About this listing
Private family oriented, cozy home and sittin on the edge of the Uluwatu Valley. Relaxing in the pool and look out to the green valley of Uluwatu.
Walking distance to the world famous Uluwatu Beach. Lots of cute Restaurants in the area.
We loved our stay at mawars house we felt right at home like we were in pupukea of north shore. Not only did we feel at home her family knew so much of our friends from back home it's crazy to think how small this world is. She had a driver arranged for us & took us to parties + suggested great spots to go to. There is a cool spot near by we went to eat breakfast at every morning. We can't wait to come back & for Mawar to come visit us in hawaii!
Mawar welcomed us into Uluwatu Valley House with her lovely daughter Zoey & Wayan the housekeeper. The pool is lovely with beautiful views, we shared the pool with a guest staying next door in the studio apartment. We hardly saw each other, no problem sharing the pool. We travelled with our 2 young kids age 1 & 4 years old, the house was spacious for all of us & great for the kids to have their own rooms. Zoey & her sister Asia came around for a playdate & Wayan watched the kids so we could go to the spa :) Uluwatu is a beautiful, secluded area - we loved Dreamland & Padang beaches. Padang was great for swimming with the kids, Dreamland is beautiful & we loved watching the big waves. Mawar helped us arrange taxis to the beaches, the bridge was closed so it was too far for us to walk. Great restaurants & spas in Padang, easy to walk up from the beach. Finn's is great for a day out, it's expensive but worth it. The beach is gorgeous, the food was average & the cocktails were good ;)) Stunning views from the funicular on your way down to the beach. We also did a day trip to Jimbaran (which was closer than we thought), another beautiful beach - excellent for swimming with kids, gentle waves & long stretch of soft sand beach. Mawar helped us with local restaurants & Wayan even drove to collect one of our dinner orders. Wayan is an excellent cook! Probably our best dinner in Indo :) We really enjoyed the outdoor bathroom & spotted Frogs & Geckos :)) Mawar offered to take us to the Waterbom park (unfortunately Luke was sick so we had to cancel) & also offered to take me shopping in Denpasar, a great host & very welcoming.
The host canceled this reservation 5 days before arrival. This is an automated posting.
This place was definitely a Bali highlight. Perfect location, very safe and topped with a wonderful host! Mawar was so incredibly helpful, full of great tips and contacts for everything we needed- scooters, surf spots, best local food and bars! Great to be welcomed into such a beautiful culture with open arms. I highly recommend Uluwatu Valley house to any singles, couples, families with kids or big groups wanting to experience Bali at its best!
Mawar made us very welcome, she took my daughter surfing a couple of times and her daughter was adorable. Anwar cooked for us and gave us daily massages.
We absolutely loved the place. It's big and has all the amenities you need. I've listed all the great features below. I should point out however, if you're expecting the Ritz Carlton - this might not be the place for you. It's a lovely country villa, not a 5 star hotel.
-Location. Fantastic location 5 minutes walk from Uluwatu. 3 minute drive to Yoga at Uluwatu Cliff Villas. Loads of nice warungs to eat at and some good nightlife at Single Fin and Mamo.
-Size. 3 decent sized double rooms, large open space living area, big bathroom and nice backyard. All rooms have comfy double beds and there are enough sofas in the living room and outside to accommodate any extras.
-Pool. Great for jumping into after a surf. Lovely view of the valley behind the house. There's also a cool cabana next to the pool which is great for storing boards and relaxing poolside. Lots of patio space for sunbathing.
-Others. A nice big TV for films with satellite. Decent wifi connection (0.8 MBPS which is good for the area). Hot water throughout the house. Lovely big bathroom with plate shower and huge bathtub. Good kicthen with gas cookers, oven and fridge. Comfy sofas and a healthy sized dining table for entertaining.
-Mawar. A fantastic host (she lives just down the road and was always available to help us out by phone or in person). She knows the area extremely well and helped us sort out everything we needed for our stay - scooters, airport transfers, trips to Sumbawa, visa extensions, restaurant recommendations, flights, cheap surfboards, you name it - she can help!
-Wayan the housekeeper. She was an absolute star! Cleans all the rooms and house daily. Does all your washing and keeps the place clean. She also cooked for us a few nights and they were probably some of the best meals we had in Indo. Her nasi campur, beef randang, fried sardines and tempe were outstanding. She also does massages. Every house needs a Wayan!
Some minor annoyances were - the water in the whole area is not mains connected, it is brought in by truck and stored in a water tank so can run out before the truck returns. Wayan usually gets the tank refilled
before you notice though. The internet was good enough for skype and working remotely until more than a few devices were connected (especially Macs!). Then it got very slow. The 3G signal is excellent though so I'd recommend getting a Simpati sim as backup. The house is lovely, but was decorated a few years ago which means it does not have a luxury modern finish. It is more than comfortable though.
In summary I'd highly recommend booking the villa. For the price it really is great value. Especially considering you'd pay more per night for just a room in the area, not a whole villa. I think we will back there soon. Great trip!
