Really a stunning rice field villa. Everything as displayed. A simple, yet luxurious accommodation- there is everything you need and the hosts are perfect and very helpful. We enjoyed a lot staying there- it's calm and peaceful out in the rice fields and you can reach the city in a few minutes with the motor bike. There is even a lovely house cat! And in the owners cafe in town you'll get delicious food. We would definitely recommend this place!
We had a little trouble finding the place from the directions provided. The villa was nice however everything felt a little old (lounges, bedding, furniture) the pool was a funky shade of green and didn't look healthy enough to swim in so we gave it a miss. The villa is located out of town so you would need a scooter or car to get food, drinks, supplies for the kitchen etc.
There is no backup generator which proved inconvenient when we had a blackout which left us with no hot water, no water pressure or wifi etc.
still a nice peaceful place to stay but personally I feel you would get better value for money from one of the local hotels or resorts for the money spent.
The quaint villa is located in the rice fields, about 15 minutes scooter ride from central Ubud. This place is recommended for people who don't mind the travel (we learnt how to ride the scooter out of necessity! It was safe and the road was very easy to navigate) and who love the serenity that nature offers. My husband and I enjoyed the tranquility and the wildlife (lots of birds, bats, frogs and insects). It was a lovely place to sit and relax, read a book and paint. Nothing else much in the way of entertainment, really (there was a selection of DVDs but the TV was quite far from the bed).
The bathroom has a shower and a toilet. We didn't get hot water but the cold showers were welcoming in the hot weather.
In terms of food, ordering in was not a problem. The best eatery we've been to during our stay in Ubud, Made Becik, is a 10minute scooter ride away (we tried walking once and it took us about 25 minutes).
Ms C was not in town but the villa was well run by her staff. Special thanks to Asri who went out of her way to make us feel comfortable. The airport pick-up and send-off were well-run too.
We had a great stay at Ms C's villa. Beautiful place in a beautiful area. The owners were away while we visited but the staff took great care of us to find a solution for all our needs. It is a little further from the heart of Ubud than we thought. Definitely couldn't walk, but the driver from the villa was not expensive. Overall a great stay and a wonderful place.
This place is set in a stunning location, in the middle of the rice fields in a very quaint village called Petulu, only ten minutes away by motorbike from Ubud. The pool area, outside living room and kitchen are lovely and the views are amazing! The value for money was very good (we paid about 53 euros per night).
However, the owner needs to spruce up the place - the more guests you have, the more money you make, the more you need to maintain the place. The kitchen area in particular needs some TLC.
Cleanliness was not good. We had dirty sheets and mouldy pillows upon arrival (yes, it's in the middle of the rice fields but that is a reason to keep an eye on these things more than you might usually have to and there is NO excuse for mouldy pillows!). A dehumidifer in the bedroom might help. The kitchen cupboards need fixing and cleaning inside and some extra equipment (like teaspoons) would be nice.
Communication with the host was not great. We were told that she was out of the country when we arrived so we had to communicate with different members of staff depending on the issue, thus not having a single reference point during our stay. On one particular occasion, after a day and a half without wifi and various attempts with different persons at getting it sorted, I emailed the owner to make sure she was aware of the situation. I was told to be patient because the place is in the middle of the rice fields :) The issue was sorted soon after.
We had a great stay at this villa and in Petulu, in general. The above suggestions and criticism should help to make future stays close to perfect!
Absolutely fantastic place. Beautiful pool and views and all round helpful staff and owners. It is a little out of Ubud but we liked the drive as we were experienced scooter riders and it was only 10-15 mins into town. so worth it for this peaceful villa (plus all the places in town deliver
Food and beer!)Chloe and Mykah, Kadek and Chino made our stay pleasant and memorable.....we hope to return one day! Thanks so much! X
