A Beautiful outer room for 2, with private entry and the lush green garden! The spacious room has ensuite Bathroom, Closet, TV, Ac & Wifi. Guests have named our home as the "Oasis" in the center of a lively, cute Suburb. So, come & go as you please!
View of the private entrance to the outer room listing, which faces the Main Gater and is almost in the garden.
Our home is a one-of-a-kind neat, clean, modern bungalow with a garden retreat to boot! It has all amenities including rooms with modern en-suite bathrooms and warm red oxide flooring. In Bangalore’s concrete jungle, our house is a unique, comfortable abode to relax in and to show-off to your friends, or guests! Earlier guests named our home "the Oasis"! The interiors are beautiful, with wide-open spaces and walls covered with reputed Art. Outside the house, the neighborhood is thriving with lovely restaurants, retail stores, medical stores and Hospitals within 50 to 100 yards or within a 10 to 15 minute walk! Returning home after a day at work, or in the city, you will definitely appreciate the calm, peaceful, relaxed atmosphere and environment that the House and Garden offer. A late evening drink in the lush garden, set to the sound of water flowing over rocks of the fountain, is a tranquil experience you will certainly enjoy.
Our home offers 3 very comfortably, spacious, independent rooms that accommodate two people in each room. Children below 6 years can be accommodated without charge in the same room. Our listings are separate for each room and they can be booked by a Guest independently, by choosing Listing 1, Listing 2 or Listing 3. If you are a Family or Group of six people, then you should select Listing 4 which books all the three rooms in a single booking. PLEASE NOTE with caution – if you are booking Listing 4 as a Family or as a Group wanting all 3 rooms, then please make sure that none of the other rooms (Listings 1, 2 or 3) are booked by any other Guest(s). The Airbnb software is not integrated and therefore it is unable to recognize bookings of other Listings made independently. I think the Airbnb Server expects us - the Host – to fill out the different Calendars. This is not always possible across the time zones of the World. The Calendars of Listings 1, 2, 3 are separate from the 4th listing; and, Listing 4 is an entirely different booking that is meant only for a Family or Group requiring all 3 rooms. The independent Calendars of the 3 individual Listings is not integrated with the Calendar of Listing 4. Please be aware of this! This issue has been brought to the notice of Airbnb for remedial software modification.
The outer room has its own independent entrance and it is located directly in line and in view of the main gate. The room almost merges with the garden in free flowing access and Guests are free to come and go as they please. You will have a set of keys to your room, and in all, you enjoy complete privacy with a very serene feeling in and outside this room. It is tastefully laid out and has a lovely, modern, attached Bathroom that you will find most convenient.
Interaction with Guests
Grace & I are generally always present to receive Guests and welcome them with a guided tour of our home. We respect the privacy of Guests and you are free to decide how much you wish to engage with us. Generally, we entertain, host and mingle a lot with opur friends; often going out dancing, or to theatre, concerts or to live music performances. We are also big music fans - Jazz, Country, Blues and Retro (music of the late 50s, 60s, 70s & 80s). Some Guests have joined us to certain events as well as in the fun of visiting our friends. You can call the shots. At our home, you could relax over a drink – wine, beer, alcohol and/or non-alcoholic beverages which we can organise for you; procured from nearby shops at retail prices. A small margin of about 30 Cents or Rs 20, is added to cover transportation handling and chilling costs! The cost of Beer, Alcohol and Beverages so procured is much, much, much cheaper than what you will pay for a drink outside!
We provide an all-you-can-eat delicious food. A complimentary, healthy spread of wholesome Breakfast with fruit, coffee/tea and juices is served to all Guests between (phone number hidden). A standard English Breakfast may also be had! Should you want to have Dinner at home, please let us know in the morning, while you are at Breakfast. Dinner is a good spread of home-cooked food too; with meat or fish, good seasonal vegetables (mostly Organic), pickles, etc, etc. The per head cost of Dinner/Lunch is just over $ 7 (INR 450) per person, per meal - very, very cheap, affordable cost for an all-you-can-eat, healthy spread of food; when compared with eating out! We generally avoid catering for Lunch so that the staff are kept engaged with cleaning and careful preparation of Dinner. Moreover, Guests are usuallu out the whole day. However, if needed we will also provide you Lunch! All the food we serve is prepared from pick-of-morning-vegetables, fresh meat and fresh fish, all bought right outside our home in a tie-up with surrounding Farms. Food cooked is healthy, tasty, has variety, and, even at the cost of repetition, you can eat "as much as you like". Drinking water in the house is Filtered Water - "a 3 step process of Charcoal, UV & RO filters". Please let us know if you have any food preferences, or especially food restrictions due to health reasons! We will gladly cater accordingly.
