If you are looking for a place to stay in Rome, stop right here, THIS IS IT! Everything about the apartment is perfect and super clean. The terrace is beautiful, the bed incredibly comfortable and the neighborhood very convenient. When we arrived our taxi driver tried to over charge us and our host ran down to meet us and tell the taxi driver to charge us the right fee. It is the perfect place to stay!!
I loved staying in this apartment despite the 86 stairs. I had the entire top floor of the building to myself so it felt very private and since there were no shared walls, there were no overheard conversations of neighbors. The apartment is large, bright, furnished nicely and has a fantastic terrace with sun most of the time. I would have liked the gentleman who let me in the apartment (it wasn't the host, Stefano - he had to be in New York) to show me a little more about where to find things, tell me where the nearest market was, how to work the stove top, etc. When I tried to use the washing machine, I couldn't get it to work and Stefano replied right away. Within just a few days, after calling a mechanic come look at it, he ordered and had a nice, new washing machine delivered. I was very happy with how quickly he responded to all of my questions and requests. The neighborhood is what I had expected, as I had stayed in the area before. It's a good location considering you're not very far from the train station or the Colosseum.
Ciao Stefano! Thank you. We had an enjoyable stay in your apartment. Everything was perfect. The terrace is magic and we had good weather to be able to enjoy it. Very close to the Colloseum and the train. The lady who met us at the apartment was very helpful and explained all to us carefully. So thank you and maybe next time we can stay for longer. So much we still want to do in Rome.
The flat is absolutely stunning. It was large and had a stunning rooftop terrace that was great for the few warmer days we had. The neighbourhood was OK - it is a little more "rough" than perhaps some other areas but we never felt super unsafe or anything. It was approx 15 minutes to the Coliseum and less than 5 to Manzoni metro station which takes you to all the major sights.
While we would absolutely stay here again, we had a few complaints. First, we had to buy some basics like olive oil and balsamic. We also ran out of the provided coffee. Not a big deal since there's lots of shops nearby but it would have been nice not to worry about it. Secondly, we had some problems with the washing machine. I'm not sure if we just didn't understand it or what but it would just continuously flash and make a humming noise as if it was trying to drain water. Luckily there's the outdoor sink which we were able to do some laundry in. We emailed Stefano about the issue through airbnb but never received a response (and being international visitors had no ability to call or text him).
Finally, communication with Stefano was only okay. I had asked a question with no answer for several months and we had an odd checkin. Our Airbnb booking said 2pm but Stefano said 3. He compromised for 2:30 which was very kind but he had his maid let us in at 2:30 and she wasn't finished cleaning...so we sat in the apartment while she cleaned and some man (who was kind of intimidating) stood in the doorway and stared at us. It was a very awkward first impression to say the least.
Despite these flaws, the place is lovely. As mentioned, we would stay here again for sure. The rooftop patio is heaven on earth and a great escape from the busy city.
We had a lovely stay at stefano's apartment. The apartment had everything we needed and we absolutely loved the enormous terrace. The bathroom and kitchen are very well equiped and there's a very good shower. We would recommend the apartment to everyone except to people who have a hard time walking, because the apartment is located on the fourth floor and there is no elevator in the building.
Apartment was in a great location and was nice and tidy. We didn't meet Stefano but his friend met us with the keys and even gave a quick ride on her scooter since we were in a rush!
There are lots of stairs as others have said but we didn't find this a problem.
The terrace is fantastic!
My week in Rome was amazing! Stefano is a perfect host, solving any problems quickly and properly. I arrived very early in the morning and he released the apartment at 9:30. However, there was an electrical problem that would be solved in two or three days, since it was weekend. Then he got a small lovely apartment with balcony in Trastevere (via del Moro). Nice neighborhood!!
I chose to stay there. It was really, really good!
Thank you for everything Stefano!
