William Burns made a reservation with me and told me he would be attending a Wedding in Bristol, RI and would need a place to stay for 3 nights (July 12-15th). He was never a member of AirBnb, had no photo and requested a reservation for 1 adult. I requested a valid profile photo along with verifying his reservation for 1 or 2 aduts? From the very beginning of the reservation process his story changed several times. I decided to give him the benefit of the doubt and accepted the reservation for 2 even after I advised him to contact Airbnb to change the number of guests from 1 to 2 which he did not do. Upon William's arrival, I greeted him and his girlfriend/wife, LoveLight and apologized for my screen door being torn. I explained to them that my friends rescue dog, Cleo had recently been operated on and had to have her eye removed due to cancer. Cleo is still adjusting to having one eye and accidently walked through the screen door hours prior to their arrival. I explained that it would be replaced during their stay. William accused me of trying to colllect on a damaged Antique Bureau that was written on during their stay with a blue ballpoint pen. They scribbled and gouged my bureau. I contacted AIRBNB after I did my walk through after William & Lovelight left the following morning at 9:30 am. and told the Customer Service Represenative about the damage. I was advised to take photos, get an estimate to have the bureau fixed and forward the documentation to WIlliam in order for him to pay for the damages that occurred during their 1 night stay. He denied it, refused to pay for the damages, tried to accuse a child that possibly stayed in the AIRBNB (Their are no children allowed because it's not a childproof space) and then went on to accuse me of seeking damages to fix my screen door. The owner of the dog paid for the damaged screen door. William stated that he and his girlfriend/wife left the space after using the bathroom and attending their function, arriving late, leaving and staying in a hotel. Unfortunately, this is NOT a TRUE STATEMENT and a blatant lie! William and his girlfriend/wife checked in on July 12th, Thursday at 4pm. I welcomed them, showed them the space, explained how things work, gave the keys to the front door of my house along with an additional key for their private suite. I also introduced them to Max. I was very surprised that Lovelight (girlfriend/wife) backed away from my dog and didn't want to touch him. I asked her if their was a problem and she explained to me she was highly allergic to dogs and had medication with her? This was very suprising to me since my profile photo has a photo of myself and my dog, I also have it listed that I have a dog living in the household. My question to WIlliam would be "Why would you book a reservation at an AIRBNB knowing a dog lives in the house when your girlfriend/wife is highly allergic to dogs? Willam also states that the AIRBNB smelled like a dog. Max & I live in the upper level of the house and the AirBnb is primarily for my guests. At the time of check-in, if your wife didn't like the accomodations, you had ample opportunity to leave and go to a hotel. Instead, you and Lovelight left your bookbags in the bedroom suite, checked-in, left with the keys to the Airbnb, came in at 3am, slept in the bed, ate the snacks and left in the morning. William also states that as a courtesy he sent me a text message in the morning. I was home at the time and if you were courteous, you would have chosen to speak to me face to face instead of leaving abruptly in the morning. William did mention that he enjoyed the Magic Bars that I left for him and his girlfriend/wife. Once I figured out that William had no intention of actually staying in my Airbnb for 3 nights, I contacted Airbnb and informed them of the situation in order to prevent this from happening to any other Airbnb Hosts in the future. William is NOT aware of the AirBnb guidelines and thinks that once a guest makes a reservation for 3 nights and then leaves the following morning, a host cannot rent out the space at that time. I did not cancel, you stayed one night and left without any notice. Therefore, an Airbnb Host is not able to re-book with no ample notice. For all of the above reasons, I cannot recommend William and his girlfriend/wife, Lovelight as guests at any AIRBNB because of their lies, accusations, and damages that occured during their stay at my Airbnb. During my time as a Host with Airbnb, I have never had to report a damage to Airbnb. Most adults take accountability for their actions. This was not the case with this couple. As a host of an Airbnb, I enjoy my experiences of sharing a private part of my home with guests from all over the world. I do my very best to accommodate each and every guest by finding out what special requests they might have to make their stay more enjoyable and more pleasurable. I also make sure to add special touches to make their stay at my Airbnb more of a "home away from home" kind of experience. I make sure to note in my listing of the accommodations, that guests are informed that, although they do have to enter the main entrance of the home, they have a separate, private entrance to their guest area which has a lock on the door. I always provide a separate key that is strictly for their use only as well as providing a key to the entrance to my home. I also make sure to note that I do have a dog. A ten year old Golden Retriever - so that if any of my potential guests who may not be comfortable with dogs or who might be allergic to dogs or if, for any reason that this isn't a situation that they would be comfortable with, then at least I have made sure to let this be known in advance prior to any booking. There are also times in our lives that no matter how much we think ahead and try to plan for every possible situation, life doesn't always go as planned. I care about the guests who stay at my Airbnb and I pride myself on being the best hostess that I can for each and every guest. Sometimes there are people in life who do and say hurtful things that are in no way truthful but this makes for a very difficult and painful situation. This past week-end, I had the misfortune of having a couple in my Airbnb who were not only dishonest and destructive but they have also tried to damage my reputation. I have been named as a super host three times in the past year and I have always received 5 star reviews from my guests until this past week-end. I am asking that my future guests, who are considering my Airbnb as a good place to stay while in the area, to take a moment and read my previous, very positive reviews and then hopefully, will make the decision to stay in my Airbnb based on these past positive experiences. My Golden Retriever, Max and I will continue to enjoy welcoming special guests to our home and will do our very best to make sure that your stay is always a very positive stay.

This was a really great place to stay! The space is super comfortable, and Allyson was super thoughtful and thorough in making sure it had everything I needed. She even reached out to ask what kind of refreshments I'd like! It was truly great.
