About this listing
This comfy room sleeps 2. We offer free breakfast, bikes you can rent, mass transit within 5 min, and a walkable neighborhood! If this is already booked you can still stay with us! We have another place 8 blocks away with the same features. Ask us!
In your large cozy room, you have a great full-size bed, a chest of drawers, large mirror as well as an armoire to hang clothes. We have tons of bedding and warm stuff if you feel like you need it. There is a shared bathroom down the hall from your room. Please note: our house is not well suited for small children. Kids 12 and older are welcome.
You can use the kitchen or simply enjoy our free awesome breakfasts which we serve at 9:00am every day except Tuesday and Saturday. We are casual and not stuffy and welcome everyone (LGBT friendly). We want you to be as comfortable as possible, so please use the living room, dining room, kitchen and laundry room. Check out the pictures and enjoy the outside space as well!
Interaction with Guests

We love hosting and have received tons of positive feedback from our guests. I would say we are completely easy going and have no agenda other than to see you have a good time. When visiting Portland, where you stay is critical. You want to have easy access to everything. We have that. Our neighborhood is called "Sellwood-Moreland"- you can look it up online and see why it is such a desirable place to be. You can hop a bus and be downtown in 11 minutes! Our home is equal quick walking distance between 2 fantastic parks. We are also within an easy 15 minute walk to Reed College. We have 4 microbreweries and about 15 restaurants within 4 blocks. We can certainly make experienced recommendations! All of Portland is safe, but Sellwood is super safe. Everyone you will meet is super friendly.
You won't need a car if you stay with us, but we have them available (see below). Mass transit is simple (there's an APP for that- "pdxbus"). The bus stop is a 2 min walk from our home and will get you wherever you want to go. We are also a short distance from the Springwater Corridor which is a great bike-only paved road that travels up the east side of the river.
There are bike shops in our neighborhood that will rent bikes for $55.00 per bike per day. We suggest you use our bikes instead. We charge $8 per bike per day (big savings-you can do the math). This also includes everything you need including helmets, lights, locks, cables, rain gear, gloves, and a bike basket cover. Please note, you will be required to wear helmets when you rent our bikes. That is NOT optional.
If you would like us to pick you up and/or take you to the airport, we are willing to drive you for $25 (a cab will cost a LOT more).
If you find yourself needing to rent a car (like a day trip to the coast or the Gorge), you can rent a 2008 Volkswagen GTI or an ALL ELECTRIC 2015 Fiat 500e. All of these will be MUCH cheaper than a car rental PLUS they are right near where you will be staying! If you are considering renting one of the cars, please let us know ASAP. They book up fast.
Other Things to Note
We want to help you look back on your Portland stay as one of your best trips ever. We would encourage you to eat breakfast with us (since it is free and we have a great cook). We have a ton of books about how to "do" Portland, whether restaurants, outdoors, nightlife, etc. Borrow whatever interests you then rent our bikes and see the city this way!
1) Hairdryer, Towels, Shampoo, and Soap- Yes, we have these for you, leave yours at home and save space.
2) Tea Kettle- Yes, we have one for you along with 40 types of tea. Use it in the kitchen or in your room, your choice!
3) $10 cleaning fee; we wash EVERY piece of bed linen between EVERY guest stay and deep clean the bathroom DAILY because that's what we would want if we were guests. You only pay this fee once and it is included in your booking. :)
4) Smoking is only allowed outside on the front and back porches.
Smoking on front or back porch only.
Other than that, we are respectful hosts and happy people who look forward to meeting you!
Communication was super easy including all additional information. Location was great, easy to get everywhere. Unfortunately we met Kristin just briefly before we left but not without recommendations where to go. Thank you for having us ...
Had such a fantastic time in Portland, Kip and Kristin made me feel at home in this fantastic city and I didn't feel like leaving at all in the end, I hope I will be back soon and check out the Bohemian Dub Orchestra!
Kristen and Kip were amazing hosts! They made our experience in visiting Portland for the first time better than we could have expected! Their knowledge and expertise in the areas to visit and places to see were so helpful. The bicycles we rented were a great way to see the area. Great location and amazing hosts! Would definitely stay with them again!!
it was a very welcoming stay. they were both very nice. the house is easy to find and in a safe neighborhood. the room looks exactly like the picture.
the only negative thing is the bed and sheets are wool material so it was very hot to sleep at night. even with the window open, the wool material made sleeping really hot. i personally couldnt fall asleep way past midnight when the air outside got cooler
Thank you for your kindness! Kristin and kip are very friendly and kind. Clean room, cute living and nice kitchen. They told me a lot about the city, so my trip to Portland was to be wonderful! Thanks.
We felt very welcome at the B&B. Kristin and Kip are great.
Friendly hosts and a convenient neighborhood ten minutes' drive from the Reed campus helped make up for a somewhat cramped bedroom, a slippery shower and highly unusual breakfast fare.
Hi All, the pictures of the bedroom were on the listing. The bathroom is deep cleaned daily. And I don't fee right sending people out who walk our fine city with a heavy breakfast that is going to make them crash in an hour. In short, I think Airbnb is not a good match for you guys. Even if it means you have to drive 5 extra minutes, a hotel would be a much better match for the two of you.

About the Host, Kristin
So you are visiting Portland huh? Well you've come to the right place. More than just a place to stay, we are committed to helping everyone get the most of their time here. We have made a full time cause of learning and experiencing the best of Portland's culture, be it food, nightlife outdoors or any of the myriad of "quirky" events that "keep Portland weird". Seriously, whether here for business or vacation, Portland is too much fun to miss out by staying in a hotel and not knowing what to do or where to go. We like biking, drinking beer, listening to local bands/DJs, going dancing, watching soccer, exploring the wilderness and participating in anything that is new and sounds fun! We enjoy our city every day and want to share that with you.
