The space

Relax! Enjoy a room in a private/secluded wing in our large home. Your room will have a Romantic canopy bed, private bathroom and luxurious linens. Enjoy Des Moines the friends and family way....why stay in a crowded hotel with strangers? We don't do volume...we do quality!

We will frequently offer multi-room, or weekly discounts to guests, please don't hesitate to contact us. Students and members of the United States Military always get a discount.

REGARDING CHILDREN - Our home is not child-proofed and not suitable for small children. One of our cats is a rescue animal who is terrified of children. Please contact us on a case-by-case basis regarding children.

-Chemical Sensitivities? We do occasionally use scented candles, bleach and scented laundry soap. Please let us know if you would prefer we not light candles or unplug an electric warmer we might have on for the duration of your visit. If your allergies are severe we might not be a good fit for you.

.
Temperature: Since we are a private home we do not have individual thermostat controls in each guest room. We strive to keep our home temperature between 68-72 degrees year around. If you desire it significantly colder or hotter you will probably want to consider an alternative lodging choice. It is our goal to please most of the people…most of the time. Each room has an adjustable ceiling fan and during the winter additional blankets are always available.

Since I don't work outside the home Breakfast Service is flexible. You just have to let me know in advance what time works for you and if you have any dietary preferences. If you prefer tea to coffee let me know and I will make sure you have a steaming pot available when you wake up.

The open-plan kitchen/dining area is available for breakfast (provided by host) and snacks or meals (provided by guests), though not for full, cooked meals. The kitchen may be used for making sandwiches and light fare provided by you in case you are going for a long bike ride or hike… please clean up and replace items that are used. This is a real gem. A lot of attention to detail, beautifully decorated. Very comfortable bed. It's close to the airport. Susan told us about two fabulous restaurants. It was our last day of the trip and we were able to relax in her lush green backyard , have a glass of wine and wonderful conversation. Breakfast was delicious!!

We loved our stay at Susan's place! So many little touches (water and chocolate on our bedside table!) and an incredibly thoughtful layout. We were on our way to see the eclipse, so we unfortunately had to leave before breakfast was served. One of our highlights was spending time in the hot tub - what a relaxing way to unwind after a day of driving. If you're looking for a place in Des Moines, this is it.

Susan and Todd are delightful hosts. From two incredible breakfasts (mindful of dietary preferences) to a beautiful backyard rock garden, and most comfy bed, our stay was just right! Thanks so much!

What's not to like here? Cozy rooms and bathrooms, great breakfasts, lovely home to lounge about, and the best hosts ever - Susan even remembered a food allergy from last year that I had! Cannot recommend highly enough.

Susan is a great cook and her home is beautiful. She and her husband are great hosts and hostesses. You can feel they love what they do. This property is a 10! You can bike from here too, and a short 10 minutes to Intestate 80. Great stopover or a longer stay. Great bed!

I loved staying here. It was quite and very clean. The bed was the best! Susan and Todd do a great job making you feel welcome but ensure your privacy. I give it a 5 out of 5. Top notch place and breakfast is a definite plus and oh so yummy.

We stayed in the Gold room with ensuite bathroom for 4 nights. The BnB is in a quiet neighborhood, the house was beautiful; our hosts, Sue and Todd, were warm, friendly and Sue's breakfasts very fine, including the Eggs Benny on Sunday morning. Todd has a hobby of making spicy seasonings which I highly recommend. They have a nice backyard with hottub and BBQ, 2 lanais, all open to guests. Beds were very comfortable. Shower pressure fine. Fun meeting our hosts and the other guests. We chose this BnB specifically because of all the 5 star reviews. They are well desired! Near the airport.
