Bedroom, Bikes, and Breakfast!

House - Private room · Southeast 19th Avenue, Portland, OR 97202, United States

This clean and comfy room sleeps 2, is fully furnished with EVERYTHING you need. With the advantage of free breakfast, bicycles you can borrow, mass transit within 2 min, the best location and the best pricing on airbnb, let us show you the best Portland has to offer!

The Space

FYI Airbnbers- this is in the same home as our other listing which has a ton of great feedback- it's the same deal. :)

In your large cozy room, you have a great full-size futon, a chest of drawers, large mirror as well as an armoire to hang clothes. We have tons of bedding and warm stuff if you feel like you need it. Includes Wifi of course. Most people who visit Portland spend very little time in their rooms, but when you do, it will be super clean, comfortable and a great place to recharge!

About check in and check out times: We are really flexible on this and are okay if you want to drop off stuff early- we clean the room and wash 100% of the bedding between every guest. If you want to come in early, you may have to give us some extra time to make the room ready but we are okay with that.

Guest Access

You can use the kitchen or simply enjoy our free awesome breakfasts. We are casual and not stuffy and welcome everyone (LGBT friendly). We want you to be as comfortable as possible, so please use the living room, dining room, kitchen and laundry room. Check out the pictures and enjoy the outside space as well!

Interaction with Guests

Our approach to airbnb, com is a little warmer and more personal. Click the profile video to the right to see what we're about. We come from a long experience with (website hidden), etc and have received tons of positive feedback from our guests. Our time is our own, (self-employed) so we are totally open to joining you and showing you the best stuff around or leaving you on your own to enjoy the city! I would say we are completely easy going and have no agenda other than to see you have a good time. If you have any special concerns or requests, click the "CONTACT ME" button to your right and we will do our best to accommodate you.

The Neighborhood

When visiting Portland, where you stay is critical. You want to have easy access to everything. We have that. Our neighborhood is called "Sellwood-Moreland"- you can look it up online and see why it is such a desirable place to be. You can hop a bus and be downtown in 11 minutes! Our home is equal quick walking distance between 2 fantastic parks. We are also within a easy 15 minute walk to Reed College. We have 5 microbreweries and about 15 restaurants within 4 blocks. We can certainly make experienced recommendations! All of Portland is safe, but Sellwood is super safe. Everyone you will meet is super friendly.

Getting around

You won't need a car if you stay with us. Mass Transit is simple (there's an APP for that- "pdxbus"). The bus stop is a 2 min walk from our home and will get you wherever you want to go. We are also a short distance from the Springwater Corridor which is a great bike-only paved road that travels up the east side of the river.

There are bike shops in our neighborhood that will rent bikes for $35.00 per bike per day. We suggest you use our bikes instead. We charge $5 per bike per day (big savings-you can do the math). This also includes everything you need including helmets, lights, locks, cables, rain gear, gloves, bike basket cover, AND EVEN A CARGO TRAILER. Please note, you will be required to wear helmets when you borrow bikes. That is NOT optional.

If you have a destination in the Portland metro area that is not easily accessible via mass transit, or if you would like us to pick you up and/or take you to the airport, we are willing to drive you for $10. Also, we have a vehicle for rent on a website similar to AirBnb (but for cars). You can discuss this further with us if you like.

Other Things to Note

We want to help you look back on your Portland stay as one of your best trips ever. We would encourage you to eat breakfast with us (since it is free and we have a great cook). We have a ton of books about how to "do" Portland, whether restaurants, outdoors, nightlife, etc. Borrow whatever interests you then borrow our bikes and see the city this way!

1) Hairdryer, Towels, Shampoo, and Soap- Yes, we have these for you, leave yours at home and save space.

2) Tea Kettle- Yes, we have one for you along with 40 types of tea. Use it in the kitchen or in your room, your choice!

3) We are kid friendly- older ones would do better as our house isn't "toddler proofed". There ARE 2 parks with playground stuff within a 5 min walk :)

4) $5 cleaning fee; we wash EVERY piece of bed linen between EVERY guest stay and deep clean the bathroom DAILY because that's what we would want if we were guests. You only pay this fee once and it is included in your booking. :)

5) Smoking is only allowed outside on the front and back porches.

6) Well-behaved dogs are allowed as long as they stay outside in our fenced back yard. If you have a special situation with your dog, we'd be happy to discuss it with you.

  • My stay with Kristin was so lovely! She and Kip were warm and welcoming and made me feel at home. They are happy to let you do your own thing but if you take the opportunity some great conversations are to be had! The house was in an easy and convenient location on a beautiful street and don't even get me started on breakfast! They created beautiful healthy meals that make an outstanding start to any day... Better than you could ask for at a restaurant, I highly recommend staying here. I would do it again in a heartbeat.

