The Space

FYI Airbnbers- this is in the same home as our other listing which has a ton of great feedback- it's the same deal. :)

In your large cozy room, you have a great full-size futon, a chest of drawers, large mirror as well as an armoire to hang clothes. We have tons of bedding and warm stuff if you feel like you need it. Includes Wifi of course. Most people who visit Portland spend very little time in their rooms, but when you do, it will be super clean, comfortable and a great place to recharge!

About check in and check out times: We are really flexible on this and are okay if you want to drop off stuff early- we clean the room and wash 100% of the bedding between every guest. If you want to come in early, you may have to give us some extra time to make the room ready but we are okay with that.

Guest Access

You can use the kitchen or simply enjoy our free awesome breakfasts. We are casual and not stuffy and welcome everyone (LGBT friendly). We want you to be as comfortable as possible, so please use the living room, dining room, kitchen and laundry room. Check out the pictures and enjoy the outside space as well!

Interaction with Guests

Our approach to airbnb, com is a little warmer and more personal. Click the profile video to the right to see what we're about. We come from a long experience with (website hidden), etc and have received tons of positive feedback from our guests. Our time is our own, (self-employed) so we are totally open to joining you and showing you the best stuff around or leaving you on your own to enjoy the city! I would say we are completely easy going and have no agenda other than to see you have a good time. If you have any special concerns or requests, click the "CONTACT ME" button to your right and we will do our best to accommodate you.

The Neighborhood

When visiting Portland, where you stay is critical. You want to have easy access to everything. We have that. Our neighborhood is called "Sellwood-Moreland"- you can look it up online and see why it is such a desirable place to be. You can hop a bus and be downtown in 11 minutes! Our home is equal quick walking distance between 2 fantastic parks. We are also within a easy 15 minute walk to Reed College. We have 5 microbreweries and about 15 restaurants within 4 blocks. We can certainly make experienced recommendations! All of Portland is safe, but Sellwood is super safe. Everyone you will meet is super friendly.

Getting around

You won't need a car if you stay with us. Mass Transit is simple (there's an APP for that- "pdxbus"). The bus stop is a 2 min walk from our home and will get you wherever you want to go. We are also a short distance from the Springwater Corridor which is a great bike-only paved road that travels up the east side of the river.

There are bike shops in our neighborhood that will rent bikes for $35.00 per bike per day. We suggest you use our bikes instead. We charge $5 per bike per day (big savings-you can do the math). This also includes everything you need including helmets, lights, locks, cables, rain gear, gloves, bike basket cover, AND EVEN A CARGO TRAILER. Please note, you will be required to wear helmets when you borrow bikes. That is NOT optional.

If you have a destination in the Portland metro area that is not easily accessible via mass transit, or if you would like us to pick you up and/or take you to the airport, we are willing to drive you for $20 (a cab will cost you $40-50 including tip). Also, we have a vehicle for rent on a website similar to AirBnb (but for cars). You can discuss this further with us if you like.

Other Things to Note

We want to help you look back on your Portland stay as one of your best trips ever. We would encourage you to eat breakfast with us (since it is free and we have a great cook). We have a ton of books about how to "do" Portland, whether restaurants, outdoors, nightlife, etc. Borrow whatever interests you then borrow our bikes and see the city this way!

1) Hairdryer, Towels, Shampoo, and Soap- Yes, we have these for you, leave yours at home and save space.

2) Tea Kettle- Yes, we have one for you along with 40 types of tea. Use it in the kitchen or in your room, your choice!

3) We are kid friendly- older ones would do better as our house isn't "toddler proofed". There ARE 2 parks with playground stuff within a 5 min walk :)

4) $5 cleaning fee; we wash EVERY piece of bed linen between EVERY guest stay and deep clean the bathroom DAILY because that's what we would want if we were guests. You only pay this fee once and it is included in your booking. :)

5) Smoking is only allowed outside on the front and back porches.

6) Well-behaved dogs are allowed as long as they stay outside in our fenced back yard. If you have a special situation with your dog, we'd be happy to discuss it with you.

