The Space

This is private, clean, small room with single bed and large closet in Manhattan apartment. It has a large window, with lots of light. The apartment is renovated and I keep it clean. The bathroom has a shower with toilet and hot water! I provide clean bedding and FREE Wi-Fi. There is large fridge for use and everything in the kitchen is also available to you to use if you like. YES, there is air-conditioning in your room!

Safe and super charming neighborhood (no hipsters yet), "The only part of Manhattan still looking like in 1950's" as someone told me. It's a short to walk to Soho, Tribeca, Lower East Side.

Laundromat and coffee shop are downstairs in the building (Coffee in this part of town is $1. There’s also 24/7 Deli on the corner.

The apartment is walking distance to lower Manhattan, SOHO, the West Village and Tribeca. The Brooklyn Bridge is a 10 min walk from my house. Times Square is 20 minutes by subway.

The MTA Bus stop is 2 minutes from the house and goes all the way uptown on the east side. Subway is on the same street, 7 minutes walk from the house. F train (East Broadway stop). The apartment is located between the Manhattan and the Brooklyn Bridge. Good location for runners, two blogs from the water. It's a safe and at night pretty quiet neighborhood.Lots of great and affordable restaurants around.

I am very easy going woman, film editor/filmmaker in her 30's. Very respectable of others privacy. We would probably hardly see each other, I am fairly busy usually, but I can help you with tips where to go in the city. Please email me a bit about yourself and what are you planning to do in NYC.
Thank you!!

Interaction with Guests

I am friendly and easy going person and I will gladly provide you with any tips where to go, where to eat and what to see. I often invite guests to openings or events if i know about any. Although i usually keep to my self and I am pretty busy, so there is a big chance you wont see me that much. In the summer I am often traveling so you may have the place to your self.

The Neighborhood

Someone told me it is still the "old" New York. I like that. Its very cinematic and authentic neighborhood.

Getting around

7 min walk to EAST BROADWAY orange F train, the station is on the same street.

  • The whole month of June I stayed at Bara's cozy apartment in NYC. I had my private room with a window, large wardrobe and fast wi-fi. Bara was always very helpful and friendly. The apartment was clean and perfectly located in Chinatown, Manhatten just a few blocks away from the train, Brooklyn and Manhatten Bridge and the Waterfront.
I had a fantastic time over there and can recommend to stay with Bara every time! You'll have a safe, clean, quiet place and a super welcoming nice host! Thanks Bara for everything!

  • The location was perfect for my needs, with easy subway access to all directions just a short walk away. Bara was great: super friendly and offering much advice for exploring Manhattan. The room was a little chilly on the first night due to the unpredictable April weather but Bara contacted the landlord immediately and he adjusted the heating right away, so everything was sorted from that moment on. I would definitely recommend Bara's place for an easy time and I would certainly stay there again.

  • Thanks Bara, for the good time in NYC; it has been a great pleasure meeting you and I hope to see you sometime again. The description is more than accurate - the room is modest and cozy and the area around Bowery is very attractive with short distances to the subway uptown and Brooklyn. 谢谢

  • My stay with Bara was great. The apartment is as announced - charming & clean. Bara is very sweet. She was there to welcome me and everything went well. She is easy to reach. Wifi was pretty good, you will have plenty of space in the fridge, shower is good -nothing is weird or suspicious about the place. It was great living with her. It felt like I had the place to myself. I felt at home which is important. VERY NICELY LOCATED. A 15 min. walk up North and your in the East Village. The apartment is in Chinatown, sufficiently safe neighbourhood. My NYC experience was great and part of that is because I had a safe little room to come back to. Thanks Bara. Oh ya, convenient Laundromat downstairs.

Now I am feeling nostalgic :(.

  • I was happy with everything. I do not have any hesitation to recommend her place, as she keep her place tidy and clean. Above all, Bara is very caring and always helpful. She gives me some tips in NY. And when I caught a cold, she was caring me all the time. Without her help, my holiday wouldn't be better than that!

  • Bara was so kind and friendly, even though I met her only on last day in NYC. The room was small but, made me feel comfortable and revealed that she was a good artist. I think you may have unique experiences in her own artistic place, not like others. Liverside is so close to Bara's place and walking along the liverside is highly recommended. Thank you, Bara.

  • Bara was great. I was looking for an apartment in New York and she was really willing to help and provide me with her NY insight! She has great tips for the city. The room is exactly what you need. Once you get your bearings you can walk everywhere or take the subway, which is close by.

Filmmaker & Artist
I work as a filmmaker and film editor in NYC. Currently I am working on a feature documentary film about Bauhaus cottages in the USA. I do short animations and installations. I am originally from Prague and I live in Manhattan since 2007, before that I lived and studied 5 years in Boston. In 2006 I lived and studied in Amsterdam. I go to Europe often, but NYC is my home. I love traveling, I been in Australia, Asia, Europe, Africa and I wish I do it more often. I was told I am good NYC guide, so I can give you some tips for the good and non touristy places if you want. I am very easy going, friendly person, no drama queen. I am often out of the house and if I am here I keep to my self, usually working, so you will have lot of space and privacy.
