Sun-Drenched Brooklyn Floorthrough

Apartment - Entire home/apt · Dean Street, Brooklyn, NY 11201, United States

Even the broker couldn't decide if this was a two-, three-, or four-bedroom apartment. Bed sleeps two, the couch one, and a queen-size air mattress is available. One block from the subway, looks out onto the famous Smith Street.

The Space

It's important to love the space in which you live. Although it's a rental, we believe in the small improvements that make a huge difference. Some splashes of color, accents of wallpaper (it's removable!), crisp white high-gloss molding, and lots of plants taking advantage of the great light.

The light is one of my favorite parts of the space: you'll be awoken in the morning to the sun streaming in the eastern bedroom windows (unless you draw the curtains, of course), and the sun will follow you westward through the apartment as the day draws on, ending with lovely late-afternoon sunlight in the living room and office.

Guest Access

• Full-size dishwasher
• Gas stove
• iOS Airplay-compatible speakers in the office, living room, kitchen, bathroom and bedroom
• Limited computer and internet usage (browser only) through computer in office
• Ceiling fans in three rooms, central heating, and window ACs in summer
• Kitchen is well-stocked with the cooking and dining tools needed for many meals
• Balcony garden access available in the summer

Interaction with Guests

For most stays, we'll leave instructions for accessing keys and you'll have the place to yourself. We'll also leave phone numbers and email addresses and you're welcome to call/text/iMessage us questions as you need.

The Neighborhood

On the cusp of Boerum Hill and Cobble Hill, this area has a rich history dating to the early Dutch farmer settlements. Smith Street (and Court Street nearby) have become bustling, family-friendly streets chock-full of limitless restaurants, coffee shops, small stores, bars and other amenities.

A Blue Bottle Coffee just opened up downstairs, so you'll wake to the wonderful smell of coffee. Try their New Orleans-style iced coffee (hint: it includes chicory).

Be sure to visit MTA's New York Transit Museum a few short blocks away as well as the site of the world's oldest subway tunnel next to Trader Joe's Grocery Store (search 'Verge Tunnel Vision').

Take a stroll south on Smith Street via Goog Street View and see for yourself!

Getting around

It's one block to the F/G subways at Bergen and a 8-min walk to the A/C (Hoyt-Schermerhorn or Jay St), 2/3 (Hoyt) or 2/3/4/5 (Borough Hall), which will put you in Manhattan in a jiffy.

Street parking is available directly outside the apartment and surrounding streets on a first-come, first-served basis, but it's a heck of a lot easier to find parking in Brooklyn than in the much-denser Manhattan. Most overnight guests find parking on the block.

  • Matt's charming apartment was our wedding weekend sanctuary. From the moment my mother, sister and I stepped through the door ( laden with garment bags, and the stress that comes with such an exciting event) we were absolutely at home. Matt was attentive to all of my questions and requests leading up to our stay, and upon our arrival we were met with a thoughtful welcome packet and little notes to help make their space truly feel like our little nest.

And boy, was it beautiful! Full of little touches and details to make the design savvy swoon, everything was clean, spacious, updated, organized and cozy. Our favorite nook was the little garden outside the main bedroom! Set in what has to be one of Brooklyn's most charming neighborhoods, it's perched above a Blue Bottle Coffee, a matter of blocks away from favorites like Building on Bond, Rucola and Van Leeuwen's.

Matt was a perfect host. My mother is now in love with Brooklyn and eager that my new husband and I find an apartment for ourselves just like this one. Our stay was a total delight.

  • We had a wonderful time in Matt's apartment. It is absolutely stunning, spacious, well designed and decorated, and immaculate. Matt left us a gorgeous welcome package and we settled in (email hidden)e second bed, the air bed, is much more substantial than most and perfectly suitable for 2 adults sharing. We didn't use the kitchen but its large for a NY apartment and there's a lovely dining area. The area itself is wonderful - there's a great coffee shop literally downstairs (you can smell it from bed!) and there are cute boutiques and restaurants aplenty. A 15 min cab ride to Manhattan, we couldn't have asked for anything else. Thanks Matt, we'll be back! xx
