Interaction with Guests
I typically communicate through email and phone.
We love the neighborhood, which is in the choice Westside area of Santa Cruz between the Lighthouse and Natural Bridges beach. Unlike the noisy and congested Boardwalk area, this is very quiet. The cottage is close enough to the ocean that you can often smell the salt air. Very private location, set back from the road. SEE COMMENTS UNDER "EXTRA DETAILS."
Off street parking in front of cottage. There is a bus that stops one street away from Alta Avenue. On foot, walkable to Natural Bridges Beach and the Boardwalk (the latter about a 20 minute walk from cottage along the ocean). By car, a 10 minute ride to downtown.
Wonderful restaurants nearby! See suggestions in pamphlets on magazine
rack to left of kitchen entry.
Other Things to Note
I always trumpet the peacefulness of the neighborhood time so you can decide.
Previous guests have been thrilled with the location so close to the beach. They also love the neighborhood and the fact that the cottage is set well back from the street---very private.
Quiet neighborhood; no loud music after 10pm. Follow procedures in "information for guests" (which is emailed to you after you confirm your reservation) and is left on coffee table or magazine rack in living room).
If you have a car, park it in the straight driveway in front of the cottage..
Not a party house!
No pets; non smokers only
Cute little spot with character! This was a great place to stay with a toddler; after putting up a few things, I felt comfortable letting him play throughout the cottage. Sufficiently clean. Appreciated the good supply of towels and kitchen gear. An easy walk to West Cliff Drive.
True to its title, this cottage is super charming and surprisingly spacious. My mom and I had a lovely time exploring the area on foot, including the scenic Westcliff pedestrian trail, Natural bridges State Park and the Santa Cruz Warf. The neighborhood was peaceful and quiet yet very accessible. The kitchen was well stocked with cooking utensils and we enjoyed several meals on the sun-soaked back patio . I would definitely return here! Thanks Gail for a comfortable stay :)
The cozy cottage was accurately described and had all the amenities we needed. I loved the neighborhood dirt trail access 2 blocks to the cliff walk where I jogged every morning. The proximity to great coffee, restaurants, farmers market and natural bridges was excellent. We loved drinking coffee every morning while watching the surfers at the lighthouse point.
From the moment we got there I fell in love with the little cottage. It was really lovely and very accurately described in the ad. It was very close to the ocean and well placed to go to the store if needed. It was very comfortable and quiet. I would rebook in a heartbeat.
Nice little cottage very close to the beach. Neighborhood is safe and walking distance to the Safeway with Starbucks, Ferrell's Donuts, and Mission St BBQ. The queen bed is very comfortable. The living room couch is best for a young child only as it is foam rather than a pullout sofabed. Well landscaped and quiet back garden.
Hi Lynn: It was a pleasure having you as a guest. Thank you for taking good care of the cottage. The living room "couch" is actually a pullout sofabed. In the information I sent I referred to the directions for converting the couch to the sofabed. Sorry that you did not know about this. warm wishes, Gail
A storybook cottage! Beautiful pine paneled living room. A bright and sunny kitchen, and tranquil bedroom. It was a pleasure to stay here! Gail was a great host. There is a lovely park very close to the house that takes you right to the cliff and the ocean. What a pleasure!
Charming is a great word for this little cottage. Super close to the ocean! Loved the house and the yard. Nice set up for cooking meals in and a barbecue in the back to grill some steaks. Host provided some essentials in the kitchen, like salt, pepper and a few spices. Arrived after dark and had some trouble finding the cottage as we didn't know that it was at the back of a long driveway. The number for the cottage is on the mailbox. Would love to return!
