Entire Williamsburg Apt - Bedford L

Apartment - Entire home/apt · Driggs Ave, Brooklyn, NY 11211, United States

I love my apartment and I love being able to offer to visitors. I know traveling is fun but also exhausting and I hope my house makes your trip a little easier and a lot more personal feeling than some boxy hotel room.

I love my apartment and I love being able to offer to visitors. I know traveling is fun but also exhausting and I hope my house makes your trip a little easier and a lot more personal feeling than some boxy hotel room.

The Space

My entire apartment is available off and on throughout the year. It is so bright and sunny. Two bedrooms, although only one has a bed in it. Its a queen. The living room and kitchen are huge. I can also provide an air mattress. Ideal for a couple but roommates or solo works too. High ceilings. Wood floors. Loads of charming details. Second floor of a three unit building in Williamsburg. Ten minute walk to the L train Bedford stop which is ONE stop from Manhattan. Williamsburg is just overflowing with great shops and restaurants, all within walking distance. It seems like there's another restaurant opening up by the day. It's very safe and you never feel isolated or like you're the only person walking down the street at night. I have two bikes that you can use. A Citibike kiosk has just been put in down the street. There's a new movie theater next door. There's an air conditioner in the bedroom and fans throughout the rest of the apartment. Internet included. Pets okay, as long as you don't have a dog that chews furniture and shoes up. If you do, write to me and we'll see if we can work something out. Also I have AppleTV. I know there's tons to see in New York but if you feel like curling up to some Netflix or Hulu when you get home, it's there for you.

Guest Access

You'll have access to the whole apartment. Bedroom, living room, kitchen, bathroom. There's a second tiny room off the living room that isn't exactly off limits but I generally use it for storage so it might not be as tidy as the rest of the place. If there's anything left in my fridge, you can help yourself to it. I'll leave coffee for you and a pack of toiletries - shampoo, conditioner, soap, toothpaste. If there's anything like that you want me to specifically leave for you that I didn't just list, let me know and I'll see if I can get it. I'll leave fresh bedding and fresh towels. You'll have access to my wifi and my AppleTV. And I have one bike that you can use too. If you're traveling in a pair, there's Citibike kiosks all over the neighborhood and the day rate for tourist passes is I think about seven dollars. I also have a portable washing machine that you can use for laundry although it's sometimes more of a pain than it's worth. I'll leave a thing of Mrs. Meyers detergent that you can also use in the bathroom sink for quick washes.

Interaction with Guests

If I'm still in the city, I'll probably be there to greet you and show you around, not that it isn't self-explanatory. If I'm out of town, I'll leave the key in a combination lock outside my building with instructions waiting inside on wifi password and how often to water the plants, stuff like that.

The Neighborhood

Williamsburg has been Williamsburg for a long time but it's just exploding right now! So many new shops and restaurants opening. There seems to (email hidden) to eat every week. Across the street from my apartment is a movie theater. On that same block there's a clothing store filled with new designers. Next to that is a shop filled with vintage clothing. If you're hungry, there's a Japanese restaurant, a Korean restaurant (email hidden). All great spots and all on just that ONE block. If you keep walking, there's so much more and then at the end of that block is a little park overlooking the river. It's just a great neighborhood. Filled with hipsters for sure but so much more too.

Getting around

I've never lived in a more convenient neighborhood. My house is about a five minute walk to the L train, Bedford stop. That's just one stop from Manhattan. Ten minutes away from my house is the G train which takes you to other parts of Brooklyn. And then also about minutes away, starting again from my house, is the J/M trainswhich takes you straight to Manhattan as well as to Queens. And my house is also a couple minutes away from Williamsburg bridge which you can just walk across to the city. Or ride a bike. There are Citibike kiosks all over Williamsburg. There's also the water taxi on the river if you feel like going that route. Also only about ten minutes a walk from my house. The water taxi a really cool way of seeing the city. It stops in Dumbo and the Lower Manhattan/Wall St./Ground Zero area.

Overall Guest Satisfaction

Check In
  • Stayed a week at Starlee's. Great apartment, very convenient, close to the L train and the shops you'd need in this situation.
Very bright, colorful, really makes you feel welcome. We had largely enough space for two people.

We didn't meet Starlee in person, but the check-in and check-out were nevertheless quite easy, and she still was very helpful about the place.

    Highly recommended.

  • Very convenient location to explore NYC from. Close to the subway taking you right into Manhattan, local conveniences moments away. And all the bars and restaurants of Williamsburg just a few minutes away. Starlee was away so we never met her, but she made sure that all the arrangements for our arrival was in place. We had the whole apartment to ourselves, and had a great stay.

  • A really great and big apartment in a really nice neighborhood. Starlee (email hidden) and we had a great first experience with airbnb.
We can recommend this place to those who wants to live in the center of Williamsburg.

  • Starlee a un bel appartement, très mignon et très bien situé, dans le quartier de Williamsburg, au métro Bedford avenue. (situé à 10min de Manhattan).

  • Great apartment in a great location. So close to the L train and a bunch of cool stuff around. The place was clean and was the perfect spot to arrive at. I greatly appreciated the cleaning that Starlee did due to my girlfriend and mines allergies. The place was spotless.

  • Starlee's apartment is the perfect place to stay for anyone going to Williamsburg. She has a great book collection and a comfy bed. This apartment is charming and perfectly situated.

  • Great place and great host - very comfortable and clean without being sterile. Some towels were damp when we got there, but clean - not a big deal. Good light, amazing location, and still not noisy in the bedroom. What more could you want?

  • Great spot, amazing food and shopping within 5 minute walk. Easy pick up of keys. Had a couple of issues with the WiFi but nothing major, if all else fails you can use the coffee shop wifi which which reaches the apartment. Fairly easy to get to Manhattan! All in all my girlfriend and I enjoyed our stay.

  • From the very beginning it was easy to reach Starlee and she made it very easy for me to get the keys. I was so happy for the strong wi-fi and Starlee left me some room to hang things in the closet. She checked on me upon my arrival and wanted me to have a great stay. I knew by reading the reviews to expect dirty floors and yes, they were really dusty but since I was there for a month I swept them. She washes some things at home so since the towels are air-dried they come out stiff. I used them, knowing they are clean but then eventually just visited the Laundromat. The building is really old, and the bedroom at this time of year (Feb) was really drafty, but Starlee provides a nice, safe Vornado space heater to use and it keeps the room warm. The rest of the apt is very comfortable, only the bedroom was cold on the nights it was below freezing. I would definitely stay at Starlee’s again because it is just so convenient to get to Manhattan, I really found some great restaurants in Williamsburg, and I got so addicted to all the great coffee within walking distance.

  • The flat was really nice and the neighborhood is really cool but a few things bowerred us during or before our stay and as we paid 39€ for cleaning we thought it was important to say these things :

    - Before coming Starlee was difficult to reach and took 2 weeks to respond to our emails.
    - the floor was really unclean with dog hair, we hoovered the place ourself, the towels she gave us were completely wet, the bathroom carpet was really dirty. There was no room for our clothes or stuff so we had to put them on the dirty floor.
    - as told, we went to a bar down the street to get the keys when we arrived. Back at the apartment the keys would'nt open the door so we went back to the bar again (still with our luggages) and we had to call her to discover that she was in the apartment and there was no interphone for us to find out.

Radio Producer/Writer
I'm a writer. I do a lot of stories for the public radio show "This American Life." I'm working on a book which is why I am away from my place. I'm not crazy or passive aggressive. I am also not all that tall. I love my apartment and would love to have non crazy people staying in it who will also love it.
