Older style house. Lovely private room with tranquil views, shared kitchen. 4 bedroom house, 3 bath. House situated in quiet street very close to lake, walking tracks, shops, buses & water taxi. Very comfortable relaxed house with great facilities.
The space is perfect for singles or a couple. There is a mattress available to pull out for two people not wishing to share a bed. The house has a lovely garden and outdoor area for relaxing and reading. The proximity to shopping, the airport, walking tracks etc makes this an ideal place to be in a relaxed environment but still close to the action.
You will have access to a large lounge area for television or DVD watching or just a quiet read. Help yourself to the bookshelf. The kitchen is well equipped and you are free to use any condiments in the pantry. The house has a heat pump and a wood burner fire for winter warmth.
Interaction with Guests
As my work is very busy and can take me out of town at times I may not be available to meet and greet you. Mrs Meow our cat is always glad to see you in! Please message me the day before your arrival with an estimation of arrival time. I will give you instructions of house access. When I am home we often enjoy sharing a meal and chatting. I am always happy to give you local advise and recommendations. I will supply you with my cell number and always available to talk.
The neighbourhood is wonderfully located for walking, biking, and close to Remarkables Park Shopping centre. We live in quiet, private street with great people around us. If you are without transport I am happy to lend you a bicycle to ride to Queenstown or you a very close to a bus stop. We have lots of sun in Frankton and a short walk to the lake front. 15 mins walk to a great little lakeside cafe. 5 mins walk to The Hilton for a glass of wine. Options are many.
Buses are easy from here. Timetable on the fridge. Bus stop 2 mins away. Biking very easy, tracks are flat and a lovely 30 min ride to Queenstown central. Water Taxi from the Hilton to Queenstown central a great way to go to town. Parking on the street always available. You walk from the airport (15 mins), taxi or call me and I may be able to collect you if I am free.
Other Things to Note
The house is an older style house. In the winter it is necessary to have the heating on and the fire lit to keep the house cozy - which it is as long as all the doors and thermal curtains are shut. Heaters and electric blankets are provided for your room.
Guests are welcome to use the kitchen for cooking. It is expected that guests wash and dry their dishes after each meal.
Trudy’s place is located in a nice quiet, safe residential neighborhood within walking distance to the Queenstown airport, the lake, and a local pub with great food! Trudy made the house easily accessible to us by keeping the doors unlocked so we could come and go as we pleased. The room itself was as pictured and described; sunny, spacious, and had a comfortable bed.
We only briefly interacted with Trudy, but didn’t get the chance to have much of a conversation; she seemed nice and gave us some good recommendations for restaurants.
Lovely room and beautiful setting. I didn't receive the warm hospitality I got at every other air b and b I stayed in in New Zealand. Trudy seemed annoyed with my questions and reluctant to offer help. I.was texted at the airport after leaving and told checkout time was 10 am. Nothing on her site or in the house rules stated this. This added to my feeling of not feeling welcome in her home.
The house was as described, it's about a 15 minute drive to the centre of Queenstown. It's about a 10 minute walk to the local supermarket and Trudy provides some cereal for breakfast.
Trudy is pretty strict with timings such as; when you can shower at night, when you can cook depending on when she wants to use the kitchen and a very prompt check out time (we were asked to be out of our room by 9am because there were more guests arriving)
We felt the safety aspects of the house perhaps need listing to ensure guests feel comfortable , despite the safe area.
We use Airbnb because of its personal touch and can only compare this listing to other Airbnb places we have stayed. It seems like some owners rent for the hosting experience and others for the financial reward. We felt as though this was the latter and it wasn't our favourite so far.
Despite the shortcomings it holds a fair value in an expensive area to stay in peak season.
Very nice place to stay. Beautiful house, quiet neighbourhood. The room was spacious, cozy and comfortable. Trudy and her friend were very friendly.
We had a wonderful time at Trudy's lovely home which is PERFECTLY situated if you have a car- it is nestled at the foot of the Remarkabkes mountain range and I went for walks along Lake Wakatipu every morning - in our last evening we walked to the Frankton Arm Tavern for a great meal and the most incredible view
Trudy upgraded us to the ensuite without our even asking. She was very flexible in terms of when we could arrive and leave, which made our stay very convenient. Her homemade muesli was very tasty and a great start to our days in Queenstown.
We were only staying overnight in Trudy's house which is conventiently located in a quiet neighborhood away from the buzzling Queenstown city centre. Though the bedroom was spacious and the bed comfy, the house appeared a little bit chaotic to us. Moreover, our perception of cleanliness differs definitely from Trudy's. We did not see Trudy much due to our short stay, but she seemed nice.

I am a business owner in Queenstown New Zealand - I work in the film industry as a stylist and love working in my shop in Frankton. We have a workroom and a retail front which services a large local customer base. Living & working in Frankton has the wonderful advantage of being in an incredibly beautiful place with so much on offer. I love to travel, to garden, to entertain and to relax with a good book!