  • My stay at Kristin and Kip's was so lovely! They are so generous with their time, space, bikes, and suggestions. I feel so fortunate to have stayed with them - I very much benefitted from the bike rental and their recommendations for delicious places to eat while I was in Portland. The bike trail from their house to downtown is so beautiful and peaceful, and they also helped me navigate the public transit system. The house is clean and cozy, and the room had everything I needed. The neighborhood is very sweet, safe, and walkable/bikeable. Thank you so much for a great visit, I highly recommend this AirBnB spot to anyone traveling through Portland!

  • We had a fantastic stay with Kristin and Kip in their lovely home in Portland. They were enormously helpful even to extent of picking us up from the airport which was very welcome indeed. The room was comfortable and the bed even more so!! Portland is a cyclists paradise and we we were able to enjoy this aspect of Portland through the use of their bicycles - this was the icing on the cake for us. Kristin and Kip were also really informative and gave us lots of advice about what to explore, areas of interest and where to find a nice craft beer.

The house is in a quiet peaceful street but close to transport links so very easy to get to by bike or bus.

    Great staying there

  • Kristin and Kip were excellent hosts! They made us feel right at home and very comfortable during our stay. They were very friendly and gave us dozens of suggestions for ways to spend our time in Portland. The house and room were very clean and the bed was super comfy! The location was perfect too. We seemed to be only a 5-10 minute drive from everywhere we wanted to visit. This was my first time using airbnb and I was completely satisfied with the hosts and where we stayed. I not only would use this website again, but I would stay with Kristin and Kip again as well!

  • I came to a state I've never been to, to stay with people I've never met, in a bed I've never slept in. And guess what? I've never felt more at home.

Other reviewers have it on point: there is something about staying with Kip and Kristin that feels just like stopping in and hanging out with old friends for a bit. Whether it's the delicious breakfast cooked each morning by Kip, the "Portland" 101 sessions they give so willingly, or the warm, fuzzy feeling of the home in general, I felt I couldn't have picked a better place to crash for my short visit in the City of Roses. Kip and Kristin are inviting, attentive, and extremely fun to be around. My only regret was not getting to hang with them more!

I'd also like to throw out some bonus points for the decor of their amazing home. I mean, how could I not fall in love with a house that has Hayao Miyazaki posters hanging in it?

  • Kristin and Kip provided us with a warm, clean, friendly home to stay while we explored a new city for a whole week. They were very knowledgeable of the city and offered endless helpful recommendations on what not to miss while visiting. Our trip would not have been the same if not for the fun, comfortable home to come back to each night.

  • There is a theme throughout the reviews for Kristin's great place and we agree. It's like visiting friends or family. Kristin and Kip were very friendly, interesting to talk with and the place is comfortable and nice. Great neighborhood for walking. We were only there one night while attending a professional training so didn't get time to take advantage of the visit. Hope we can return sometime just for fun!

  • Kristin and Kip were great hosts!! First off, the house was cozy, full of charm, and in the perfect part of the city...within walking distance of great bars, shops, and restaurants. They pointed us in the direction of some unforgettable places, and were all around very cool people. (Also, they make awesome breakfasts!) We loved our stay in Portland, and can't wait to come back!!

  • The epitome of hospitality! Kip and Kristen treated me as though I was a family member returning home.
My trip was an unplanned, last minute excursion from Austin but Kip and Kristen helped to give structure to it by recommending areas of Portland for me to visit.
I enjoy cycling, so I rented one of the bikes from Kip. Before I headed out the door, he made sure that not only would I be visible to others but that I would stay warm and dry.
Fondest memories are those that I was able to share with this couple; Breakfast in the mornings with hearty discussion while enjoying a delicious meal. Watching the soccer game, Portland VS Vancouver over drinks at Bazi.
There are many BnBs in the Portland area to choose from, but I'm so glad that I was able to stay in the home of Kip and Kristen. When I return to Portland, I already know where I'll be staying.

  • That was one of our best airbnb stays ever! The house and the room itself were wonderful: very cozy, clean, with lots of nice details that make you feel at home. The location was great too! Either on foot, by bike or by bus - all the spots of interest are close by and we had a chance to take a nice brake from driving.

Kristin and Kip are WONDERFUL hosts!!! Very friendly, very helpful. We seemed to have similar views on things so all their advices on where to go and what to see were 100% true. And this is the greatest thing you get with airbnb - insider information from people who love their city and are happy to share this love with you. Kristin and Kip are just this type of hosts!

We would definitely want to stay at their place once again if we have another opportunity to visit Portland - one of the best cities in the world as we know now thanks to our hosts =)

So you are visiting Portland huh? Well you've come to the right place. More than just a place to stay, we are committed to helping everyone get the most of their time here. We have made a full time cause of learning and experiencing the best of Portland's culture, be it food, nightlife outdoors or any of the myriad of "quirky" events that "keep Portland weird". Seriously, whether here for business or vacation, Portland is too much fun to miss out by staying in a hotel and not knowing what to do or where to go. We like biking, drinking beer, listening to local bands, going dancing, watching soccer, exploring the wilderness and participating in anything that is new and sounds fun! We enjoy our city every day and want to share that with you.
