Lovely 1-BR cottage in choice neighborhood in Santa Cruz California. 5 minute walk to beach. Located in tranquil Westside Santa Cruz between the Lighthouse and Natural Bridges Beach. Very quiet and private. Patios in front and back.
Fenced backyard has beautiful succulent plants plus a lemon and maple tree.
Public transit (bus) on nearby street.
Recently remodeled bedroom, bathroom, and kitchen. Queen bed in bedroom and sofa bed in living room that opens to double bed. The bed in the bedroom is new, and has a foam "topper" over the mattress---very comfortable!! The living room walls are constructed of beautiful old redwood. A beautiful bamboo floor has just been installed in the living room.
The bathroom has an extra large tiled shower with a skylight, as well as a new vanity, tiled floor, and linen closet. The kitchen has four windows that open to the backyard and patio.
Walking distance to restaurants and lively Santa Cruz Boardwalk. 30 minute drive to world famous Carmel and 17 mile drive along gorgeous California coast.
Full kitchen with gas stove, refrigerator, coffeemaker, microwave. Note that condiments are left on the inside of the refrigerator door since the owner stays there occasionally. Help yourself to any of these. Outdoor grill. Linens, dishes, and pots and pans provided. TV with Dish receiver and DVD. WiFi available.
NOTE: INCLUDED in the per night fee that is listed, there is a 11% Hotel Tax required by the City of Santa Cruz of all accommodations rented on a transient basis. For example, a $120 per night fee includes $106.80 for rent plus $13.20 in Hotel Tax. We will maintain a receipt of the tax that you pay to the City.
The cottage is not attached to a house: guests have a totally private place. Guests have access to patios in front and back of the cottage. Beautiful succulent plants, a maple tree, a tulip tree, and a lemon tree are in back. There is a washer and dryer on the back porch of the 2-story house next to the cottage.
Interaction with guests
I don't live full time in Santa Cruz (although I escape to the cottage whenever I can) Much as I would like to be there to greet you, I rely on communicating by phone and email. I am easily reachable by cell or
home phone, and welcome any questions you may have.
I have a dear friend (and contractor) who is very familiar with the property and is available to help with any unexpected issues (he lives very close by)
Several weeks before guests arrive I send out a 2 page "info" sheet with details about keys, parking, phone #s (including that of my nearby friend) location of stuff in the cottage, and some notes on a few places that I think you would enjoy.
Other things to note
I always trumpet the peacefulness of the neighborhood.
Previous guests have been thrilled with the location so close to the beach. They also love the neighborhood and the fact that the cottage is set well back from the street---very private.
Quiet neighborhood; no loud music after 10pm. Follow procedures in "information for guests" (which is emailed to you after you confirm your reservation) and is left on coffee table or magazine rack in living room).