  • Absolutely a wonderful stay. Couldn't have asked for better hosts. Kip and Kristin were very friendly, organized, and extremely knowledgeable about Portland and surrounding areas. They made us feel right at home. We rented bikes from them, which was a perfect way to see the city. They also gave us a map and highlighted key areas of town based on what our interests were. The breakfast were vey good as well. I would definitely recommend this airbnb to anyone staying in portland. Thanks Kip and Kristin.

  • Had an awesome experience with Kristin and Kip! They gave great recommendations on the wonders of Portland, including where to go and where to skip as a first time tourist. The bike rental and pick up options were affordable and worth it. Thanks for having me!

  • This was our first Air B & B experience and we were very impressed! Kristin and Kip were very warm, inviting, friendly hosts and made us feel very welcome and relaxed right from the minute we met. They were extremely accommodating and took all the guess work out of where to go for a great meal, the best bike routes, places to see etc. They are clearly passionate about living in Portland and live in an amazing area, in fact it could not be better. Just walking to a local restaurant was a joy due to the variety of architecture you could observe during your stroll. Kristin and Kip spent time carefully outfitting us with their comfortable bikes and gave excellent suggestions on the best places to ride. The bike riding in Portland is second to none and In their neighbourhood (Sellwood) has to be about the best. Our accommodation was very clean, comfortable and we felt right at home. Kit's culinary skills are fabulous and we enjoyed delicious, nutritious breakfasts which stuck to our ribs right through until dinner time. We would definitely stay at "Bedroom, Bikes, and Breakfast" again and feel that staying with Kristin and Kip was the icing on the cake! We really appreciated them taking us to the airport at the end of our stay (at a much less rate than a taxi ride would have been).

  • Kristin is a great host, very friendly and polite! The house is in a safe neighborhood and is a good representation of Portland. The location has easy access to public transportation, and Kristin was very helpful in showing us how to use it as efficiently as possible.

  • Kristin and Kip are fabulous hosts and we enjoyed our stay very much! Their knowledge of Portland was most helpful and it was fun visiting with them over coffee and tea. The bike rental was so cheap and we got to see so much of the river corridor. Highly recommended!

  • This is my second booking with Kristen and Kip and unfortunately my flight was canceled and I didn't make it! However, my partner––included in the booking––made it there without me and K&K were very cool about the fact that his flight was delayed a few hours and he ended up getting in very late. My partner said he had a really nice time chatting with Kristen over coffee in the morning and that they were very kind and let him leave his bag there after checking out while he explored Portland. Despite all of our travel difficulties K&K remained totally flexible and communicative and friendly! Again, totally recommended!

  • This is a great place to stay. It is easy to catch public transportation and a nice neighborhood with great places to eat. Kristin and Kip were excellent host, giving directions, information, wonderful breakfast, and interesting conversations. Renting bikes was easy and inexpensive with the bike trail close by in a quiet neighborhood. We were very happy with our stay, the hospitality and the quality of service. Thanks for a delightful experience!

  • Kristin and Kip were amazing hosts!! I was looking for a chance to explore Portland and get to know the city and didn't really come in with much planned. They were so kind and gave me lots of tips on places to eat, things to see and do, and even sat down with me and pulled out a map to mark where things were and the best way to get to them. They're very laid back and that made for a great environment to come back to everyday! Plus they fixed a great breakfast every morning!! The area they live in is pretty cool and I could walk to a grocery store whenever I needed anything, as well as plenty of food and drink options. The bus stops were very close by (5 min walk) and got us into the city within 30 min. Portland is a really cool city and there's no one better to stay with and to tell you all about it than Kristin and Kip!! I would stay with them again in a heartbeat!

So you are visiting Portland huh? Well you've come to the right place. More than just a place to stay, we are committed to helping everyone get the most of their time here. We have made a full time cause of learning and experiencing the best of Portland's culture, be it food, nightlife outdoors or any of the myriad of "quirky" events that "keep Portland weird". Seriously, whether here for business or vacation, Portland is too much fun to miss out by staying in a hotel and not knowing what to do or where to go. We like biking, drinking beer, listening to local bands, going dancing, watching soccer, exploring the wilderness and participating in anything that is new and sounds fun! We enjoy our city every day and want to share that with you.
