We offer a comfortable private room for one person in our cosy family house near the center of Leiden.
Leiden is a great historical city with some beautifull sites and museums. The city is close to bigger dutch cities such as the Hague, Rotterdam, Amsterdam and Delft. The famous bulbarea (with the Keukenhof gardens) and the beach are within 15km from the city.
The house is located within walking distance from the city center. There is a bus connection near the house that runs to the Leiden central trainstation and the historical center.
The neighborhood itself offers free parking, parks, some restaurants, a shoppingmall and a animal farm.
The guestroom in our house is spacious and bright. The room is provided with a one person bed, a desk and some fitness equipement. Towels and linnen are provided and included. There is free WiFi and breakfast is included.
Bathroom and toilets are shared with the house owners, the kitchen is available on request. There is a home cinema on the second floor that could be used by guests to!
About the hosts. Stefan is a history teacher who has lived in Leiden since he was born. He should be able to help you out with about everything you need to know about the city.
Aliza speaks French, German, English, Spanish and Dutch so in most cases out guests should be able to speak their mother tongue!
The Glasbergens live in a quiet neighbourhood with good public transport links and plenty of parking. They gave lots of information and help when I arrived and there were nice touches in the room like shower gel, internet information and guides to the area and The Netherlands. The photos on this site don't do the couple, the room or the house justice. The stay was beyond my expectations.
It was perfect. Stefan and Aliza are exquisite persons, the room nice and clean, they also offered breakfast, the location is a 20 minutes walk from the center, and Leiden is well worth visiting.
Stefan and Aliza are very nice and gave me a very warm welcome. The room and bathroom were very clean and tidy. The neighborhood calm and cozy. I recommend it warmly!
Host Aliza was very welcoming when I arrived. Did not see or intact much with couple during my week stay. A city map and what to do were helpful. Location is 15 minute walk from town centre as well as train station, or a bus which is 3 minutes from the room. Hope that screws of bed had been tightened, and if you don't mind having a weight training equipment in the room, it is exactly as described :)
The host met me in Amsterdam and helped me to find my way to his house, and gave me a detailed description of local history and the things to do in the area. The listing is accurate except that I found the neighbourhood to be further away from the center of Leiden than described, for someone who doesn't already know the area.
In brief: good quality/price ratio, close to city centre, nice house holders.
Stefan and Aliza warmly welcomed me, offering me all the help for settling in Leiden. Although half the room was occupied by a gym machine (I was allowed to use), the room was spacious and with enough room for my heavy luggage! Only one bad point: the bed was loudly creaking - I'm a very deep sleeper so for me it wasn't a problem, but just to know.
The shared bathroom/toilet was very clean and spacious (considering the Dutch standards!)
I didn't make use of the kitchen, apart from the breakfast.
Both of them respected fully my privacy, and the first evening Stefan brought me around for a tour of the city centre!
Stefan teaches history (so if you are in need of a good city tour of lovely Leiden...), Aliza is a PhD candidate at Leiden University. We both love to live in 'our' city Leiden and like to share all of its hidden treasures with visitors.