At our home, as suggested by Airbnb, we charge a nominal "cleaning fee" of not more than $5 for stays of up to one week and for longer stays beyond 15 days to one month, the fee is $ 15 . Each day, Beds are made and the rooms are cleaned, swept, swabbed & dusted, daily. Likewise, Toilets are cleaned thoroughly, each day. After a happy stay, we request you to please leave a donation, as you wish, for the Staff. A 'Donation Box' is kept for the purpose and your contribution is entirely voluntary and to your generosity for the satisfaction of Service you received. Noteworthy is their Service to you at the table; with off-the-fire, tasty, hot rolling food that keeps coming till you decide to stop eating! The suggestion of a voluntary gratuity actually came to us from guests who were highly appreciative of tasty, select healthy food (kept at low costs), efficient room cleaning, maintenance and hospitality in the home! It is an Indian tradition to show gratitude and respect for staff by tipping them!
Grace and I are helpful by nature! It is in our and character and of personal value to us, to be helpful; so, please do not hesitate to request any help that you may want, personal or otherwise - from safe-keeping your valuables, help with personal problems, transport arrangements, advice on personal safety & security considerations, storing luggage till a future date and so on. To cite an example, a young English Lady realized that her Visa for stay in India had expired. In the joy of her stay in Bangalore she was neglectful and had overstayed by 2 weeks! To cut it short, I persuaded Bangalore Police against judicial custody and deportation; took responsibility for her custody as “a personal house guest’, sent her to the Home Ministry in Delhi, got a letter endorsed by the Ministry for "Police extended stay", then sent her to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs where I had the period of illegal overstay regularized. The overstayed period was converted into official extension of Visa stamped in her passport - avoiding violation of our Law. This also allows her to visit India again; assured of a Visa. Her mother flew into Bangalore, collected the Lady’s baggage, flew to Delhi and two very grateful Ladies left India on a happy note and flew home to London. We are happy to have been of help. In all, we look forward to welcoming you and making your stay unique, enjoyable and memorable.
Our area – Kasavanahalli – is now the center of attention with major IT, BT, other Businesses and International Schools in place. The City center has shifted to our side as it were! From Bangalore International Airport (BIA), we are located at almost the same distance as the other major, important, suburbs like MG Road, Indiranagar, Jayanagar, JP Nagar, Koramangala, Whitefield and so on. The distances to these Suburbs, relative to BIA, are best visualized as one end of an arm where BIA is located at the shoulder; and, the 5 fingers at the other end representing the main Suburbs named above. Thus, the whole original city of Bangalore is around 50 to 53 kms away from BIA. From our Home, MG Road and other Suburbs mentioned above are in a circle of 10 to 12 kms and another inner circle of Suburbs, comprising HSR Layout, Koramangala, Martahalli, Electronic City, Silk Board and so on, are 3 to 5 kms away. In short, our Home is more or less like the Hub & Spokes of a wheel; with all the Suburbs virtually around us.
The first Listing in of our Home is the Outer room with its own independent entrance. This is indicated as Listing 1 - "Outer Room in Dream Garden Villa".We are located on Sarjapur Road within a radius of 5 or 12 kms of most important hubs in Bangalore. Wipro, Koramangala and Electronic City IT hubs are within 2 to 6 kms.
Restaurants abound within 1 to 2 kms and food can be ordered in. Take-away is easy as well. La Casa restaurant is next door and has good Indian and Continental food. Within 1 km of the house, there are several local restaurants with take away options ranging from Tandoori, Chinese, Mexican, Indian regional, Coastal, Goan food and Pizzas. Home delivery time is generally 20 to 30 minutes.
Lastly, large Stores (Aishwarya Value Mart, visible on Maps), is opposite our Home and Grocery shops are right outside our Gates ATMs are within 100 to 200 meters.
Public transport is easily available - the bus stop is right across at La Casa restaurant. Auto-rickshaws (tuk-tuks) pass the house regularly, but not recommended because they rarely ply on the Meter and charge exorbitant rates. Good radio taxis like Uber, Ola Cabs and Taxiforsure are always better to use and available on call at INR 12 to 20/km, for an air-conditioned Sedan. Airport transfers in an A/c Sedan are at Rs 19 per km; plus toll fee. Free parking is available at our home, on the main street and along our cul-de-sac. For touring around Bangalore, or out-of-town trips, we can help you with suggestions over and above your itinerary and also help arrange transport.
Other Things to Note
We are well connected with locals and across India and that is a big advantage for all our guests visiting Bangalore or traveling around the country; whenever in need!
