down as it is just a patch of land with few dried plants, very difficult to reach. We had a lovely time and would return. It's excellent value.

Stunning 2 floor house in the heart of the medieval town of Cetona. Walk to the piazza for a cafe in the morning and dont forget to ask the owner for tips, ranging from which lago to chill at or in which restaurants to dine. The owner has an encyclopedic knowledge of the region and what to do in it so make good use of it! All in all a truly enchanting experience. Alessandra, Francesco, grazie mille!

Beautiful retreat in Cetona. The house is wonderful and a perfect base for exploring Tuscany and Umbria. Francesco was a fantastic host and went out of his way to ensure our stay was comfortable. Cafe Sport and the attached restaurant Da Nilo in town was wonderful spot for an evening drink and great meal. Great deli and little shops in the piazza for cooking at home. Recommend a visit to Suzie's Yard for a delicious organic (and vegetarian) meal and chat with Susie who has spent 20 years building up her organic farm, olive oil production and small winery. Be sure to book ahead as it is very much like having lunch at a friends house so you can't just turn up! We had just a heavenly week here and would highly recommend!

This accommodation was excellent, far exceeding our expectations. Francesco, the owner, lives adjacent to the house and is very helpful in ensuring that all needs are met. The house is located in a charming, quiet section of old Cetona. It is spacious and very well-equipped, with sweeping views of Monte Cetona and the surrounding countryside from the upstairs sitting room. Despite its quiet location, it is only a short walk to the busy Piazza Garibaldi with its array of restaurants and shops. After one week, we wished we had booked a longer stay. Highly recommended!

We had a great time at Alessandro &Francescos place. The apartment is centrally located to visit small towns in the area. Apartment was well equipped and we weren't in need of anything. Communication was very good. Can definitely recommend!
