Wonderful experience, with fresh challah waiting in the room when we arrived, and quiet location to just chill after a full day's wine-tasting. The kitchenette was well-stocked for a DIY breakfast (challah french toast!) and the entire place was spotless. The chicken coop is out back, so you will hear the roosters crowing early in the morning--which I enjoyed, along with the chicken-spotting guide left in the room. =)
Larry provided quick responses to email and was accommodating despite our changing schedule.
From my parents: "Larry was a very welcoming host. We were given fresh brown eggs and homemade bread for our upcoming breakfasts The room was well appointed and very homey. Larry made a simplified map of the area and a binder of local attractions that was quite helpful. We really enjoyed our three day stay at Rooster Hill and would highly recommend it. Easy WiFi connection and no TV(thank you!). Beautiful country setting with gorgeous sunrise accompanied by the rooster crowing."
Our stay at rooster Hill was great! Larry was very kind throughout the stay and the environment was very relaxing. I was there for a bike race and Larry was kind enough to provide a bike stand and even offered to go out onto the course to mark pot holes. I recommend the region and Rooster Hill for a vacation.
I stayed at Larry's place for a weekend, and I had a delightful experience. He's a very welcoming host, the place was immaculate and beautifully decorated. The breakfast included was delicious, fresh home made bread and farm fresh eggs, milk, butter and jam among other delicious treats. The place is ideally located close enough to the downtown mall but in the peaceful scenery of the country side. I look forward to stay here again in my future visit to Charlottesville. Thanks Larry!
About the Host, Larry
Hi, My name is Larry and my wife is Dina. We are the owners of Rooster Hill Bed and Breakfast. Both of us are now retired, so we have plenty of time to work around the house, prepare the apartments for our guests and talking about the area with our guests.
Dina loves to grow vegetables and plants. The house is surrounded by many flowering plants; and in her vegetable garden it's usually fully of promising vegetables. Dina is also a fairly good artist; you'll see her stained glass rooster in room #2. She is also a good cook and baker; and I think that you will agree after you taste her fresh baked bread with your breakfast. As for me, I'm a hands on guy who likes to think that he can build stuff. I have a wood shop and a lot of experience in the trades from building our house. I also enjoy cycling, especially touring. If you bring your bikes with you, I can recommend some very nice rides nearby or help you fix them if they break.
I'm a very modest person, but I am sure that you will like your visit to Virginia and staying at our place.