Our home and all its rooms are full of Paintings of eminent Indian Artists; collected over 30 years! Please enjoy them; but do not touch canvases, or take paintings off the walls. Please do not forget to return the house keys and please leave rooms in the same state as you found it. We ask you to respect the property like it is your own as we put our heart and soul into keeping it looking as amazing as you will find it. The house is smoke-free and smoking is restricted to the garden and sit-out areas. As a courtesy to other Guests, gentlemen are requested not to walk about the house bare body - without a shirt/tea shirt. Thank you!
Nothing to say about this airbnb : the house is very nice, the
place is very nice and KC and grace are very very nice
people. Very helpfull for anything you can ask. You can rely on
I am extending my stay with them.
I was very pleased with KC and Grace's home-stay. They are a most gracious and welcoming couple. The home is an oasis in the busy City and was a pleasure to relax there, especially enjoying sitting in the garden. The particular Garden room was very nice and had all the comforts anyone would want when traveling here. It was private with an outdoor entrance, on the first level, with great AC, private bath, satellite TV and king size bed. Breakfast was delicious with many choices including fresh fruit, juices and choice of Indian or Western style (website hidden) the Dalmatian is very friendly if you wish to pet him. Plenty of small restaurant choices nearby. KC was able to help me greatly in planning a transport for a 5 day road trip and also reliable transport to the airport the morning I left. The home-stay is located in the SE section of the city, as short on the AirBNB site. I highly recommend this home-stay and would consider staying here again if traveling to Bangalore.
When you travel to a new city, we often look for a sense of familiarity and repose in the place we chose to stay. And then there is a barrage of innumerable websites selling you hotel rooms with frills, discounts and extensive guidelines, that it becomes a tiresome affair. As I was travelling to Bangalore for the first time I wanted a place that would redefine my leisure and purpose, that being personal.
Nestled in the central part of Bangalore and easily accessible from the airport, KC & Grace’s tranquil home, was indeed a dream come true. They arranged for a cab to pick me up at the airport and bring me safely to their home. The co ordination and service being exceptional.
The beautiful outer room was spacious, clean and adorned with paintings by M F Hussein, Yusuf Arakkal and noteworthy Indian artists. And if you have an OCD about hygiene, then it is definitely on a holiday here, as their home had not one thing out of place. The breakfast was a delicious spread of fusion food, organic and healthy. The best cherry on the sundae was KC crooning to the guitar strummed by my friend in the heavenly patio outside my room.
The energy of this marvellous haven resonated with the personality of the home makers. The magnificence of their home is superimposed against their humility and the stories they shared of travels, values and experiences.
The warmth of the gracious hosts, the ever smiling and helpful house staff and their dog DJ the Dalmatian, all of it made my stay the most memorable one. Truly they have redefined the meaning of home stay and each time I shall visit Bangalore I would look forward to reserving my stay with them.
With Love Sheetal & Abhijit.
KC and Grace's home is everything you'd expect and more. Tucked into a corner and hedged by greenery, this little haven fill you with serenity as soon as you enter the gates.
The home itself was quite stunning, with an abundance of interesting stories emanating from the many pictures and accolades KC has garnered over his years in service.
Sudhakar, the supervisor was extremely helpful and enthusiastic. But the one host that stole the show was D.J. their Dalmatian. We were won over by just how friendly and well bred he was.
Breakfast the next day was sumptuous, especially if you crave home cooked food. Indeed, we were left with our mouths watering shortly after, as there rose a delicious aroma of chicken curry being cooked for lunch!
I'd recommend this house, not only for the ambiance you'd experience just being under its roof, but also for the beautiful people that KC and Grace are. Although we didn't get to meet them, we'll always remember just how they opened their doors to us.
Thank you for your kind and gracious words for us, our staff and for our home. I haven't forgotten DJ. He was obvioulsy your best friend in our absence and we are so happy that it mattered so much for you and Cliff to be together in our home. We can't thank you enough for choosing to stay in our home and for having enriched our experience with both your presence as well as your "long distance" friendship. We sincerely look forward to seeing you both again. And I am personally interested in knowing you both because Cliff is an Edmondian and you a Khasi - both of which bring back memories of my life at age 5 in St Edmonda and Shillong! Much love to you both from Grace & myself.
The accommodation is exactly as described and is beautiful, comfortable and clean. KC and his staff are attentive and very welcoming. You feel at ease and safe with them, this was important to us as we were two single women traveling alone. We found KC to be kind and generous with his time and advice with all that we needed when coming to a new country. The breakfast that was supplied was yummy home cooked meal in a clean and welcoming kitchen with friendly staff. From our experience we would recommend this accommodation to anyone wishing to stay in Bangalore.
