Beautiful views of the Warner Mountains to the east and devils garden to the west make this a truly breathtaking place. "In-law Suite" conveniently located near town on 10 acres for easy access to restaurants and shops but quiet and private. Great for pets. Come for a weekend escape or a quick stop through. Message me for long term stay options, whole house rental, or additional people. I often host travel nurses, detailed federal employees and others for longer periods of time.

The space
"In-law Suite" accessed with private entrance. Enter on the main floor to a mudroom, laundry, bathroom with shower, and storage space. Downstairs includes a queen sized bed, day bed, kitchenette and electric fireplace. All of this area is private and separated from the rest of the house by a door. Shared full kitchen, living room, and outdoor entertaining areas on main floor.

Guest access
Private bedroom and bath and shared access to the kitchen, living room, and outdoor entertaining areas.

Other things to note
Shane and I are thrilled to share our home with you and hope you have a wonderful stay. We wanted to take a minute to share with you some special things about our small ranch.

I started as an Airbnb host while living near California Pines, southwest of Alturas. I bought the small ranch we live in now for the beautiful view of the Warner Mountains and the opportunity to continue being an Airbnb host. The private entrance and downstairs 'In-law suite' was a great place for guests but the shag carpet, green and yellow linoleum, and view blocking trees had to go. We have hosted guests from all over the world and made many friends along the way.

We harvest juniper trees from our property for firewood and partner with Juniper Ridge (a company in the San Francisco Bay area) to harvest frowns for essential oils that are added to soap. The soap in the guest bathroom is scented with juniper essential oils from our property. Our scent is “Desert Cedar” on their website.

We bought a wild horse from the Devil’s Garden wild horse territory recently. Farrah is a 15 year old mare that I fell in love with immediately at the corrals. We are glad that she has joined our ranch. To learn more, check out Devil’s Garden Wild Horses on Facebook or the Modoc National Forest website.

We raise chickens for meat and eggs and sheep and cattle periodically. Bees are brought to our property for the summer where we become bee landlords and are paid in honey. We have a small but mighty garden in the summer that lends many fresh salads and enough vegetables for canned pickles, salsa, sauces, and soup in the winter. We have aspirations for more livestock and a larger garden someday.

If you care for eggs or beef while you stay, let me know.
When available:
1/2 Dozen (6) farm fresh eggs for $2.50
Dozen for $4.50
1 lb of home grown ground beef $4.50

Looking Forward to your Stay!

I am a Farm Advisor in Northern California for UC Cooperative Extension. I enjoy hiking and traveling locally and around the world. I have a beautiful dog and have enjoyed exploring the great outdoors with her. My favorite place I have ever traveled was the south island of New Zealand but last year I traveled to Portugal and Spain to hike the Camino Portuguese to Santiago de Compostela. Amazing 120 mile journey. I enjoy a host who wants to sit out on the deck and have a beer while the sun is setting and a clean and tidy place to lay my head for the evening. A host that knows the natural wonders of the area they are in helps me a lot to decide what to do and where to go. I host people in my house all the time and enjoy hearing their life stories and their aspirations.
