Casa Amapola Family House SINGLE R.

Villa - Private room · Malpais, Puntarenas, Costa Rica

Welcome to our family house, just 1min walk to the beach! We rent the 3 rooms to travellers who want to live the real "pura vida life style" for few days, sharing with them the kitchen, bathroom, laundry room and the big gardens in front and behind the house!

The house has 2 double rooms and one single room. The guests share the big kitchen, the bathroom, the laundry room and the great spaces for relax or stretch after sport.
What makes our location ideal is the fact that you're just in front of the Santa Teresa Beach access, really closed to the best surf spot here! It takes 30 second to reach the beach! And you'll be closed also to the shops, restaurants and night life, but surprisingly always in a peaceful place where you can stay in a hammock absorbing the animal sounds and relax.

My boyfriend is an expert mountain bike guide, if you like sport as we do, we can offer you mountain bike tours, or spearfishing tours too.
I'm an italian qualified masseuse, so you can also enjoy a great MASSAGE during your staying!

Casa Amapola is a Family House: we live here with our dog River, so we share with the travellers our "pura vida life style" and we are always there for the guests!
Meals are not included, but we can cook and have dinners and party with guests like with friends, and share the cost!

  • Monica welcomed me warmly to her place in gorgeous Costa Rica and at the same time gave me the adequate space to behave like it was my own home. I highly recommend staying in this spot as it's close to everything and they've pretty much got the right balance of party and chill out time. And you get to make lovely new friends out there!

  • I loved staying at Casa Amapola!! Monica, Svebo and all their friends in Santa Teresa were such an awesome crew. The house is in a great location and it was my favorite place to have stayed in Costa Rica. I only wish I could have stayed longer!

  • Monica and Svevo are wonderful people/hosts and fantastic at creating a community with their warmth and friendliness and with delicious group dinners. The room was a good value and the hammocks, location and wifi were ideal. I had a great massage with Monica and she even took the time to walk me down to a natural pool that forms among the rocks at low tide to go swimming, an amazing spot I never would have found on my own. I would not mind returning! :)

  • What a beautiful experience this whole stay was, to the point I stayed another two days in the tent out the back ($8 a night) and even then didn't want to leave my new friends!
This place forces you into Tico mode. Don't come here if you value your privacy and personal space above all...the feel I get here is like living with friends in a share house...in turns chilled and party time. Leave your schedules and stress and any other first world expectations and demands at the $70 a night tourist hotels ;)

Monica and Svevo are fantastic, genuine people... Svevo accompanied me on 20-35km runs on his mountain bike to show me routes, just cos he's a great guy and has been there done that in endurance running!

Monica makes a wicked pasta..Italian, what do you expect!

The vibe is relaxed, safe and happy. Sure the fridge can get crowded and the bathroom can become a little "in demand" when there's a full house. But its all good. The beach is amazing, just a couple of minutes and ask Svevo if you can borrow a hammock to take down there...many a post run hour saw me snoozing in a cool breeze amongst the palms listening to the waves...

The running is (email hidden)ach or back roads. Main road is dusty and busy but has a great vibe. I'm 51 and found the energy of the place wonderful...super friendly and quirky.

I would go back here in a heart beat...just the right mix of chill and action. Social and time out solo.
The tent is great. The single room which I had very comfy. The dogs can be noisy in the neighbourhood at times but so be it.

In a nutshell it's like a tiny hostel or guesthouse where you've lived for 6 months and feel totally at home :). Or a share house....

One thing is get thorough details of how to find the house in the FIRST email. Landmarks and which hostel it's near where the bus can drop you off. I wasn't the only one who arrived in town having no idea where the house was :D. l

I spent extra on a shuttle bus from Montezuma as I knew he'd go the extra mile in helping locate it... Phone connection isn't great so it took many calls to finally reach Monica to get the exact location. Just a heads up ;)

I loved this place...but especially my new friends Svevo and Monica!!

About
Hey guys! I moved to Costa Rica in april2013 with my boyfriend Svevo and my dog River. I was looking for a different life style, far from stress and sad faces, and here I found it! I can't live without: travel... mountains (I know, in CostaRica there are not big mountains... but I said I love travel, no?)... friends... sport... and give massages! I really love to know new people who want to share with me their life experiences... with our guests i'd like to have a friendly relationship!
