The Space

Hi there, if the LEGENDARY BALCONY is not available, please check out my other listings. Same building, same quality, same satisfaction. Ideal for short, medium and long stays for solo travelers, couples or groups of up to 4 people. This UNIQUE Cozy Fully Furnished apartment is in an entirely restored 18th Century MANSION. With a PERFECT LOCATION, Casa Borda is 20 meters off Madero Street in the middle of the Historic Center of Mexico City Between the Zocalo and Bellas Artes. You’ll find yourself in a high SECURITY building walking distance to most of the sights this iconic city has to offer. DUPLEX and BALCONY apartment with the full excitement of enjoying the view and spectacle of the street while enjoying the comfort and security of Casa Borda.

Why legendary Balcony? Because the apartment gives to the balcony that went around the block and was designed specially to enable the Wife and Daughters of Mr Borda to walk without mixing with the "people" on the street the legend says. Yes, you ll be able to see the Turibus from the Balcony talk about the house and the legend and yes you should be aware that noise from the street can be expected, not the ideal for very light sleepers.

Guest Access

Guests are aloud to walk around the house and use common areas of building (Terraces, patios and bike parking) and can wash and dry their clothes in the shared laundry room.

Interaction with Guests

I live in the same building and work around the neighbourhood. I do like to interact with guests but have a clear understanding of privacy. I usually check guests in and sometimes greet goodbye. I am always available through the system or by phone on short notice.

The Neighborhood

The Centro Historico is up and running, though vibrant it is statistically the safest neighbourhood in the City, its is named after its historical position and its colonial period buildings and monuments, like the main plaza Zocalo, the Templo Mayor pyramids, the Murals, the Torre Latinoamericana, and some of Mexico’s finest historic and contemporary museums. Clean and safe, close to grocery stores and great places to eat out, like the gourmet market of San Juan, traditional Mexican and International restaurants and taquerias/cantinas, all budgets. Enjoy a morning run or night walk in the recently restored Alameda park.

Getting around

Two blocks away to major transportation systems like the Metrobus and the Subway to move around the city to the airport, bus stations and other neighbouring colonias such as Condesa, Roma, Polanco and Coyoacan.
From the airport: I recommend a Taxi (20USD and 40 min) an alternative is public transit, Metrobus, stop Bellas Artes then 5 min walk (4USD per person and 35 min), which is clean, fast and new.
To Condesa and Roma Metrobus or taxi: 25 minute ride there and vice versa.
To Coyoacan and Bus terminals: Subway different direct lines.
To Reforma (financial district): 20 minute walk by the Alameda park and up and down the avenue with the bus or subway.
Teotihuacan pyramids: subway to bus station and then bus to the pyramids or through a tour operator.

Overall Guest Satisfaction

Check In
  • A fantastic place. The inner courtyard of Casa Borda is Mexico DF at its finest. Stunning restoration with some beautiful modern touches. Ditto for our apartment. Located halfway between Bellas Artes and Zocalo, 100 meters from Mercado pedestrian area. Close to several subway stations and the Metrobus station. Hard to ask for more. Juan Carlos was wonderful host, informative, concerned about our well being and easy to communicate with as he responds to email quickly and speaks English very well. Our apartment was on the street so at times was noisy but the windows closed helped considerably although if its hot out then closing windows looses the cross space ventilation. Was not a big deal but may be for light sleepers.

  • This was the second time I've had to pleasure of staying in this apartment. Juan was a great and attentive host (he lives on-site, downstairs), and provides information on a broad range of cultural activities in Mexico City. This location is unbeatable--with tons to do and see within walking distance and just steps from public transport and 24 hour taxis. Another wonderful experience.

  • Our days in Centro Histórico, Legendario Balcón, ¡was just greatl! The flat is terrific, everything you need to feel comfortable is there, and has a really very nice details in every corner or any direction you look at. Besides the location is perfect, in the heart of the Centro Historico, which now is very very clean, secure, and full of life. If you go to Mexico City, you have to stay there. Juan Carlos isa very nice person and all we have to talk to about he or the apparment is great things!! Thank you very much. If you want to come to Cancún, fell free to ask coming to my home,

  • The Centro Historico of Mexico - City is a very noisy place, but we were lucky to stay and relax at the nice and well equipped apartment of Juan Carlos
who is an excellent host and arranged for us a friendly taxi driver
who was able to find the places out of the city we wanted to visit.
    Thanks for your kindly help.
