The Space

I offer a private room at Laugavegur in the heart of Reykjavik.
Laugavegur is one of the oldest shopping street of central Reykjavik and is packed with shops, art galleries, restaurants, cafes and attractions.

THE ROOM has a single bed for max 1 sleeping guest. You will have shared access to the dining room, kitchen will all necessary utensils and a bathroom with a toilet and shower.

There is wireless Internet and we offer free parking.

- bus stop next to the house
- 5 minutes walk to the oldest public bath in Reykjavik / Sundhollin with hot tubs and steam bath.
- 2 minutes to the grocery store / Bonus.
- 5 minutes to the art museum of Einar Jonsson, among the greatest
sculptors of the 20th century. Must-see!
- 7 minutes walk to Hlemmur, the central bus station
- 5 minutes to Hallgrims Kirkja, the local church where you will get a great view over the city from the tower.
- 15 minutes walk to the terminal for buses, tours and excursions at BSI.

The best way to get from KEF airport into Reykjavik if you don´t have a rental car is to take the air-bus.
The air-bus stops right outside the airports arrival hall and it takes you to the city bus terminal BSI.
From BSI, you can take shuttle buses to our place at Laugavegur 43.
If you order a bus ticket in advance online, it´s easier to order the airbus and the shuttle bus in the same ticket.

Check In
  • Matti is a great, friendly and helpful host. Even when I had woken him when I arrived at 2:30 AM, he was very friendly .... :)
His house is in central Reykjavik and all you need is near by - supermarket, shoppingstreet, tourist information and so on.
Matti was the best choice for me.

  • My experience was very pleasant. Centrally located in one of the main business streets. I would Stay at Matti's place again.

  • I had a nice week in Reykjavik. Matti (email hidden), everything was on time and I didn't have any problems with access to any facilities. Location of the room is the thing you can only dream of, right in the downtown. There couldn't be better place if you'd like to enjoy Reykjavik's nightlife.

  • Great private room on the main drag. If you're looking for a place close to the action this is it. 10 out of 10.

  • Stayed in the single room. A little small but great location. What I expected for the price. Thanks Matti!

  • At the contrary of these pictures, there's not a 2 persons bed. It's a single bed. There's not that table but a little fridge.
The window is probably cracked because of the wind i felts all nights long.
Kitchen is really simple but perfect for little lunchs. You're in the city center so it is really confortable to go outside. If you choose to stay in your bedroom to rest, it's not the best. If you want to discover the country. It's perfect. The bed room is at the ground floor and the bathroom, the kitchen and the living room are at the second floor.

  • Matti (email hidden), and the room is exactly as pictured.
I had an early arrival, and Matti was kind enough to store my luggage in a locked area until my room was available later that day. The house is incredibly conveniently located, and I chose to walk from the main bus terminal since it was only about 15 minutes, and it took me right past Hallgrímskirkja.

  • This is in a PRIME location downtown Reykjavik. The check in process was extremely smooth and the house itself was nice. This room is on the first floor near the door so I found it to be a bit cold in winter but there was a nice thick comforter/duvet to hide under so no problem. The dining room is up a couple of flights of stairs at the top where you can sit and have a coffee and watch Reykjavik wake up. The wireless was great upstairs and generally ok on the ground floor. All in (email hidden) to stay for the price! I'd recommend it!

  • Matti's place is central and easy to find. The bed is comfortable and the room is clean. Although the bathroom is up 2 flights of stairs, there is a sink in the room which makes things easier. The wifi is a bit hit and miss but there are plenty of cafes nearby with free wifi so I didn't find that to be too much of an issue.

Matti was very friendly and provided everything needed for my stay in Reykjavik. I would definitely stay there again.

  • Staying at Matti's was the best choice I could make for this stay in Reykjavik. Absolute freedom, clean house in a location hard to beat. Perfect for a few days in Iceland. Thanks!
