Villa Manis, Taman Kaja, Ubud, Bali
This quaint, Colonial inspired, fully furnished, designer decorated, one bedroom villa is only a 10 minute walk from the Royal Palace of Ubud and the famous Ubud tourist market. This beautiful villa is ideal for a couple on holiday or a single person on retreat. Conveniently located to great shopping and fabulous restaurants, the villa is only minutes away from Central Ubud. With rice paddy and jungle views, an enclosed garden and shared saltwater pool, the villa is a cozy and comfortable exotic home away from home.
For a different type of holiday away from the big hotels, in a beautiful Balinese village, stay in your own place with a complete kitchen and friendly Balinese staff to take care of you. Take walks through the rice paddies down to town only minutes away.
We can also help arrange additional specialty guided tours with a neighbor driver to visit the local healers and spiritual teachers. The villa is also very close to all types of yoga classes and retreats, Tai Chi, Chi Kung classes and/or Ubud Fitness Gym, as well as some incredible spa experiences. We can even arrange for in house massages by some of the best massage therapists in Ubud as well as hair treatments, foot reflexology, manicures, pedicures, and facials.
The living room and side verandahs overlook the pool with views of the rice paddies, tropical garden and jungle river gorge. Enjoy your breakfast served on the outdoor verandah.
Our staff, Made, Wayan and Dewa will help make your holiday special and relaxing. They will clean the house each day, and also can prepare your breakfast for an additional cost of rp50,000 per person per day. If you don't feel like going out to the restaurants, they will be happy to cook for you at home for an additional cost. Many of the local restaurants also have home delivery. Made is a fabulous cook giving you a traditional Balinese home cooking experience. Wayan will also shop for you at the organic vegetable market and local supermarket to supply the house with your requested foods and drink.
The king size teak Colonial 4 poster bed is very comfortable with lots of cushy pillows, and the ensuite bathroom has a bathtub and open garden shower. Fall asleep to the sound of crickets and frogs, and from your bedroom verandah watch the working ducks and flying cranes in the rice fields, and observe the Balinese children flying their kites.
For an additional charge we can arrange for a car and driver to take you touring or to pick you up at the airport and deliver you to the door. Just give us your details.
I have lived in Bali for 22 years and have tons of experience, contacts and ideas for traveling in Bali and around Asia. So, I can also help to arrange any day trips around Bali to help make your holiday more efficient and fun.
My husband and I truly enjoyed our staying in the villa Manis. Marry was an wonderful hostess and gave a lot of help and information. The house is very clean and well maintained. And I loved the way Marry decorated the house in colonial fashion. oh, I shouldn't forget to mention about Wayan and Made, the ladies who clean the house and make breakfast. They were really nice and friendly. I would definitely come back to Villa Manis and recommend this place to friends!
First thing that I would like to say here is...I wish I could stay longer.
The place is clean, beautiful and very well taken care of. Mary and her employee are great and warm and they always makes you feel like family for staying there.
The size of the villa, the area was just perfect for our trip. There's a feeling that makes you want to comeback right after you leave. Thanks again for everything Mary:)
My wife and I spent 9 days in this villa and were reasonably happy. Our goal with the vacation was to relax by the pool as much as possible and not to have too much action, and Villa Manis was good for that. It is also a cozy little house and the staff are very friendly.
However, we did find the indoor chairs and the daybed stained with gecko poo, and the beddings smelt a bit, probably from the moist climate. We also found a large spider and a small snake in the house, which is probably a consequence of the proximity to the rice fields. However, the wall of sounds coming off the ricefields at night is very impressive to listen to.

Quite possibly the most relaxing holiday I have ever had. Mary's place was absolutely stunning and I can't recommend it highly enough. It is such a peaceful villa because of the location and design. The number of windows and doors welcomed brightness and warm breezes into the villa and this was excellent for reading and afternoon naps.
Mary was a great host. Approachable and down to earth. Her staff were amazing. They kept the villa wonderfully clean, made great breakfasts and the grounds were beautiful. On the day I arrived, I mentioned that I wanted to go to a grocery store and the next thing I knew, Wayan (one of the staff) drove me to the grocery store to make sure I had everything I wanted. Above and beyond.
The location is excellent. Everything in Ubud is within walking distance, but the villa is away from the hustle and bustle of the town. Best of both worlds.
If you are up for some exploring around Bali, Made (the driver) is excellent. The tour up north was a highlight of the trip.
A big thanks to Mary and her wonderful staff for making this such a lovely holiday. I cannot wait to return to Villa Manis. Still working on the plans.
We stayed for four nights at this property.
Communication was super smooth and we had no trouble getting to the place and the lovely housekeeper Wayan was there to greet us and welcome us to the villa.
The place itself is gorgeous, super clean and the position is as such that while you can easily stroll the 800m to the main street of Ubud, you are sufficiently far removed from the traffic and congestion to enjoy total serenity in the house, the garden or the pool.
For anyone seeking a perfect Ubud getaway in a tranquil setting away from the villa complexes, this is the place to go.
I cannot recommend this property highly enough and extend my gratitude to our host Mary and the housekeeper Wayan for a memorable Ubud experience !
A perfect place to stay in a great location, at the edge of town yet in a serene spot. Very well set up house, very comfortable, surrounding greenery very well kept, great terrace/pool area, and just generally wonderful vibe. Can't fault anything. Thanks Mary for being a great host!
Mary's villas look exactly like the photos if its not better. The location is quite , a short walk through rice field is all worth it, because you won't hear motorcycle noise.
Cleanness : excellent
Wifi: fast speed
Mattress : comfy
Bathroom: love the outdoor shower
Overall, very spacious villas for two person.
The driver Made is reliable, he knows the island inside out. He took us to some secret spots that's off the tourist path.
We also enjoy the homemade breakfast by Wayan and Nyoman.
We will definitely go back!