Thank you Ann for your kind words! We enjoyed hosting you and Tara and felt happy to have had one day of interaction with you. we did not feel too good about leaving in the midst of your stay. In fact what probably led to the communication gap between me and our staff Aisha, the Cook, is that she doesn't speak English. She is elderly and we do not override the elderly in our culture even at the level of Staff. As such, I left it to her rather than the young Supervisor, not realising that she did not understand the transition that we have made about doing a break-even charge for the Breakfast Fare and still keep it interestingly lavish; rather than cut it out totally, or, make the B'fast Fare a very small affair at no cost. But thanks for your suggestion. We need a re-think on this very interesting event that starts the day in our home both for Guests as well as for us in pampering our Guests to a good start for their day! Even though there is mention of the changes on the Airbnb Site, we definitely need to get a Comprehensive Booklet placed in each room. This aside, we are waiting for you to return, to host you again and I can also return what Aisha collected by mistake! Good luck with your course and our regards to you both.
Written by my wife, who stayed with KC and Grace for a couple of days:
A friend and I stayed with KC and Grace on my trip to Bangalore... and they made us feel so at-home and comfortable. The outdoor room is cozy and very well- maintained. You have wifi, TV, a fan and an AC too. The little verandah outside is a treat in the concrete jungle and the open garden they have is just beautiful.
Grace made us some yummy Keralite dishes - some vegetarian food and fried fish. Their 11-year- old Dalmatian DJ kept us company during our lunch and tea and happily posed for the camera.
All in all, it's a great place to stay - and KC and Grace are wonderful hosts and will ensure their guests feel totally at home. I will recommend this place and visit them again when in Bangalore.
There is a great cake shop just outside their home. The lemon tarts are a treat and for all your basic needs, there is Aishwarya, the supermarket.
Rohini and her friend Aksa came to our home with ca purpose - to Chill and they did just that! It was a pleasure to meet both Ladies - gentle and sweet natured. Rohini, though Yogesh selected our home, it was a pleasure speaking with you and Aksa and getting to know you both. As such, it was a good transition for us upon your arrival to meet you both in person given that we did not know what to expect in looking after 2 Ladies as this was our first experience of 2 friends meeting up in the environment of our home. Thank you for staying with us, for enjoying our food and hospitality and for your kind words in describing your stay with us. With our Regards and wishes for A Very Happy New Year to you both and your families. KC
"Dear KC and Grace,
You both have been marvelous hosts, taking care of everything since from long before our arrival and beyond our departure. We felt like arriving at old friends' home.Your house is full of life, spirit and warmth. The mystic paints on the walls are very attractive and speaking to us. The meals you proposed us were an amazing guided discovery of south Indian cooking. And the smiles of Mali ma and your other attendants let melt our hearts. We wish for all of you plenty of warmth, light, and peace for Christmas. We are looking forward to the next days we'll spend in your home very soon.

I am a decorated, retired Fighter Pilot. You can read some, about me, if you Google my name KC Kuruvilla! I love Art, Music - Jazz, Country & Blues, dancing and entertaining and so does my spouse Grace. We have hosted friends, relatives and guests from around the world; in the course of my career which took me through deputation to foreign Govts on behalf of the Govt of India, Service as a Diplomat in Iran; and several other career positions in various states of India, including Kashmir. We have travelled to many countries on holiday and throughout India; and, have good friends in most places that we stayed.
Grace and I have been opening our home to friends for years and now, from May 2014, regularly to Airbnb and other personal guests from around the world whom we have know earlier and who want a homely, peaceful, beautiful place to stay and consider their own. Indeed, we have a beautiful home, built from the ground up. It is certainly the dream home where we enjoy spending our time.
Our home is a bungalow with 4 bedrooms and 4 attached bathrooms! Of these, 3 rooms are available to rent. We have round-the-clock staff to cook, clean and maintain the property. Our Cook provides very tasty home-cooked meals which you can have for an additional fee. We request you to inform us in advance if you plan to dine at home. The rooms are spacious, modern and equipped with free Wifi, Satellite TV, twin beds with clean sheets, towels, toiletries, etc.
Our daughter is an Airbnb Service Host in Sydney. It was she who initiated us to sign up in Bangalore. As a family, we love to travel, and love people; especially hosting friends and guests. We welcome you whole-heartedly and hope you enjoy your stay at our home and in our city.
Should you require any local help, such as transportation, sight seeing advice, etc., we are happy to be of help in arranging it through our abundant local contacts.
