Interaction with Guests
We live & work in the building, so we are available to our guests if they need us, but otherwise, we completely respect our guests privacy, and they are free to come and go as they like with little interaction.
Red Hook is like a tiny village that just happens to be in the city.
We all know each other, and take great pride in our little spot!
Try the Ferry, it's a beautiful ride!
Other Things to Note
We appreciate guests leaving the apartment in much the same manner they find it. Please bring your garbage & recycling to the large cans downstairs when you leave.
Our cleaning fee covers deep cleaning, and laundry etc... but it is not intended to cover basic house maintenance, like dishes, or taking the garbage out.
We greatly appreciate your cooperation in keeping the apartment as nice as possible, for all of our guests.
Absolutely NO Smoking
Absolutely NO going up on roof, This is non negotiable, and we will refuse to refund security to anyone who breaks this rule. It is dangerous, and exposes all of us to too much liability.
Please keep the apartment clean, and noise to a reasonable level, no midnight death metal, unless you're wearing ear phones!
Otherwise, Relax & Enjoy!!
We just completed a lovely 9 day stay. Lisa, the host met us at the charmingly furnished apartment and oriented us to both the place and the neighborhood. We wouldn't change anything about our stay but think it is important for others to have a better picture than we did. The location necessitates the use of taxis or town cars to get to the subway unless you are willing to brave the cold or less desirable neighborhoods. It is a two flight of stairs walk up with negotiation around stored clutter but once you are in the apartment you are very private. Home/Made is the 1st floor food establishment and it is delicious! Sadly it was not open during the week and we found only one other good coffee place - Baked. Several good restaurants within blocks but particularly enjoyed Grindhaus. Also an amazing grocery store within walking distance with organic products. The community seems to be very tight (Christmas lights strung from our window across to opposite apartment to decorate the street for the season) and trying hard to recover from the damage of Sandy. A wonderfully eclectic neighborhood.
My daughter and I had a wonderful time staying in this beautiful apartment in Red Hook. The fold out futon couch gets thumbs up from her, the bed is divine, and we just loved strolling around the neighborhood, being able to cook a little, the water taxi, and the morning light. Our hosts were great, and the home/made cafe downstairs alone is worth the trip.
Lily provides and experience not just a place to stay. The apartment is lovely, airy and beautiful. With a fantastic restaurant downstairs, you can can't go wrong. Staying in Red Hook is a fantastic way to see the real New York and meet great people and your host Lily makes you feel right at home. We can't to come back!
Lily's place is beautiful, and in the middle of a great neighborhood, unlike any other in NYC. I've stayed here twice, and it was wonderful each time. The owners are expert hostesses -- helpful, accessible, knowledgeable, and understanding! I hope to visit again!
Home sweet home où on se sent comme chez soi. Le quartier est vraiment attachant, on y passe d'excellentes soirées. Super lily's house. M&M
It was great. We were very busy, so there wasn't much interaction with the host, but what there was, was exactly what was needed.
Great neighborhood, awesome flat! Only downside is not much public transportation. Subway is a bus ride away. If you don't mind walking, this place is great!
We LOVE clean open spaces, a nice mix of vintage industrial, and modern with touches of warmth and comfort thrown in. Good music, Wine, Beer & Food, and a lovely garden is the key to happiness. (you know, besides world peace...)
