Winter retreat opportunity:
Located in Kaladar ON (1.5 hours east of Ottawa, 1 hour north west of Kingston)
Hello and welcome to Kaladar!!
We are located just south of HWY 7, about 5 minute from the 4 corners of HWY 41 and HWY 7, and 20 minutes north of Napanee off the 401.
Lennox & Addington County is located in the heart of Eastern Ontario. You can enter L&A via Highway 401 (Napanee, Odessa), Highway 7 (Kaladar) and Highway 41 (Denbigh, Cloyne).
We're within a three-hour drive of major centres in both Canada and the United States. We're only:
- 30 minutes from Belleville
- 30 minutes from Kingston
- 2 hours from Toronto
- 2.5 hours from Ottawa
- 2.5 hours from Syracuse
- 3 hours from Montreal
We are tucked away in the forest in a tiny bungalow on the beautiful Canadian shield. We welcome kids, animals and emergencies!! We are an extremely remote farm with limited technology, we have no internet however, cell phone service is crystal clear.
We are an off grid farm that runs on solar energy, which means that TV is a luxury. We do provide a washer, & dryer, (we mostly use the line outside in good weather) and we have a good hot shower!
You can rent the whole house, just one room or camp out, depending on your needs. The house is otherwise a communal house so you can use it as you would your own however sleeping is rustic camping or our guest room. We have a forest for you to choose from where you can post a hammock, or a tent, unless you rent the entire house.
This is very rustic, and the only WIFI you will get is on your cell phone or if you bring a portable internet stick! Often you will hear the rooster crowing, wood being cut, children playing, and distant buzzing of chainsaw in the woods. (that's my husband cutting wood for the floors)!
On the farm we are currently raising chickens for eggs, and growing potatoes, squash, zucchini, hot peppers, herbs, corn and tomatoes!!
If you would like to stay with us you can enjoy a delicious breakfast of farm fresh eggs (you can even collect them yourself!) and coffee!
We hope to see you!
The guests will have access to everything in the home.
If we are there you will see us, otherwise you are on your own.
There is ageneral store with almost everything from hunting gear to laundry soap, with a gas station at the corner of highway 7 and 41. Further up the road is a little town called Northbrook and they have a Foodland grocery store, Bank of Montreal, Beer store and LCBO (liquor store).
This is a remote location and you need a vehicle!
When we are not there you will need to feed the chickens and let them out. The feed is in the coop in large tins or in the basement in feed bags. The hens eat 2 jugs in hte morning and 2 in the eveing. THe feed is scattered on the yard out side. At dark the birds need to be put away.
Watering them is crucial in summer but in winter they are fine to eat the snow.
THe eggs need to be collected twice a day, in the morning and after lunch. THere is a little spot in the basement where the eggs are kept.

Zoe was really friendly and nice! It's a good place for stay!
The reservation was canceled 28 days before arrival. This is an automated posting.
Very nice room in a very nice district. Unfortunately, poor communication between hosts and guests
Enjoyed staying with Zoe and her family. Zoe was great, and helpful orienting us to the neighborhood. Bed was comfortable. Great location on the Plateau.
Staying at Zoe's was a great experience for my partner and I. We really had the feeling that Zoe gave us one up many things a person relocating to Montreal or just visiting could possibly want. From neighborhood happenings and local free concerts, to choosing the best/cost efficient internet company for our future move, Zoe was our savior!!!
The environment was excellently located (close to 2 of the cities top freshly baked bagel shops), cafes, plateau shopping, etc. Of course at the residence the internet, basic breakfast and hospitality were a plus!
Thanks Zoe, all the best!
Zoe was an excellent host. The room is nice and comfortable and Mile End a cool place to be. Zoe was very helpful, making it possible for us to go on a camping trip. BTW, the coffee is really good!
Great place, very welcoming environment! Zoe was very helpful and made sure we had a pleasant stay. Thank you for the hospitality Zoe!
Zoe saved the day!
I needed a place to stay with very short notice and she replied quickly, easily and helpfully. Zoe's apartment is super comfortable with a great vibe. Perfectly convenient for the bus lines and local beer, food, and shopping! Parking was easy and our host was helpful, friendly, and easy going. Finding her ad was a blessing! Thanks again, Zoe!
