The cottage is situated in Varengeville sur Mer, 19 km south-west of Dieppe in Northern Normandy, about three hours drive from Brussels, two hours from Paris, five hours from London. The village is well known for the artists that lived and worked there.
White cliffs and large beaches are at walking distance from the house. Some beaches are wild and untouched, with incredible rock formations, others are more touristic. The house is embraced by woods within a rolling landscape of fields.
The agricultural area hides charming villages, which are well connected by a good road infrastructure. Good for bike rides.
Birds, butterflies and squirrels, cows and horses complete the natural environment. The sky at night is a wonderfully full of stars. Nothing spoils the silence and peacefulness of the place.

An amazing rustic cottage in a beautiful, tranquil spot. If you are looking for something more traditional over a hotel or B&B, this is the place for you. It proved to be the perfect stop off point for our journey home.
I have to be honest though, the puppets hanging from the ceiling creeped us out a bit (lot)! :-Z
Having interrupted my studies in architecture I packed my bags and started doing some graphic work in Afghanistan during the late seventies. Making menus in exchange for cakes, decorating houses that offered me a bed, I enjoyed the simple pleasures of a village at the feet of the Bamyian Buddhas.
On returning to Europe I finished my studies in philosophy, walked and did not look back. I set up a graphic studio where during long years I made (too) many magazines, brochures and other pretty things with texts and pictures.
I was restless, curious, mindful of when I first saw the Flatiron Building on Fifth Avenue and in my mind a billboard flipped on: "Always be ready for a surprise in life".
I love skyscrapers. You too?
