About this listing
We offer a comfortable private room for one person in our cosy family house near the center of Leiden.
Leiden is a great historical city with some beautifull sites and museums. The city is close to bigger dutch cities such as the Hague, Rotterdam, Amsterdam and Delft. The famous bulbarea (with the Keukenhof gardens) and the beach are within 15km from the city.
The house is located within walking distance from the city center. There is a bus connection near the house that runs to the Leiden central trainstation and the historical center.
The neighborhood itself offers free parking, parks, some restaurants, a shoppingmall and a animal farm.
The guestroom in our house is spacious and bright. The room is provided with a one person bed, a desk and some fitness equipement. Towels and linnen are provided and included. There is free WiFi and breakfast is included.
Bathroom and toilets are shared with the house owners, the kitchen is available on request. There is a home cinema on the second floor that could be used by guests to!
About the hosts. Stefan is a history teacher who has lived in Leiden since he was born. He should be able to help you out with about everything you need to know about the city.
Aliza speaks French, German, English, Spanish and Dutch so in most cases out guests should be able to speak their mother tongue!
Stefan was very kind and met me at the train station, to pass me the key, help me find the way to his home and also help me a bit with my luggage. The room was nice and clean. The bed was a bit too soft for my taste, but that's a personal preference. I used the restroom/shower that the couple was also using, that, too, was nice and being kept very clean. I was allowed to pick my own breakfast from what was in the fridge (bread, various cheeses, bread spreads, juices) and have some of the fresh fruit available. Stefan gave me his mobile phone number and told me that if I had need of anything, I just had to call him; very helpful. He also gave me a lot of verbal insider information about Leiden (on top of the countless folders, maps and whatnot already waiting for me in my room, all of which I could borrow to my hearts content), and that aided in making my visit very interesting and unique.
There is a small garden in the back of the house, just big enough to sit in and I was welcome to enjoy the fresh air in there as well.
The WiFi was very fast (compared to the one I had in a hostel in Amsterdam) - there even was a "hot spot" adapter available I just had to plug in, in case the signal was not strong enough - and Stefan even helped me to get it running when I wasn't able to do so on my own (probably mistyped the PW or something).
All in all, I had a great time and this is definitely a room/accommodation I would consider booking again, if I ever go back to Leiden.
Stefan's place was probably one of the best Airbnb places I've stayed during my Europe trip. Stefan has been a wonderful and a very friendly host as well. He ensured everything was good and comfortable for me during my stay. As for his room, the pictures posted does not do justice because it was beyond my expectations! The room is really spacious, clean and homely. The shared bathroom was big and clean too. Overall, I really had a good time in Leiden and much thanks to Stefan's hospitality.
If you're ever coming to Leiden, this is a recommended place to stay for sure. Thank you for everything again, Stefan! (:
Stefan&Aliza were very friendly, considerate and kind towards me. They had maps and books at my disposition, I could have used the internet if I had wanted to. Their house is very nice and in a quiet neighbourhood so you can hear the birds singing in the morning. The room is spacious, well-lit and cosy. I slept very well there and generally enjoyed my stay in Leiden, which is a really intersting and beautiful city. It's 5 minutes by bus to the center and you can also walk there easily (15-20 minutes). I found the description accurate, but the room is lighter and much nicer than it looks in the photos. Thank you very much, Aliza & Stefan.
The Glasbergens live in a quiet neighbourhood with good public transport links and plenty of parking. They gave lots of information and help when I arrived and there were nice touches in the room like shower gel, internet information and guides to the area and The Netherlands. The photos on this site don't do the couple, the room or the house justice. The stay was beyond my expectations.
