A rarity in the city, our sunny second floor studio apartment has a lofted bedroom, a living area with a fold out couch and gourmet kitchen. We are on a bus route and walking distance to two metro lines. Enjoy a three block walk to Lincoln Park or H Street!
Most DC rowhouses have english basement apartments that are cramped and do not get very much light. Our unique studio has two rows of above ground windows facing the street, as well as a window in the kichen bringing light into a different part of the apartment. There is also a private sleeping loft, giving multiple guests the opportunity to stay here and have their own space. We recently replaced the ladder to the loft with a custom-built staircase, including handrails. The apartment comfortably sleeps up to four guests in one queen bed and one full-size sofa bed. We also have a pack n' play for little ones.
Guests will have access to:
- Free wifi (password provided)
- Apple TV - just use your iTunes login!
- Full kitchen including a dishwasher and full size oven
Interaction with Guests
The apartment is actually part of the second floor of our house, so you are likely to hear giggles from our almost 3-yr old and barks from our little mutt. I promise he is very friendly, just saying hi! We will also check in with you after you arrive to make sure you have everything you need.
Capitol Hill is a great place to get a sense of the day-to-day activities of DC residents. You can walk to Eastern Market to do some shopping, relax in Lincoln Park, run to the Capitol or check out the great restaurants and nightlife on H street. Everything is walking distance from the apartment!
There are also a few markets nearby including the Sevens Rivers Market at 11th and C NE, the P&C Market on 11th Street across from Lincoln Park or the 7-11 a few block away.
We are on the D6 bus route which takes you to Union Station, downtown or Georgetown. We are also a few short blocks from three different bus lines that will take you directly to Nationals Park, Adams Morgan or the U Street area. We are just under 1 mile from the Eastern Market metro (blue line) or the Union Station metro (red line). There are also multiple Capitol Bike Share stations near our house and bike lanes to help you safely travel through the city.
Other Things to Note
If you do bring a pet, there is a nearby vet that we recommend:
- Address: 1326 H St NE, Washington, DC 20002
- No smoking and no parties
- We ask that you keep the noise down after 10 pm as we have little ones that need their sleep (who you will actually share a wall with)
- Pets allowed as long as they are house trained!!
- Contact us if you need anything at all!
Shannon was very helpful in providing suggestions to local eateries and places to go. The apartment was very clean and had everything you'd need for your DC vacation. The apartment itself was within walking distance to the state building and eastern market and close to Union station and the bus route. We had an amazing time!
Muy buena experiencia! Shannon y su familia súper amables y dispuestos a ayudarnos en todo momento. El apartamento hermoso y súper cerca de los museos, The mall y demás edificios gubernamentales.
We enjoyed our time in Shannon's apartment. It is in a very nice neighborhood and for those of us who like to walk it's great. We walked to the capital and beyond several times. The sofa bed was comfortable for us older folks who need to get up in the night so we preferred not to be in the loft which has a somewhat steep ladder/staircase. Shannon was very good at communication and we plan to stay there again in May.
Wonderful studio apartment. It was exactly as the pictures described. Very clean, well furnished, and close to the metro. We will definitely stay here again.
Shannon and Dan made us feel very welcomed. They left brochures and maps of museums as well as other things. They also left a laminated piece of paper with local food recommendations, places to visit, etc.
The apartment was spacious and can very easily fit four full sized adults. It was very cozy.
The location was convenient, it was within walking distance of the National Mall.
We had a slight issue with the shower, but Dan and Shannon responded to us and resolved the issue very quickly.
This has been a great place in a nice neighborhood. It is a short walk to the Capitol. We liked the way the apartment is decorated and since our luggage came late, we were happy that it is fully equipped. Our 6 year old daughter very much loved the bed on the top floor. I can only recommend this place, especially for small families.
Shannon and Dan are wonderful hosts, responding to my questions promptly and providing all the basics. The studio is bright, super-clean, and cozy. The area is quiet and charming, but close to everything you need and public transportation. I would stay here again and recommend it.
I live in Capitol Hill, DC and hang out with my wonderful husband (musician), adorable daughters (3 year old and a six month old) and dog (pure mutt). We get outside as much as possible whether its playing in the park, going to a Nats game or going for a hike.
