This comfy room sleeps 2. We offer free breakfast, bikes you can rent, mass transit within 5 min, and a walkable neighborhood! If this is already booked you can still stay with us! We have another place 8 blocks away with the same features. Ask us!
In your large cozy room, you have a great full-size bed, a chest of drawers, large mirror as well as an armoire to hang clothes. We have tons of bedding and warm stuff if you feel like you need it. Please note: our house is not well suited for small children. Kids 12 and older are welcome.
You can use the kitchen or simply enjoy our free awesome breakfasts. We are casual and not stuffy and welcome everyone (LGBT friendly). We want you to be as comfortable as possible, so please use the living room, dining room, kitchen and laundry room. Check out the pictures and enjoy the outside space as well!
Interaction with Guests
Our approach to airbnb, com is a little warmer and more personal. Click the profile video to the right to see what we're about. We love hosting and have received tons of positive feedback from our guests. Our time is our own, (self-employed) so we are totally open to joining you and showing you the best stuff around or leaving you on your own to enjoy the city! I would say we are completely easy going and have no agenda other than to see you have a good time. If you have any special concerns or requests, click the "CONTACT ME" button to your right and we will do our best to accommodate you.
When visiting Portland, where you stay is critical. You want to have easy access to everything. We have that. Our neighborhood is called "Sellwood-Moreland"- you can look it up online and see why it is such a desirable place to be. You can hop a bus and be downtown in 11 minutes! Our home is equal quick walking distance between 2 fantastic parks. We are also within an easy 15 minute walk to Reed College. We have 4 microbreweries and about 15 restaurants within 4 blocks. We can certainly make experienced recommendations! All of Portland is safe, but Sellwood is super safe. Everyone you will meet is super friendly.
You won't need a car if you stay with us, but we have them available (see below). Mass transit is simple (there's an APP for that- "pdxbus"). The bus stop is a 2 min walk from our home and will get you wherever you want to go. We are also a short distance from the Springwater Corridor which is a great bike-only paved road that travels up the east side of the river.
There are bike shops in our neighborhood that will rent bikes for $55.00 per bike per day. We suggest you use our bikes instead. We charge $8 per bike per day (big savings-you can do the math). This also includes everything you need including helmets, lights, locks, cables, rain gear, gloves, and a bike basket cover. Please note, you will be required to wear helmets when you rent our bikes. That is NOT optional.
If you would like us to pick you up and/or take you to the airport, we are willing to drive you for $25 (a cab will cost a LOT more). If you need a ride once you are in the city (like for something not near mass transit) just ask and we can probably do it for 10-20 bucks.
Once you get here, if you find yourself needing to rent a car (like a day trip to the coast or the Gorge), you have access to a 2005 Toyota Camry, a 2008 Volkswagen GTI or an ALL ELECTRIC 2015 Fiat 500e. All of these will be MUCH cheaper than a car rental PLUS they are right near where you will be staying!
Other Things to Note
We want to help you look back on your Portland stay as one of your best trips ever. We would encourage you to eat breakfast with us (since it is free and we have a great cook). We have a ton of books about how to "do" Portland, whether restaurants, outdoors, nightlife, etc. Borrow whatever interests you then rent our bikes and see the city this way!
1) Hairdryer, Towels, Shampoo, and Soap- Yes, we have these for you, leave yours at home and save space.
2) Tea Kettle- Yes, we have one for you along with 40 types of tea. Use it in the kitchen or in your room, your choice!
3) $10 cleaning fee; we wash EVERY piece of bed linen between EVERY guest stay and deep clean the bathroom DAILY because that's what we would want if we were guests. You only pay this fee once and it is included in your booking. :)
4) Smoking is only allowed outside on the front and back porches.
We need to be home to welcome our guests, so please be as specific as you can about arrival times and text us if any changes come up during your travel day. We want to make sure that we are there to give you a warm welcome!
Smoking on front or back porch only.
Other than that, we are respectful hosts and happy people who look forward to meeting you!
Kristin and Kip were wonderful hosts! They were kind enough to make us breakfast and coffee every morning and we stayed for 6 days. The neighborhood is super cute and felt safe. Everyone was very friendly and there are a bunch of little good restaurants and bars and a grocery store just 3 blocks up the road. The shower worked well and our bed was really comfy. They were fun to talk to and made us feel at home. For our first time in Portland they made sure we had a good time and we would enjoy staying with them again in the future. We learned that Kristin loves doing laundry and Kip is a good cook. ;) Thanks for everything!
First time airbnb'er - was an excellent experience. Kristin and Kip were great hosts on top of being super personable and provided excellent food and activity recommendations. We borrowed thier bikes and rode along the water front. Best Portlandia experience yet. But sorry, Kip - Seattle still rules!
Our stay was amazing! Kristin was super flexible about our check in time (we deviated from the original plan due to hungry tummies and a sunny day in Portland) and was incredibly friendly and helpful from the moment we arrived to the moment we left. Breakfast and coffee every day were delicious and we really loved the neighborhood and chatting with other guests. We will definitely be back!
The house was in a great location with nearby shopping & restaurants. The hosts were very helpful and friendly. Small bed and room enlivened by late night returnees.
Breakfast could use a boost of diversity & quality, green soup for breakfast two days in a row.
One bathroom for two guest rooms and family of three plus guests of their own. One hand-towel to share. We got our own bath towels but no wash cloths.
BUT, the price was GREAT and we enjoyed our stay!
Thanks for the feedback! Yes we had lentils and rice, a guest favorite one day and the second rainy day we wanted people to start out with homemade soup and bread. I wish you had said something as we love to sit down at breakfast with our guests and certainly could have prepared something else for you. Either way we are happy you enjoyed Portland! Happy Knitting!
Kristin was a warm host. She offered recommendations on local bars and even offered to make us breakfast. We only stayed two nights, and spent most of that time out exploring Portland but I am sure Kristin would have been an amazing resource had we not already planned an itinerary.
I had a great time staying with Kristin and Kip! They are very welcoming and make you feel right at home. Their place is cozy, in a beautiful neighborhood, and walking distance to everywhere. And if you don't like walking take the buses or better yet ride one of their bikes! The biking experience in Portland is a must and their set up is really convenient and inexpensive. I will definitely return to Portland and I wouldn't stay anywhere else!
The listing as described in the post was exactly as advertised. My wife and I had a wonderful time visiting with Kristin and Kip, on our first AirBnB experience, while we were visiting and looking for various options to relocate in Portland. Kristin and Kip provided us with a very helpful map, and assisted us throughout the day, whenever we felt like we were getting lost. If we had more time, we would have certainly used the bikes. They appeared like they were in great condition, and looking for some attention from a rider! The first night, we arrived later than expected, and we were given very detailed instructions on how to enter the home, find our bedroom, and bathroom. When we come back to Portland, we hope Kristin and Kip have space available in their home again for us to stay.

So you are visiting Portland huh? Well you've come to the right place. More than just a place to stay, we are committed to helping everyone get the most of their time here. We have made a full time cause of learning and experiencing the best of Portland's culture, be it food, nightlife outdoors or any of the myriad of "quirky" events that "keep Portland weird". Seriously, whether here for business or vacation, Portland is too much fun to miss out by staying in a hotel and not knowing what to do or where to go. We like biking, drinking beer, listening to local bands/DJs, going dancing, watching soccer, exploring the wilderness and participating in anything that is new and sounds fun! We enjoy our city every day and want to share that with you.
