Dolanstown is situated on the beautiful West Coast of Ireland on its own fifteen acres of rocky fields, surrounded by traditional Connemara loose stone walls. The land sweeps down to a large, secluded, sandy beach – usually deserted – which is ideal for swimming, snorkelling, fishing and sand castles. The fields display a profusion of wild flowers in season. There are no other houses in the immediate vicinity and Dolanstown is well away from the main road, approached by a long winding boreen. The area is a haven for children to explore.
Interaction with Guests
Dolanstown is close to our other house, Folan's Cottage so if your group is large you can use both houses. Folan's Cottage is also on AirBnB. You will have the place to yourselves but our caretaker Nora is nearby if you have any issues. Nora is also available to come in and clean, cook and babysit. Agree hourly rate with her directly.
The beauty of this area is just breathtaking. The sandy beach at end of field is almost always deserted because there is no road access. It is safe for swimming and ideal for sand castles and shrimping in local rock pools. There are numerous coastal and hill walks in the immediate area and we are close to the Twelve Bens mountains which have some of the best hiking terrain in the country.
You will need your own transport. We are 5km from nearest town
