Lovely garden apartment tucked away below our home on a lush residential hilltop. It's hard to believe, but you'd hardly know you're in the city while here, yet have easy access via public stairs or drivable streets all of this neighborhood's amenities.

This is a very cute little spot that's just a short (but a bit rigorous, not going to lie!) public stair hike from a lot of fabulous restaurants, cafes, shops, etc. along Sunset. Also, extremely freeway accessible if you've got other places to be in the area. You really can't beat the location. The unit itself had a lot of charm, and a bit more of a "lived in" feel than some L.A. spots, which I appreciated. The little balcony under the avocado tree is a great place to hang out, and we didn't have any noise issues with the people above or below us. Some of the kitchen supplies were empty and the TV is old with a somewhat funky picture, which weren't big deals to us, but things to know. Great bed, nice shower, and a well-thought-out lay out. The only star lost is for the temperature. It's a corrugated metal structure in L.A. with no AC and not much of a set-up for air movement, so at night, it was significantly warmer inside than outside and a bit tough to sleep. I don't think it would be a problem in the cool half of the year, late Oct-April, or if you're someone who runs cold, so just something to be aware of. Overall, we had a good stay!

Response from Artemis:
Thanks for your detailed review. I'm glad you appreciated the charms of our space, yet I'm sorry you were uncomfortable sleeping. August & September can bring our highest temperatures. My recommendation to guests is to close up all blinds & curtains during the heat of the day, then open up all blinds, curtains, windows & doors at night, & position the fans to create a strong airflow. Both the living room and bedroom have large doors with screens to open at night, & the main room has 4 opening windows. I do the same in our space. This is usually sufficient. The TV is old, as we state in our description, along with the fact that there is no AC. The bulk of the apartment is insulating brick, & it's built into the hillside which keeps it cooler. The only corrugated steel is the front wall, but all walls are insulated, drywalled with double glazed windows. It's not a tin shack. In terms of kitchen supplies, we provide basic cookware, but consumables are the responsibility of guests to provide. I leave nonperishables like spices & olive oil for future guests when left behind as a convenience.

My 14 year old son and I stayed here for 4 nights August 2017 and were very happy with it. Its a short walk from a very lively and interesting part of Sunset Blvd. Contrary to the report of a previous reviewer, the sofa bed was very comfortable and there was no noise from above. We would stay again. That says it all.

Thanks for staying with us, and your feedback. My husband & I, as well as some other friends & family, have slept on the sofa bed, too, & also found it comfortable.
